7. Fateful Day...

The Police and Srikanth left the place after waiting for some time. The xerox shop owner had told them to come next day so that the person would come to take the courier. He also assured the Police that he would not let go the person with courier packet in their absence.

The next day was  a Sunday. The Police requested (!) Srikanth to reach near the xerox shop in the morning. For Srikanth, this was a new experience and he was of the firm opinion that the guility should be punished. He promptly reached the spot and two policemen came in mufti (in plain clothes instead of their regular uniform). The Police were talking general things with Srikanth, their main discussion was on higher salary he would be getting and they getting lower salary for their onerous tasks.... Though it was true, what anyone could do for that. They had a chai at a small tea-shop, but their concentration was entirely on the xerox shop.

After a half an hour wait, they saw the xerox shop owner chasing somebody using foul language. "You bastards do lot of things and we will be held for that" could be heard. At this juncture, Srikanth and Policemen rushed towards the shop and alas! The person being chased was the one who had come to Srikanth to receive delivery instructions and give them for execution... Srikanth screamed about the same and the police took him to custody chasing him. The "prize catch" was brought to the Police Station in an autorickshaw. Srikanth followed them in his moped.

At the Police Station there were less policemen as it was a Sunday. The "prize catch" was made to sit in a room on the floor and two police personnel started the task of interrogation. Srikanth was curious about all this and had never seen such things in his life. He introduced himself to the policemen. The policemen  who interrogated the culprit were Mr.Achar and Mr.Deshmukh. Mr.Deshmukh was in civil dress and he was a writer in the police station (writer=clerk). Mr.Achar was a senior police constable. He was very intelligent and aged about 50-52 years. Mr.Achar started posing questions and Mr.Deshmukh started noting the same. For the interest of readers would like to share the questions posed in the interrogation verbatim...
