9. War Starter

Some would say that I went out looking for trouble. I would say that I went looking for a battle. I wanted to get home SO BAD. I woke up early, got dressed and pulled on my headband. I scribbled a note to Star and told him to meet me by NC, near the place where we'd fallen through the wall. Then I crept out of Erikkah's house, and I slid carefully down the branch, onto the soft grass. I got up and ran towards Nathaniel's Castle. The sun was just rising, and I raced through the Blossom Underway. A young lady was sitting there with a little boy on her lap. He was asleep and so was she- I assumed that she was homeless, sleeping rough in the Underway. I blew them a secret kiss, and carried on running. I looked down at the thick red 'crossover' line, and lifted my foot. I felt sick, but I reminded myself of home, and I leapt over. My legs felt like jelly; but I kept walking. I lifted my hand, and knocked on the castle door. I stood in silence, and nobody came. I knocked again. And again. And again. BAAAAAAANGG! It must have been tens- even dozens- of NC Soldiers flew out on me. I wanted to run and run, but I couldn't bring myself to move. I zapped them with my own fire powers, but it wasn't a match.

"MAIDENS!" I screeched. "MAIDENS! COME ON!" Another of Luciana's Maidens came trekking over soon- a girl named Cynthiah- but she looked as if she'd just rolled out of bed, and she'd forgotten her headband. She did her best to help me- but we both got zapped, and we totally blacked out, lying on the cold ground.

I woke up, staring at the sky. It was sunset, and streaks of Tydes were flying to and fro. I panicked, and sat up as quickly as possible. I almost had a heart attack; Flamisia was in one hundred per cent battle. Maidens were running frantically, and NC Soldiers were doing all that they could to tear down the kingdom. I turned- and the Blossom Underway was totally ashes. I started dashing like crazy over to Erikkah's house, praying inside my head that everything was going to be okay. I felt so selfish, so mean- I'd started a war.

"ERIKKAH!" I yelled. "I'M COMING! Oh, please let you and the boys be okay!"

The tree where they lived was still standing- but only just. The branches were extremely fragile, and most of it was ablaze. Erikkah was standing outside of her door, clearly looking for help, watching the scenes before her. She was holding on to Eethan with one hand, and Thor was on her hip. Luciana was there, her hair covered in a scarf to prevent being notices. She was hugging Robert, and Star was with them.

"GUYS!" I screamed. "I'm so sorry! Please forgive me! I'll help you!" I desperately ran up the remains of the steps, and tore along to them. They all hugged me.

"Don't worry, Ella," Erikkah said. "We understand. You missed home- but we were just worried about you. Poor Cynthiah- she was rushed into hospital. It's a dangero-" Her sentence ended with a scream, as the branch she was standing on snapped. She clutched Thor and Eethan, falling back. Luciana fell, too, holding on tight to Robert. And Star slipped, but managed to climb a branch. I cried, feeling so much guilt. But I couldn't have been more lucky; they landed in a pool of water, all from Maiden ex-spells. They sat up, coughing and spluttering, but alive. Though I wasn't sure if I was going to be- everywhere around me was on fire. I was coughing and coughing, feeling as if I was fighting for my breath. Luciana, Erikkah and the boys looked up at me nervously.

"I'll be okay!" I screeched. "Run! GO!" They didn't argue, and set off. I wasn't sure if I WAS going to be okay, though. At all.
