Abbey and Axel

4. Axel

I went back to the kitchen, not knowing what else to say, but I heard her turn off her music.

There must be something wrong, I've never seen her this angry, upset, distant.

I wonder what Bec or Iris had done to make her so upset.

Now her school books are missing pages.

I snuck back up into Abbey's room, seeing whether she was asleep, finding her lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

I get into her bed with her, feeling her body against my body, her heart beating a million miles an hour.

"We shouldn't be doing this, my parents…"

"Will never find out."

I held my finger to her lips.

I know we shouldn't be doing this.

No, don't do this. You know that you shouldn't.

Not yet at least.

I didn't want to, but I listened to me.

Next thing I know is that I am still in bed with Abbey, my shirt on the ground.

Abbey is lying on me, so I gently wake her up, reminding her it's a school morning.

"I don't wanna go to school…"

Well, in the end I got her to get out of bed, with a little bargaining.

"I'll get out of bed if you sleep with me tonight aswell."

"You know I'd do anything for you to get out of bed."

So, that's just how it played out.

After about half an hour, we were heading off to school.

"Ugh, Music today."
Abbey should like music, doesn't she play an instrument anymore?

"I thought you played bass or drums or something?"

"I did. Not anymore."

"Why not?"
"Because I was the only one who actually took the time to learn how to play the instruments. I didn't fit in."

"You think that not fitting in is a good enough reason to not play an instrument anymore?"

By that time we got to school.

I ran to homeroom after walking quickly with Abbey to hers, finding Mrs Florington just finishing the attendance when I burst in.

"Just made it, try not to be late again."

So I sat down in my usual seat, by myself.

While Mrs Florington was reading the daily map (A bit of paper with upcoming events, lost items, etc.), I admit that I was daydreaming about Abbey.

Her body…

For the rest of homeroom we went to the Gym to play dodgeball.

Then it was time to go to first block.

I was hoping the music room had guitars and stuff.

Wait, a music room without a guitar isn't a music room at all.

Returning to my homeroom room to collect my bag, I ran down to the music room, finding Abbey already seated.

I picked up a chair and placed it beside her, and sat on it.
