Lionel Messi-Barcelona

Lionel Messi is arguably the world's number one footballer. He scores hundreds of goals in his career, but what happens when he is injured and Barcelona signs another world class player, Cristiano Ronaldo, to replace Lionel? Can Lionel ever get back to his best and beat his enemy Cristiano?

3. The Secret Signing

"Lionel?" a voice called, making me snap out of my daydream.

"Yeah?" I replied, looking up to see Andres and Xavi.

"Tito wants us to tell you something," Andres said nervously, looking down at the floor, fiddling with his fingers. Xavi patted his shoulder comfortingly, then looks back at me.

"Well, what is it?" I asked, standing up with the support of my crutches, feeling worried and nervous.

"Tito... uh... he's signed a secret player to replace you...." Andres breathed, looking up at me nervously.

"Who's the secret player?" I questioned, squinting my eyes in suspicion.

"We don't know exactly but we think it's Ronaldo," Xavi answered my question honestly, and I gasped.

"Cristiano Ronaldo?!" I exclaimed. Cristiano Ronaldo was Real Madrid's all time living legend, and my enemy. When I said that breaking my leg was my worst nightmare, I was wrong. Cristiano Ronaldo replacing me IS my worst nightmare.

"Yeah, Cristiano's replacing you until you get back to your best. At least we think...." Xavi trailed off, feeling guilty for me.

"This is impossible," I groan, throwing my crutches on the ground and sitting back down, hiding my face in my hands. "This isn't happening..."

"Lionel?!" another voice screamed, and Andres looked at the corridor of the stadium's players only area upstairs in the stadium.

"HERE!" I snapped, my voice loud and clear. Tito entered the room, and gave me a soft smile. Scowling, I stood up, one hand still on the couch's arm to balance myself, "Don't smile at me like that," I muttered, frowning.

"The secret signing's here!" Tito grinned, rubbing his hands excitedly. He clearly didn't consider my feelings. Like he thought I had anything.

"I know, it's Cristiano Ronaldo, isn't it?" I mumbled sadly, sitting back down.

"How did you know?" Tito asked, frowning.

"Well, isn't it obvious?!" I snapped, looking up, anger in my eyes.

"Whoah, whoah, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but we need a player who's like you to replace you until you get back to your best!" he exclaimed in response, his eyebrows furrowed together.

"Sorry?! You signed Cristiano Ronaldo. You chose him yet you could have other players who were cheaper. You don't think I'm ever going to be the world's number one player again...." I trailed off, sighing.

"Yes, that's right. I think that!" Tito screamed, then he stormed out of the room, slamming the door. Andres went after Tito to try and calm him down, which was a not good idea.

"Don't listen to that idiot," Xavi said calmly, sitting down next to me.

"How can I not listen to him when he's saying the truth?" I asked, tears threatening to fall from my eyes. My career meant the world to me. People think I'm doing this just for the money, but the fact is that I play football is because I can feel free. Independent. Almost no responsibilities. I just liked to play football.
