39. Is this True Love?

Love is just so sweet. I couldn't ask for a feeling better than this, as I am insatiable for his love. Phil has got my heart wrapped around his little finger, but I have got his heart in the palm of my hands. I love being with him, as he is just such an interesting, loveable guy. I just adore him. He is my ultimatum. I will never love someone like I love him now and that is a fact. Rumours are floating amidst our fellow pupils as they are starting to find out that we are together, so I call him over in private to talk at my house. It is the weekend so we can discuss a plan of what we are to do with this whole situation.

"Hiya," he says to me.

"Hi, um, I just wanted to see if you were aware of what is going on right now," I state.

"What? What is going on?" he says confused.

"Rumours are running high at school. Even in the neighbourhood! People are finding out, about us. Sooner or later they are going to find out everything and then everybody will be on our case. What do we do?" I spit out.

"Rumours? School - Yes. Neighbourhood? Are you kidding me? They're not that desperate? Are they?" he says bewildered.

"You betcha! They're digging and are getting closer, and closer to striking the gold," I exclaim, and he raises his eyebrows.

"So, how should we crack at this? I'm not ashamed to be with you, I am proud. What about you?" he asks me.

"I love you and I am not afraid to tell that to the world! So, here is what I plan to do. I just want your confirmation. I am going to spill the beans, end this drama and tell them all... what you mean to me."

"Ok, that's a plan. How are you going to tell them all though?" he questions me.

"Um.... um... um.... uh. I got it! I have a master plan surprise and I just need your consent that I can tell people," I unreasonably explain.

"Um, ok then. I don't mind you telling people, but what's the surprise?" he curiously says.

"Surprises are surprises! I can't tell. All will be revealed Monday Lunch Time!" I shout and jump to my feet. I smile and laugh uncontrollably, while dancing in circles round the coffee table in the living room. Phil stares at me puzzled with an eyebrow raised, as I start singing at the top of my voice. His mouth is starting to drop at my craziness and I don't stop. I carry on... for about half an hour!

Monday Lunch Time

It is officially lunch time and the whole school has eaten their lunch. Now they have to head to the theatre where the lunchtime concert will take place. Pupils just had to sign up to take part. I am in the audience next to Phil, my hand in his. We watch as the concert goes on and then the head music teacher comes up and announces. "Thank you everybody! We are almost coming to the end of the concert, but we have one more performance left. And that is solo by a true hidden talent in singing. Please put your hands together for our final act, Alicia!" and everybody looks over at me. I smile vaguely as Phil gasps, I run to the stage at get my microphone sorted.

"Hello everybody! Hope you are having a lovely time! I am singing a very special song that has a message behind it, and I hope to tell everyone what has been on my mind recently. This is 'You Belong With Me' by Taylor Swift," and I get a round of applause before the guitar subtly comes on.

You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset.

She going off about something that you said.

She doesn't get your humour like I do.

I'm in my room, it's a typical Tuesday night.

I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.

She'll never know your story like I do.

But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts.

She's cheer captain, and I'm on the bleachers.

Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find, that what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you.

Been here all along, so why can't you see.

You belong with me, you belong with me.

Walkin' the streets, with you and your worn-out jeans.

I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be.

Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself, hey isn't this easy.

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town.

I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down.

You say you're fine, I know you better than that.

Hey whatcha' doing with a girl like that.

She wears high heels, I wear sneakers.

She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers.

Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find that what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you.

Been here all along, so why can't you see.

You belong with me.

Standing by and waiting at your back door.

All this time how could you not know baby.

You belong with me. You belong with me.

Oh I remember you, driving to my house, in the middle of the night.

I'm the one who makes you laugh, when you know you're about to cry.

I know your favourite songs, and you tell me about your dreams.

I think I know where you belong, I think I know it's with me.

I then come off the stage with my microphone still singing, but I charge up the stairs, and it is a long way up. I make my way through the crowd still singing.

Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you.

Been here all along, so why can't you see.

You belong with me.

Standing by and waiting at your back door.

All this time, how could you not know baby.

You belong with me. You belong with me.

You belong with me.

Have you ever thought just maybe, you belong with me.

I then find Phil and I stand in front of him, hold his hands and sing the last line.

You belong with me.

He stands up and moves closer to me, but I wedge the microphone between us. "Phil..." I pant. I then get my breath back and say "Phil Brooks... I dedicated this song to you, because... I love you. And all I can really tell everybody is that... you belong with me."

He then responds after a while "Alicia, I love you too darling. You belong with me," and we kiss. Everybody in the audience goes "Awwww!" whilst others whistle like mad. We kiss gently, and everybody in the whole theatre can see us. Our lips are entwined for a long time and neither of us let go, the audience claps and the curtain goes down... the show has ended.
