A Whole New Direction

Nala and her best friend, Caitlin, have been fans of One Direction ever since the first album came out, but neither of them were obsessive over the boys. One day they were walking around in Dublin, Ireland when they saw a big mob of girls attacking Niall Horan, but just laughed and kept walking. When Niall tries to find shelter in one the coffee shop where the girls work, Nala and Caitlin get a big surprise and their whole lives change.

1. Caitlin is Always Right

Caitlin and I heard girls scream and  already new why. One Direction was on a little brake, so Niall Horan was home. I looked over at Caitlin and just chuckled under my breath.

" Looks like it's hunting season," Caitlin giggled. We kept walking and joking about those silly girls. We are fans of One Direction, but not obsessive fans with the posters and the cardboard cut outs of the boys. We like their music, and yeah, we think they are really cute. Who doesn't?

We arrive at the coffee shop where we work and strap on our aprons.

Caitlin leans over the counter in the dish-room and whispers to me, "What if we met Niall? Just, what if we ran into him on the street?"

"You are such a daydreamer," I say rolling my eyes at her fantasy,"Niall Horan would get mobbed before we could even look at him." She huffs at my remark and prances away to the front desk. I follow shortly after her, hurrying to get to the cash register.

"Hot Chocolate," I hear in a hushed voice,"with whipped cream, please."

"Coming right up,"I announced. He hands me the money carefully, not lifting his head.

"Dude, I think that's a special guest," Caitlin whispered in my ear, quiet enough that the costumer couldn't hear. I knew exactly what she meant. I saw a bleach-blonde wispy escape from the boys hat and I winked over at Caitlin. I hand the hot drink to him and whispered quietly,'Here you are, Mr. Horan." He looks straight up at me, hiding a smile. He scoots a small piece of paper underneath my palm and stalks off with his head down. I stare at him as he slides into a seat and I peak at the paper. I saw a few numbers and couldn't help but smile at the fact that I have Niall Horan's phone number. I shake my head and skip over to Caitlin, passing the note to her.

I chuckle at the note and mocked Nala in a nasally voice,"You are such a daydreamer." Nala nudged me playfully with an annoyed face. I glimpse over at Niall. He was always my favorite, next to Louis. Nala also had an eye for Niall, and now that she had his number, she might actually go on a date, with a boy from One Direction. I can't help but be jealous. Nala was always the one the boys hit on. She has long, caramel hair; tan skin that just gets darker; a petite, lean figure from dancing since she was two; and glowing green eyes that switch between a teal and a lime shade, while I, on the other hand, am tall and nonathletic; my hair is brown with a red-ish shade to it; ugly brown eyes; I am pale and burn easily. Nala always says that I'm the prettier one, but my insecurity gets in the way. I never believe her, except for the insecure part. Peolpe at school tell me I'm pretty, except for the barbie dolls, or the really popular girls. Nala and I stay away from them, but they alwayas find something about me to make fun of, like my body. I'm not as skinny as them so they call me "Little Dough Girl." Nala says that they're just jealous and that they try to hard. She is always there to stand up for me, but sometimes, I just want to stand up for myself.

"Hey, you okay?" I hear Nala ask, snapping me out of the foggy thoughts I had.

"Yeah,"I whisper hoarsely,"I'm fine." She wipes my teary eyes as one tear escapes down my cheek, then she hugs me as tight and whispers what she always whispers to me when this happens,"You are perfect and you know it. Stop scaring yourself."

I watch as the cashier comforts her friend. She seams so nice and mature. She looks about 17 and she is very beautiful. Her friend is, too, and by the way that girl had notified me that she knew who I was, I know that it was a good idea giving her my phone number. I stand and walk out of the coffee shop with a small smile across my face, then remember, I don't even know that girls name. I stopped abruptly and sprinted back into the store over to the cash register to talk to the girl.

"I guess you just couldn't get enough of me,"she smirks.

"Yeah, sure,"I roll my eyes,"I just need to know your name."

"Nala,"she giggled,"and that girl right there is Caitlin," she points over to the friend she was hugging earlier.

"Thanks, Nala. I'll see you around,"I wink at her, feeling accomplished as I march out of the shop.

Nala, I think to myself over and over again. Nala, Nala, Nala. I think I'm falling for her.
