No Reason to Pretend

Liam from One Direction & Jesy from Little Mix fall in love after an unexpected visit at the mall, but it's not as easy as they think. Jesy is supposedly having problems with her family, while Liam is having problems with his social life, especially with the other boys in One Direction. They both face consequences which may or may not end up well, whether they are together or apart...

7. Chapter 7 - The Plan

“Hey. It’s Liam.”

“And?” James said sounding angry.

Liam hesitated and then said ”I heard the conversation and I assumed that Harry was lying and you were telling the truth.” He then heard a big sigh of relief.

“Thanks, but there’s nothing to do. Even if you are on my side its 2 against 4.”

Liam thought for a moment. “Not unless we add that girl.”

“Chantelle! Of course! Thanks mate, that’s a good idea but I don’t know her number.”

“You don’t need to. We’ve got a number for everyone in this city. Come round and go to the back door and I’ll let you in there.”

Liam waited at the back door patiently. This was the first time in two days that he went out of his room. Every morning, afternoon and evening for the past couple of days someone opened the door and snuck some food through. Liam didn’t even know who it was. They were probably making it ‘fair’ by making a roster. Well that’s how he knew them anyway. After 20 minutes or so a loud knock filled the silence.

Liam quietly opened the door and said “Shhhh! The others might have heard!” but luckily they could not hear anything for the next minute except their own breathing. “Ok come with me.”

Liam led James to the kitchen where the phone book lay. “Oh my gosh,” James said examining the kitchen and treating it like if he touched anything, it would break. After a while Liam found the ‘C’ section.

“James, is it Chantelle Mackintosh or Chantelle Berry?”

James tried to remember which one it was. “Um, I think it’s Chantelle Berry,” James said not actually sure if it was. They then slipped upstairs and Liam grabbed his phone and excitedly tapped in the numbers on the screen. After about a minute of ringing with no answer Liam surprisingly wasn’t angry. He didn’t care. He rang again and again, and at the fourth time he was not expecting an answer but one came.

“Hello this is Chantelle Berry speaking.” It wasn’t on speaker so James couldn’t hear the croaky elderly voice.

“Hi, this is Liam. James told me everything. And guess what Harry’s done?” He explained the whole story and then there was a long pause.

“So do you want delivery straight to your door? Or you can come in ten minutes. I do not know your situation but – “

“Oh, ma’am I’m so sorry. I called the wrong Chantelle.” He felt sorry for her because he had wasted all her time, and for himself because of wasting his voice.

“It’s ok. Bye… Liam?”

“Yeah. Bye.”

James looked at Liam’s wide mouth and then started to crack up laughing.

“Sorry, Liam!!!” and then went back to his laughter, but then stopped when he noticed Liam’s glare and then put his hands up. “Ok, ok. Call the next one.”

“Are you sure that her names Chantelle? Because if it’s not – “

“It is, it is, promise. Just call her.”

After a death glare at James, Liam again typed in the next number. When a voice answered, he first said, “Hi it’s Liam. I see you met James last night?”

“Ah yes, yes. I did. What do you want? To tell me off? Well see if I care,” she scoffed. Liam explained the whole story again and she seemed really excited. “I’ll help you.”

The very next day they met at Richmond Park to talk about their plan. Unlike Jesy, Chantelle was nervous about the deer and stood behind the boys’ backs until they left. She decided to hide her nervousness by asking a question.

“So what’s the plan?"
