Angelina Thomson is a 16 year old junior at Pinewood High School in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. She wears her heart on her sleeve, making it easy for any guy to come by and snatch it. In this case, this guy's name is Skylar Brookshire. He has her wrapped around his finger, leading her on then cutting her off, until she learns how to protect herself from the affliction and contentment of the game of love.

4. It's a Beautiful Day

I hopped into my sisters car in a strangely cheery mood. There were butterflies in my stomach and my head was spinning.

"What's up with you?" Bailey said, looking at me like I was crazy.

"Nothing. Why would anything be up with me?" I said, messing with my hair.

"Oh I don't know, the skipping to the car, the giggling, the humming?" she said.

"I wasn't humming..."

"Angelina, you would never in a million years skip in public. It's like me when I try twerking. No one wants to see that!" she said laughing. I imagined Bailey twerking... Yeah, it's not a pretty picture.

"Do I need a reason to be happy?" I asked.

"I know what it is. That Greg kid from your History class asked you out, didn't he?" She said, nudging my shoulder.

"Greg? Ew, no! You know I can't stand him!" I said laughing.

"Uh huh, that's what they all say..." She said as we pulled out and I waved goodbye to the school for a few months. I was happy that I didn't have to come to classes, but it's disappointing that I won't be able to see everyone as often anymore.

I walked up into my room, twirling around in circles and putting on my happy music playlist. I picked up my phone and texted Roxanne. Again, she pulled up in my driveway about 5 minutes later. I walked (Okay, more like fell while I was trying to be graceful) down the stairs to open the door.

"Since when do you open the door for me? I'm usually not even greeted when I get to your room!" Roxanne said, raising her eyebrows at me and walking in slowly.

"I don't know, it was the last day of school, I'm in a good mood," I said smiling.

"Bailey! There's something wrong with your sister!" she yelled through my house and walked into the kitchen.

"I know! You know what happened, right? Did she tell you?" Bailey said while eating ice cream straight out of the carton.

"Um, no! What didn't you tell me?" Roxanne asked, turning towards me and giving me the concerned parent look. I raised my eyebrows at Bailey. I had no idea what she was talking about.

"Greg from Angelina's history class asked her out," Bailey said, smirking and giving me the evil look.

"He did not, so just shut up!" I said angrily. If there was one person in the world that I couldn't stand, it was Greg and she knew it.

Now I was kind of regretting having Roxanne over, for it was 2 A.M. and she was on her third hour on the phone with Skylar. That was when reality came crashing down and I realized that it wouldn't work, me and him. I'm going to have to face it, Roxanne and Skylar are going to end up dating. Either everything will go great or he will break her heart, and I'm going to be the shoulder she comes to cry on.

But I don't know, how could one guy put me in such a good mood after just talking to me? He ignored me for four months and I'm just going to let him back in that easily? I'm not that vulnerable anymore. I'm going to keep my heart guarded, but hey, who said we can't be friends? But how can you be just friends with someone who makes your heart erupt into butterflies?

A/N: Surprise! I thought I would give y'all another chapter before I head out of town. It's just me being super generous. Think of it as an apology for only posting every couple weeks. See you guys in a week or maybe longer! Who knows?
