Everything has changed. A load of EAHLF's (Energy Adapted Human Life Forms) have taken over when everything is destroyed. Lilienna is forced to help the human race continue from where it left off when the destructive energy wave passes through. The normal routine of the people dying, then being saved is broken and the long road to recovery is ahead. But is the power plant the only place where the energy can be stored? Are there other places or is it UNSUSTAINABLE....

4. New EAHLF

I could hear my heart in my ears. My throat and tongue were very dry and kind of reminded me of sandpaper. I could feel the floor turning around me and I felt really sick. This was good as any place to die. I felt so light headed that I couldn't walk anymore, I just crawled. My legs felt like they were about to fall off and all my mussels hurt. I had to find help. But where? I was the only one left in this crazy world. I started to cry again, but I caught myself and stopped. Life was about survival now and if I cried, to somebody (or something) in the same position as me might see that as a weakness and decide to attack with the last of their remaining effort. Life's hard. My mother had said that a lot to tease me when I said something was unfair. But she's gone now, never to return.

My thoughts turned to what I had saw on the TV when THIS had happened. Should I trust what that lady said? It sounded legitimate. But now everything is a fight, who can I trust? I decided to trust her but not to trust her so much it ends up getting me killed because she might turn out to be wrong. I wouldn't want to put my faith into something that wasn't true.

I had crawled about 600 meters. I was finding it really difficult but when I saw the power plant my hopes ascended. I was determined to get there, but then what? I didn't even know what was driving me to it. I just needed to get there and I would risk my life to get there. All for, what? There was something very strange going on and I was determined to find out what.

Mai and Eva were getting seriously bored. They were sat down in the shade of the power plant, panting and fanning themselves, playing rock, paper, scissors. They were doubtful of another EAHLF coming to join them, they would just die and they were fine with that.

"Hey guys! Were back!" came a yell. It was Woof. He looked so stupid with his I heart energy T-shirt made especially for him. Eva had made it for him when he wasn't quite so over weight, now his belly was sticking out of it. Marcus looked really annoyed.

"Yes we're back. No EAHLF. We're dead. We now have two choices-" Marcus was cut off by Mai.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's that?" she was pointing towards a pile. A moving pile! It was a girl, dying in the desert that was once a luscious forest. Eva ran out with super speed but then after 12 seconds of running decided not to use up the energy and just jogged over, hoping she would be in there in time.

"Something is really strange," said Marcus.

"There is always something strange with this place," said Woof.

Marcus ignored him and continued to talk. "When we walked down everything was as it should be, but on the way back, things were, I don't know how to explain it. It was just gone. Not there. A lot of trees weren't there; it was really hard to recognize the road, so I just followed my instinct on where the power plant." Woof was running around in circles, making whooping noises. He was weird.

"I told you, something is different this time," said Mai. She was also ignoring Woof, no one knew what was wrong with him. "Do you think this is our new EAHLF?" she asked, pointing at Eva carrying a young-ish looking girl in her arms, running at a slow steady speed towards them.
