20. "He's not leaving alive..."

Melody's POV

My smile faded at the sound.

"I'm sorry, Mel." Tucker's voice seemed truthful, but he also sounded truly sorry for kidnapping me just moments before all this, so that didn't say much.

I looked over my shoulder to see that Tucker was, indeed, holding the gun to my back. Luke appeared in the doorway, watching with a smirk on his face.

"I trusted you." I growled lowly, my eyes cutting toward Tucker.

"You did... And I'm sorry. I guess you're...too gullible." My frown deepened as he repeated those words.

Luke was silent as Tucker prodded me to stand. I left Albert in the floor, letting Tucker guide me out of the room.

Tucker kept me just outside the room, the gun pointed at my face. The expression he showed surprised me. He looked bothered, even angry, at this scene.

Luke drug Albert out, throwing him to the ground roughly. I subconsciously tried to go to his aid, but Tucker pressed the side of the gun to my chest, forcing me gently back against the wall.

"Okay... I've had enough of this. Am I off the hook now?" Tucker sighed as he spoke.

"Not just yet." Luke told him.

"Luke, I did what you said. Let me out of this." His voice grew louder.

Luke obviously was blackmailing Tucker to make him do these things. Albert sat up from where he lay, wincing as he glared at the brothers. He seemed to be trying to figure them out. I just stood there silently as Tucker argued that he'd done enough.

Luke finally snapped, "Shut up."

Tucker glared at him before looking away and at me.

He still looked at me as he spoke to his brother, "You're screwing me over, aren't you?"

Luke dismissed his accusation as he pulled a knife out of his back pocket.

"God, Luke... I don't want-"

"I told you to shut up." Luke looked at me after snapping at his brother once more. "I want you to take this, and I want you to slit his throat." He gestured toward Albert, and I let out a shaky breath.

"No." I murmured.

He stared at me with a look filled with anger, "Yes. You will. Or I will have to kill him...slowly."

I choked on tears at that statement, "Luke, please... Just let us leave. You're making a big deal out of nothing!"

He slashed the knife carelessly through Albert's bicep, leaving a deep gash. Albert growled lowly in pain.

"You will leave once I'm done here... He, on the other hand, will not be leaving alive." He promised grimly.

I looked at Tucker, shocked that he would let Luke go on with this. He was just...standing there like a statue.

Luke grabbed the blade of the knife, "Do it." He offered me the knife, and I jerked it out of his hand. Tucker gestured me forward, lowering his weapon. I stood in front of Albert, glaring at Luke with hate-filled eyes all the while.

He moved me to stand in front of him, his hand falling lowly on my waist. I jerked him off of me.

"Go on..." He whispered. I looked over my shoulder slightly, seeing his amused smirk.

He was enjoying this... The sick mother-

Luke's words interrupted my thoughts, "Now."

With a deep intake of breath, I looked into Albert's eyes. He gave me a sudden look. I knew what he wanted me to do...

But the question was: could I do it with a clear conscious...?
