REVISING AND EDITING Werewolves Aren't Real...Duh (1st book of the Brotherly Rivals series)

Hi. My name is Rain. I know... weird name right? Well, that's my name. Another interesting fact about me is that I'm an orphan. My parents got killed by a mugger when I was 2. I don't remember much about them, but I do remember my sister. She gave me to the orphanage after mom and dad died. She's probably dead. Also, I'm a cutter. I don't particularly enjoy it, but it makes me feel like... I have control. I don't have control at the orphanage. I'm just one of the 50 kids who have to live in this place. They don't give a damn about any of us. I'm turning 15 tomorrow, but they don't care. So I'm running away.
*That's what Rain thought. Little did she know her life was about to change forever.

8. He got her

Rider's p.o.v.

NO! NO! NO! Leon got her. He got my Angel. The last thing I heard her say was that she loved me. After that, I broke down. I wasn't even trying to fight back. Lexi killed all four rogues (including the one that attacked randomly.) I phase back and just lay there. Jakayla and Malcolm brought Lexi and I some clothes. Malcolm had to literally dress me, then carry back to the house because I refused to move. Lexi kept asking me what was wrong. Then she asked the STUPIDEST question ever, she asked where Rain was. I completely lost it.

I started yelling, "SHE IS GONE! LEON TOOK HER AWAY FROM ME! FIRST HE TAKES LILY, THEN ANTHONY, THEN RAIN!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE OKAY!! I LOVE RAIN!! I LOVE HER WITH ALL MY HEART........He's taking everyone I love. Next it'll be you, or mom, or dad, or Ella, Jake, Jakayla, the list keeps going on. I can't take it. I can't." I felt broken and alone without Rain. Like I would never be happy again. Lexi's eyes started to fill with tears, '"I'm so sorry, Rider. Also, what happened to Anthony?" Oh man, I forgot she didn't know. '"Umm... he died. The rogues killed him." She started crying,

"No. Not Anthony." She sobbed.

"I'm sorry, sis. Do you want to come with me to check on Annabel and Alexander?" I asked quietly. She nodded. We went up to Anthony's old room and I opened the door slowly. When we stepped inside the room, we saw Alexander lying face down on the bed, and Annabel by the window crying her heart out. She was only five and now she has to take care of her little brother on her own. Lexi walked up to her and put her arm around Anna's shoulders. I went over to te bed and lifted Alexander into my lap. I still felt like I was about to break inside, but I needed to act strong for them. Alexander looked at me with those huge brown eyes that were filled with tears. He lip started quivering.

"W-why did he leave us, Ride?" Alexander said in a shakey voice. He and Anna always call me Ride for some odd reason.

"Shhh, it's okay. Do you want some ice cream?" He nodded glumly. We took him and Anna downstairs and got them some chocolate ice cream. I excused myself and went up to my room. As soon as I stepped in, I regretted it. Everything in here reminded me of Rain. Her scent still lingered and I wished it would go away, but I also want it to stay with me forever. I sat down in a chair by the window and tried to think of a way to get Rain back.

'Sitting there isn't going to help, you need to act.' My wolf said quietly.

I didn't move, didn't say anything, didn't talk to anyone or do anything for an entire week. I didn't eat, sleep, or bathe.

"Rider, eat. I know you're sad, I get that, but if you don't eat, you won't be able to help Rain in any way." Lexi has been trying to get me to eat all week. I just sat there, like I've been doing everyday for the past 7 days. Lexi left, but came back 5 minutes later with Ella, Jake, Jakayla, and my parents.

"Rider, honey, you have to eat." My mom said.

"Listen, Rider, I know you must be feeling horrible, but you need to eat something." Jake said. He asked for a moment alone and everyone left us, my mom leaving a plate of food on my bedside table. Malcolm walked into the room and sat on the edge of my bed.

"Listen Rider. Lets just get straight to the point. Lexi told us exactly what happened, and Jake and I came up with a plan to get Rain back." Malcolm said. That got my attention. I looked at Jake with interest.

"Eat, take a shower, and get some sleep and we'll start the plan first thing in the morning." He said, handing me the tray of food. I stared at it for a second before starting to eat. Jake pat me on the back before leaving the room along with Malcolm. I never realized how hungry I was. I finished my food in five minutes, then went to take a shower. After I took a thorough shower, washing my hair and everything, I tried to get some sleep. After 10 minutes of staring at the ceiling, exhaustion took over and I was engulfed in darkness.

When I woke up, it was 5:00 a.m. and I was still tired. Malcolm and Jake came into the room with duffel bags slung over their shoulders.

"Get dressed and fill a bag with some clothes," Jake said, throwing me an empty duffel bag. I put on some blue jeans and a plain red tee and packed my bag. When I walked downstairs, Jake was filling several bags with food, and Malcolm seemed to be arguing wih Jakayla about something. Ella was helping Jake pack the food and Lexi and Isabelle were having a conversation with mom and dad.

