Abbey and Axel

7. Abbey

We couldn't cook today because there were 'special' guests at school who had come to officially open the new classrooms.

Some of them had just been renovated.

Mrs Mooreton was talking to us when Mrs Florington came around the corner with a confused look on her face.

"What happened to coming to talk to me?"

"Uh, Mrs Mooreton happened."

So Mrs Florington went and talked to Mrs Mooreton and came back saying "Let's Roll"

So we walked to the oval, without Axel, and talked, I guess.

Well, yes we did talk.

It wasn't an overly long talk, but Mrs Florington said that if it was easier, to write to her.

So, after talking to her, I headed to the gym to find my class in there.

We played dodgeball, but I just stood back and only got involved when I knew I could hit someone.

Not to brag, I have a very good aim, but I didn't want to show off.

I knew that Iris and Bec were looking at me.

I could feel their eyes on me.

At Lunch, I got the courage to go up to them, aware that Axel was watching.

"I don't think that your reason to not talk to me is good enough."

"Talking to me like that just did."

"I don't see why you hate me."

"We don't hate you, we despise you."

"Hate and despise have the same meaning."

"Smart allic."

And with that I walked off, angry and annoyed.

"Yeah, you better walk away."

That was it.

I turned around and walked back towards them.

I was pretty sure that Iris had said it, but just because I wanted to, I punched them both in the face.

They fell backwards, Iris clutching her nose and Bec with a hand over her eye.

I turned to find Mr Dyhards, our Principal, walking towards me, Iris and Bec.

Before he reached us, I turned and ran, knowing that this wouldn't go unpunished.

After reaching the end of the school lane, I turned around to see whether anyone was following, but all I saw was Mr Dyhards, shaking his head.

I didn't turn up to Science.

Instead I hung out at the gym, shooting basketball hoops and practicing netball shots.

I heard Mrs Florington come in, but she just sat down watching.

After about half an hour, she came over.

"You know, you didn't have to hit them."

"Oh, I'm sorry they won't talk to me!"

"Then you didn't have to be so rough."

"I don't want to have this talk again."

"Okay then, but next time, you come to me instead of running away."

So I was in the gym until the end of school, when the grades two, three and four had netball training before us.

I didn't feel like helping Mrs Maartinz train them, so I went out to the main quadrangle to find Axel.

I found him sitting on a swing.
