This is a story about a girl named Megan spending the summer with her older sister. There, she meets Tyler.

I wrote this story a while ago, so it may not be the best written and story wise.

5. Chapter Five

I swear being grounded was like back when I was twelve. I just sat on my bed, staring  at the blue wall, trying to re-gain memory of what happened last night.I still had the headache, but it was going down. But, every time I tried to think of what happened, I thought of that picture that Tyler drew.

It looked beautiful, but unfinished. He must have drawn it when I was sleeping last night.

I really wanted to hang out with Abby, Aiden, and him, but my own stupid mistakes made me sitting here in this room.

The hours passed and I feel asleep. I was feeling a bit better, but I was still tired. Then the door opened. Alex came in. She sat on the edge of my phone and looked at me.

“I’m sorry I overreacted.” She said.

          I shrugged. “It’s okay.”

“No, it’s not. You’re practically an adult. I shouldn’t be treating you like your seven.”

          “I deserve it.”

“Then you deserve to go hangout with your friends. It’s the summer and you should enjoy it before you deal with university.” She smiled and got off my bed. “Now, get up and call Abby.”      She walked out of the room.

I got up, put my hair in a ponytail, and unwrinkled my clothes, and headed outside to find them.

I walked down the beach, and then there was a hand on my shoulder. I turned and saw Aiden standing there. He smiled at me, “I heard about your little drinking last night.”

I blushed, “Yeah. I’m feeling better now. Where’s Tyler and Abby?” I ask.

“I’m on my way to them right now. Walk with me.”

We walked down the pathway in silence. It wasn’t uncomfortable at all. Then I spotted Tyler, but he wasn’t just with Abby. There was another girl with him.

“Uh, I wonder what she’s doing here.” Aiden says.

          “Who’s that?” I ask.

“Oh, that’s Paisley, Tyler’s ex girlfriend.

She should be on  the mainland, Abby’s voice rang through my head.

“Abby said she was supposed to be on the mainland.” I tell Aiden.

“I guess we’ll figure it out why she’s here.”

We walked up the group, and Abby gave me a small smile, and looked at Paisley for a second, as if saying she didn’t know why she was here.

Tyler looked at me uneasily. “Hi, I’m Megan.” I said to Paisley, trying to ignore the feeling of what wanting to drop her in the ocean.

“Paisley.” She replied, giving a small smile. She had light blonde hair and soft brown eyes.

We all stood in an uncomfortable silence. Then Aiden spoke, “Weren’t you supposed to be with your Aunt this summer?”

“Yeah, but my Aunt decided to go to Florida instead, so I guess we’re back here for the summer, but,” she looked at Tyler for a quick second, “I guess it’s not all bad.

Tyler blushed, but didn’t look at me. I put on a fake smile. “Well now that we’re acquainted, why don’t we do something to celebrate my 5 hour grounding?”

Tyler gave a breathy laugh, but then Abby cheered and put her fist in the air. “Let’s a milkshake!”

Tyler, Aiden and I seat the table while Paisley and Abby got our drinks.

“I’ll be right back,” Aiden said and walked toward Abby. I looked at Tyler.

“I hope I didn’t get you in too much trouble.” Tyler murmured.

I shake head, “Pfft, nah. After about five hours in my room, Alex came in and said that she wanted me to enjoy my summer, so here I am” I grin.

“I’m sorry I didn’t know that she was coming,” He blurts out. “She just showed up when I called Aiden.”

“It’s okay, Tyler, I understand.” I give him a small smile.

“Why don’t you have dinner with me tonight?” He asks. I look at him, and hope fills his eyes.

          I nod, “Sure.”

He grins, then Abby sits beside me. “So, what’s goin’ on here?” She asks looking at the two of us. I try to think of something.

“We’re talking about how I hope I didn’t get her into trouble from last night.” Thank you, Tyler. I look at him, and gave me a wink.

Aiden and Paisley join us, with our drinks, and we sit there in silence until Paisley speaks up, “What brings you to this island?” She asks.

