Blood Lust

Albert Fraiser lived his life cursed with the bloodline of his family. He has grasped this fact for many years, but he's never known the horrors that his way of life could bring until he finds himself creating one of his own. As time progresses, Albert soon starts to feel different about the woman-Melody Lashing-than he had before. But the road ahead is rough...and there's no telling if their relationship can survive the events that lay ahead...

10. Going Home

Melody's POV

The next morning, I opened my eyes to the bright stream of sunlight that had made its way through the window. I groaned, turning my head to Albert's neck. He stirred a little, sighing into my hair.

I watched him with only my eyes, smiling as his eyes opened toward the ceiling.

"Good morning." I murmured, pulling my head away from his neck as he looked at me.

A sleepy smile came to his lips, "Morning." He replied groggily.

I sat up, listening as Albert spoke, "Did you sleep well?"

I nodded at his words, "Yeah. A little cramped...but it was fine."

He turned onto his stomach as I slid my legs out of the bed, "I was thinking that maybe we'd stay at your apartment for the next few days. If I keep paying for hotels, I'll run out of money."

"That sounds great to me. When can we leave? I've been feeling a little homesick."  I commented, walking toward the bathroom and looking in the mirror.

"You want to leave now?" He asked, "Cause I'm being charged by the hour. It's," He checked the clock that was on the nightstand beside the bed, "...12:35. We were supposed to be out thirty-five minutes ago."

I asked from where I was standing, "Why didn't you get the room for two nights?"

"Cause...I knew you'd want to go home." I could see the 'Are you stupid?' look on his face even without looking at him. His words were practically lathered with attitude...

"I am starting to look like a nasty hag. Of course I'd want to go home." I stated loudly, listening to him chuckle before closing the door.

I showered quickly, and then put on the shirt I had slept in. When I came out, Albert was out of bed and dressed. He was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.

He looked at me, and then raised a brow.

"What?" I asked, pulling the shirt down to cover more of my legs, "I didn't have anything to change into..."

He shook his head with a small smile.

"Oh, stop looking at me like at!" I snapped, feeling my cheeks redden.

He just smiled a little wider, "Now look who's modest." He said teasingly, throwing me the pair of pants I'd worn the day before and a button-up shirt of his.

I stuck my tongue out at him once he'd turned to put my shirt in the backpack. I then turned back into the bathroom and got properly dressed. I don't know why, but changing in front of him was different than it was last night. I ran my fingers through my wet hair, untangling it the best I could before parting it and placing it over my shoulders.

Once I walked out the door, we were ready to go.

***Arriving at The Apartment***

When we finally made it to the apartment, I rubbed the back of my neck. I was walking near the spot that I'd spent my last minutes as a human... That bothered me more than I thought it should...

Albert let me out at the front door, and then drove across the street to park the car. I didn't see the point in letting me out first, but he wouldn't listen to me when I started to complain about it. He would just shake his head and tell me to, "Shut up and let me do something nice for you."

I stood waiting for him, hugging my arms to my stomach as I watched the people that went by. I looked to the side, and jumped as I saw Albert pop up.

"Good mother of grapes!" I gasped before letting out a long, irritated sigh, "Don't do that!"

He looked at me with a small smirk, "What's got you on edge?"

I didn't answer, knowing exactly what was bothering me. Albert had yet to find out that Luke knew what I was, and I wasn't planning on telling him right now.... Not if I didn't have to...

"Come on..." I murmured, leading him inside and walking straight to the rusty staircase.

Once we got up the stairs, I walked directly toward the door with the silver text that said '27B'. Albert was looking at the dark hall, a frown on his face, "This place smells of smoke and alcohol." He muttered, and I realized that he was walking really close behind me, "Why do you live in a disgusting mess like this?"

"I didn't have enough money for" I replied.

He didn't get to reply before I opened the door and walked in. He followed, closing the door behind him. My apartment was small, like most of the others, and was hardly decorated. There was a TV in the small living room as well as a couch and a coffee table. The living room was connected to a medium sized kitchen. The kitchen wasn't the cleanest, but I hardly had time when I went to work and school to take care of. Now I wasn't worrying about any of that. In fact, I hardly cared about it anymore...

Albert set his bag in the floor as I smiled and made my way into the living room. I sat on the couch, stretching out a little before my eyes caught sight of the folded piece of paper that was on the table. I leaned forward, standing as I grabbed the paper. I read it quickly.

The note was written in messy handwriting, and read:

I need to talk to you about our conversation yesterday. Meet me at midnight tonight. It's urgent.

Love, L.V.

Under the signature was the address to some dock on the other side of town.

My hand shook as I looked up and to Albert, "Um, Albert... We have a problem..."
