No Reason to Pretend

Liam from One Direction & Jesy from Little Mix fall in love after an unexpected visit at the mall, but it's not as easy as they think. Jesy is supposedly having problems with her family, while Liam is having problems with his social life, especially with the other boys in One Direction. They both face consequences which may or may not end up well, whether they are together or apart...

6. Chapter 6 - Unfair

When the movie was finished, Harry and Chantelle wouldn't leave the mall, no matter how much James said they needed to go.

"Come on guys, I told the others you would be home by 6! They'll kill me if I don't bring you back then."

Harry ignored his statement and said to Chantelle "Hey, lets check out this shop."

They walked in but James stood where he was, waiting to be noticed by Harry, but all Harry noticed was Chantelle.

"Harry!" James shouted at the top of his lungs. Everyone turned to him, then to Harry, then started whispering to each other. In a matter of seconds he could hear screaming of girls circling around Harry, and James sighed angrily. After an hour and a half of Harry glaring at James and signing autographs, Chantelle and James waited side by side until the bell rang for the mall to be closed. When they exited in silence he heard a girl say "this is where the Little Mix members were on Friday," and Harry suddenly realised that this is where Liam must have met Jesy.

When they walked to the parking lot Chantelle moved away from Harry and went more towards James. She knew that Harry fancied her, but the only way he tried to get her was the money he had bought clothes from. She looked down at the shopping bags she was carrying and silently swore to herself that she would never wear any of them. Never ever. Harry wanted a Limo to ride back but James said they were way too late already, and for the first time Harry didn't argue about going in a taxi.

On the taxi drive back no one said a word, especially Chantelle who moved as far as she could from Harry. It was useless trying to comfort her. The taxi driver started asking questions such as “how was your day?” but the only answer was “good,” from James and then there was silence again. Harry looked outside the window and knew that all his hopes with Chantelle were broken, as he knew she was more on James’s side of the battle. He wished he had listened to him more.

They reached Palmside Street to drop Chantelle off, and she stepped off saying not a word but a quiet “thanks” to the driver, and gave a wave to James. After all, James did not do anything bad, but then she felt sorry for Harry for spending his money for her three bags of clothes. Who cares, she thought. She then ran away without looking back.

It was so awkward when Chantelle was gone. Even the taxi driver didn't speak. James looked at Harry and could almost see something evil coming out of his mind. He couldn't make out what Harry was thinking, but he knew it would involve himself getting into trouble because Chantelle fancied him and Harry was jealous. He never used to be like that.

When they reached Harry’s house James insisted on staying in the taxi, but Harry made him come inside. He had a plan.

“Harry. What did you think!” Louis shouted. Harry pointed at James.

“He met this girl and wouldn’t stop buying all this stuff from her. He took all my money and when I told him we should go, all these fans swarmed around me. I didn’t do anything!”

James looked really angry.

“Harry, that was you –“

“James, piss off!” Niall said, and James walked to the door and shut it behind him loudly.

Liam sat up upright. They were so loud he heard the whole conversation and finally got what was going on after a while. By the sound of James’s voice he could tell that he was telling the truth, not Harry. He really wanted to know what was going on so bad he forgot all about the Jesy situation. Fortunately he had James’s number so he dialed the numbers showing on the screen. After one ring someone answered.