"Whoa, Jakayla, are you trying to wake the whole house." I said playfully. Everyone turned and looked at me.

"Rider, you're back." Lexi said, coming over and giving me a slap on the head.

"What was that for?" I asked, rubbing my head. She didn't answer, mainly because my dad started speaking.

"You 7 are about to go on a 'quest' to get Rain back. You all understand how dangerous this is, correct?" We all nodded. "Well, I guess the only thing I can tell you guys is good luck." He said. My mom hugged each of us in turn and wished us the best of luck. Then we were off. We each had four duffel bags. 1 with our clothes and 3 filled with food. Lexi took us back the place were Rain was taken the week before. Seeing that place almost sent me back into that 'Never talk, eat, do anything' phase, but I knew I had to stay strong for Rain. Jake suggesed we eat something, then start following the tire tracks. We all had a snack, then set out. We found tire tracks leading from the spot the van was and began to follow them.

Rain's p.o.v.

It felt like I was in the back of that van forever. According to the sun rise and fall from the window at the back, it's been a week. I didn't feel too good either. I kept coughing and sneezing, and my head felt like it was about to explode. Believe it or not, I had never been sick before. Now I understand why people hate it. I was thinking about how sickness affected everyday life when the van schreeched to a stop. The back doors opened and I was blinded by sunlight. Jessica was standing there, grinning evily and looking better than ever. I guess they have a healer. Before I could do anything-like punch her in the face, for example-I was shaken by another fit of coughing.

"Awww, does the poor baby got a cold?" She taunted, her grin growing wider. She grabbed me by the hair and pulled from the van, making sure I hit my head on the way out. I screamed, thinking 'WHAT IS UP WITH PEOPLE AND GRABBING MY HAIR!' She laughed wickedly at my pain. I was brought into a huge house that looked over a big lake. I have to admit, the sight was beautiful, but I still hated it. When Jessica brought me inside, she threw me on the ground at Leon's feet. Of course, that triggered another cough attack. Leon looked at me for a moment, openmouthed, before slapping Jessica. I was shocked.

"I told you I wanted her in perfect shape when she got here." He hissed. "Does that look like perfect shape to you. She's sick!" He got down on his knees and gingerly touched my head. I winced, the pain from hitting my head flaring up again. He growled and hit Jessica again, punching her right in the jaw. Her jaw gave a sickening crack, but she didn't show any sign of pain. She just bowed her head.

"Why is she in pain? Did you hurt her? I've told you time and time again, don't touch what's mine." He growled.

"Who said that I was yours?" I spat. He ignored me.

"JONATHAN!" He called. The tall guy from Wendy's walked into the room. When he saw me, he grinned and said,

"Well well, look who decided to join us. I'm guessing you want me to take her to her room and get Cindy, don't you Leon?" Leon nodded. 'Jonathan' picked me up bridal-style and tried to carry me to a room. Notice I said tried. I kept kicking, screaming, clawing, and anything else, until he let go of me. Well, more like I punched him in the gut and he dropped me in shock. I shot out of the door as fast as I could, until I was stopped. Not by force, but by choice.

"Run away. Just know that I'll be picking off the people you love, one by one. Starting with my dearest brother." Leon said calmly. I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at him. I was a good 150 meters away.

"You wouldn't dare." I challenged, although my wolf said, 'DON'T LET HIM TOUCH RIDER!'

"Did you forget who's game you're playing, my sweet?" Leon said, a sickeningly horrifying grin spreading over his face. He grabbed a girl from his 'pack' and held a dagger he pulled from his pocket to her throat. The girl wasn't struggling at all. She had a look in her eyes like she wanted to die.

"I'm sure Rider told you. I've already murdered a year old baby girl. My own sister!" He started laughing maniacally. He slid the dagger across the girl's throught easily, and continued laughing as blood gushed out of her wound, and she fell to the ground. Dead. He only laughed harder when he saw my horrified expression.

"YOU MONSTER! YOU SICK MONSTER!" I screamed hysterically.

"Yes. I am a sick monster." Leon said still chuckling.

"A sick monster who's going to kill the entire WaterRush pack if a certain someone makes a bad choice. So, what'll It be, stay or go? Its your decision." He said it as if he was asking me what flavor ice cream I want. On one hand, I wanted nothing more than to get back to Rider. But on the other, I knew that if I left, it would only put him in danger. I walked back over to Leon with my head down.

"That's a good girl," he said, pating my head like I was a dog, "now, lets get you settled into your new room. You'll find it easier and much more enjoyable to be my Luna if you cooperate." I allowed Jonathan to pick me back up and take me away. I hope I made the right choice.