“Well, my sister wanted me to spend the summer with her before I descended to collage in September.”

“Awe, that’s sweet. My sister is four years younger than me, so she really doesn’t give a crap about anything but herself.” She laughed.

“I was thinking we could hit the beach for the last few hours of day light?” Abby suggests.

“Sure, why the hell not.” Aiden says, and drapes a shoulder on Abby’s shoulder. She blushes a little and smiles, looking at me.

We all spilt up after Milkshake the Sun, and headed home to get a few things before we went to the beach. Since I didn’t want to go back to Alex’s house, and Abby had a bathing suit, we get ready at her house.

“Now, what really happened when Aiden left?” Abby asks through the closed bathroom door. She has her own bathroom, so I was changing in her room, while she changed there.

“Tyler asked me out for dinner tonight.” I said sheepishly. I pulled on the bikini bottoms.

“Awwe! But, just make sure you don’t mention it to Paisley. She think she’s Ty’s protector.”

“Well, someone needs to tell her she’s not.” I replied.

“No one’s had the heart to tell her.” The door opened and Abby appeared in shorts and a tank top covering her bathing suit. We both walked her front door and Paisley was standing there.

          “Hey.” She said, smiling.

“Hey!” Abby squealed, and gave her a hug. I looked at her and she rolled her eyes. We all walked toward the beach in silence.

Aiden saw us in the distance, and he nudged Tyler and they both started walking. We meet in the middle.

“Let’s so get a spot,” Paisley said, looking at Tyler out of the corner of his eye.

“Yeah!” Abby exclaims and grabs Tyler and I and runs to beach.

We find a spot, and I lay my blanket down.

“Damn, I forgot my sunscreen. Be right back,” Paisley said as she ran down the boardwalk.

Aiden and Abby looked at each other. “We’re going to get some water,” Aiden said and grabbed Abby by the wrist.

Once they were out of earshot, Tyler whispered, “Are they either making sure we’re alone or they want to be alone.”

“I choose the second one.” I replied smiling.

We stood in an awkward silence for a few moments. Then Tyler stripped off his shirt and board shorts, and flip flops. “I’m going in the water. You coming?” He started to walk to the water.

“Hey, wait up!” I yelled to him. A few people on the beach looked at me, then looked back at whatever they were doing. I took off my shorts, and t-shirt and threw them on my towel, and ran to the water.

I dove in, getting the cold water to warm me up faster and looked around for Tyler. I didn’t see him, then he popped up in front of me, close I might add and laughed. He ran a hand through his dark hair and smiled at me.

He leaned closer, then I ducked back into the water. I swam in the opposite direction. As I stood up for air, a pair of arms wrapped around me. Tyler grinned at me.

“You’re not getting away this time.” He said. I looked at him and suddenly I was caught in his lips. They were warm, and tasted like salt, but he smelt of mint. A delicious mint.

His grip loosened on me, only to be wrapped around my waist lightly. He stopped and rested his forehead on mine, staring at me with those pale green eyes. “That felt so much better than last night,” He murmured so softly, it sounded like he was telling himself. But, I still heard him

I stepped out of his arms. “What do you mean?” I ask. Waves hit my hips.

He stammered, “You k-kissed m-me last night.”

“I did?” I ask. Then I remember a blur of me pulling him to me and kissing him. “I did. I’m so sorry about that!”

He moved closer, making a few waves, and pulled a wet piece of hair out my face, “Its okay, Meg.” Then he kissed me again, then I stopped him and grinned.

“Don’t want to ruin anything before tonight.” I said, wiggling my finger in front of him, then I ran and dove into the water.

When I popped up for air, he was coming towards me. I giggled and tried to run away, but he caught my waist.

“Hey! You two, cut it out! There are kids here.” Abby yelled from the edge of the water with Aiden beside her.

I looked at Tyler and we both had the same thought. We ran for them, and splashed them. Abby squealed and ran back to the towel for cover.
