The Straight - Edge boy with the Pepsi Tattoo™

This is a story dreamt about. It is about a girl who runs away from England to a place of opportunity, America. But when she gets there things pan out really well. She then crosses paths with a boy but he isn't just a normal ordinary boy, he is special.

10. Job Hunting

When I woke up at 8:00 AM and had some of my favourite cereal I had taken with me, Special K cereal! It is tasty and slimming, all you could want in a breakfast! I then opened my sea blue Lenovo laptop and went on the internet using the hotel's little broadband they have. I search in Google "Jobs in Chicago" and it comes up with loads of things. From engineering and chief communications officer and other complex occupations that require high qualifications, which I don't have as I am a teen who is supposed to be in school. So I search "Jobs for teenage girls" and it shows me more sensible and realistic suggestions, but not all are very appealing. The suggestions are:

A teen journalist

A beautician

A waitress trainee

A toilet cleaner

A worker at the Childline call centre

A dog walker

A clown

A birthday party host to be hired

A trainee show girl

Serving at the counter of a clothes shop

Babysitter or Pet sitter

Working in a warehouse

A model

Most of these sounded ridiculous to me, so I look at the ones that aren't that terrible. I could possibly be a teen journalist, but what would I write about? My English is very good except where and how would I get my information to write about? It is very confusing and it doesn't earn much money so I move on, but keep my options open.

Secondly, a beautician isn't a bad option, but I am allergic to make-up so I can cross that one off of the list. A waitress trainee is an alright job, but I have to work long hours and get paid very little.(I don't want to end up being a slave in any job!)

After that is a dog walker. I could only walk cute, friendly dogs, definitely not vicious dogs! The pay is poor and sometimes the owners don't pay at all if someone complains that the dog peed over their lawn or something. That one is a "No-no" from me.

I take a look at the next option on the list, serving at the counter of a clothes shop. That seems like a fair job, if I don't find a job that is enough to live on. It can be a backup job, so I keep that door open.

The next job seems to be ok, but not my cup of tea. Being a babysitter or pet sitter means that you sit around watching kids or pets making mess, children eating too much sugar and getting hyper, pets chasing the neighbour's pets and so on. It would be very tiring and rather isolating so I move on. But what really catches my eye is the last of the list.

Last but by no means least is this job. A model. Now that is a career I can imagine myself pursuing. I have the looks, I have what it takes, so why not? I mean, you make money from people taking photos of you to be on the best and most famous magazines while saying how beautiful you are. They spoil you and flatter you, and compliment you with a high wages.

I think that this the beginning of something that is about to happen and I search further on the internet for more details.
