11. Chapter 10

Jodie's POV:

"We're so disappointed in you Jodie. You're grounded all this week" mum tells me. "And weekend" dad adds in. I froze when it came down to telling what really happened. It just seemed easier to lie and tell them all what everyone was saying is true. The worse thing is that he gets away completely free and now I basically have no one to turn to. Kimberly won't even talk to me and she's meant to be my best friend. None of the others will. As for Harry; I don't know what to think. Should I trust what he says? I doubt Louis would tell anyone- he's actually not that bad and Stan does stir and twist things so it'd add up. But part of me can't help but think what if it's just a cover up and I can't really trust Harry? Aswell as the grounding from my parents, I've been given detention for three out of the 4 days left of this week and I've been sent home today.

Harry's POV:

Even her parents believe him. Really? How could they? And now they're sitting downstairs telling my mum how much of a disappointment she's been to them. I know she isn't lying; both me and mum saw her that night. She was in bits. You don't look like that if you were lying. I'm sitting at the top of the stairs listening to their conversation. They'd come over for dinner but Jodie stayed at home. "So how comes she isn't over for dinner?" mum asks. "She didn't want to. Makes me laugh she's been crying and acting all 'hard done by' yet she got herself in this mess" Mike- Jodie's dad tells her. No- they need to know the truth. But I can't just blurt it out to them, I have to see Jodie first. I hop down each step and place my shoes on once at the bottom of them.

There's no answer from the door so my only option is to climb up to her window. It's not difficult- I used to do it all the time when we were younger. Jodie's lying with her back facing the window when I get to the top; covered by a throw and her shoulders shaking slightly. As I step in she doesn't even move. "You really shouldn't leave your windows open like that" I laugh to myself. Her face is full of smudged makeup when she turns. Tears splutter from her eyes. She looks so vulnerable once again. How can someone do that and then lie, infront of her parents and staff too? It's disgusting. "Jode, please don't cry" I sympathize but she lies back down; turning her head from me again. "I bet they're telling your mum right now and she'll probably hate me too. Just like everyone else". "Er, I don't hate you" I take a seat on her bed and wrap an arm round her to give slight comfort. The smallest grin appears on her face, "Thank you Harry". "Right, you're coming with me and I don't care whether you're grounded- I'll take the blame" I pull her to her feet. She doesn't argue with me, instead wipes off every inch of makeup she previously wore and pulls her hair into a high messy ponytail.

Jodie's POV:

We ended up going for pizza. And now we're back in the car. "Where's the nearest park?" Harry racks his brain but still gets no where with thinking. "There's one up the road from us Harry" I laugh. He chuckles deeply, "Yeah but a different one. Or anywhere- somewhere peaceful". "Here's fine, except we're on a busy road. Park by a field and it'll be peaceful" I smile. The engine starts; it only takes a 5 minute drive before we've pulled over; just inside a field. Obviously there's nothing around and it's pretty dark outside. The occasional street lights just down from the field light up the sky ever so slightly. Harry leans over and grabs two blankets; passing one to me and keeping one for himself. "Right, now put your seat back for me". Both of us let our seats recline back til they can't go any further. "Remind me again what we're doing?" I raise my eyebrow, unsure of what he's actually doing. "Relaxing. Just you and me. We promised we'd spend time just us two together. And friends help each other out when they feel low so that's what I'm doing". Somehow I don't find his little speech reassuring. I think he too needs to get away from indoors, maybe because he knows the truth he can't stand listening to what everyone's saying. I'm probably wrong but there's a chance it could be that I suppose.

Harry's POV:

"Do you think we're closer than before?" I crack the silence by asking Jodie. She nods with a smile. "If one of us ever had feelings for the other at some point, would it ruin what we have?" I ask trying to hint. If I can't have her overall, I'd rather keep her as a friend than loose what we have completely. "No, not at all. Infact I-" she pauses. "So if I told you I love you it wouldn't bother you?" I lean in; across the middle of the car so my body is closer than it was before. She shakes her head; shrugging her shoulders at the same time. "And if I did this?" I leave a small peck on her cheek. To my surprise she sits up; to my level. A whisper croaks from her mouth, "I'd tell you I love you too and kiss you back". Our heads become extremely close but neither of us make the first move. Why when we've kissed before does it seem so hard and strange now? "I love you" I barely whisper. The warmness of Jodie's breath hits against my face as she smiles and talks, "I love you too". Our hands entwine; locking together. The spaces between my fingers are filled with Jodie's and they fit together so perfectly. Just as they do so, our lips meet. We start off with a slow and small kiss but it doesn't take long before it ends up full on. Jodie breaks apart from the kiss first, "So are we.. together?" A smile breaks from my mouth, "If you want". She too smiles and nods. "So. Um, will you be my girlfriend?" I awkwardly ask. "Do you know how long I've waited for you to ask that? And yes I will" she grins whilst hugging me tight. "You mean I wasted all this time thinking you only liked me as a friend when you didn't?" I laugh, "We best head home, we've been out for over an hour and you're grounded so.." I trail off before inclining my chair back to it's normal position and starting up the car.

Jodie's POV:

Harry takes my hand in his as I get out. "I'm so glad I can finally call you mine" he's voice deepens as he lowers his head to me ear. "I know my parents like you but at the moment I think it's best we don't tell them because, well they're pretty annoyed and 'disappointed' in me. They'll only use you as a punishment to me and say no about us". "I understand, it's the best thing to do" Harry smiles and knocks on my door. Our hands are still linked but hidden by our coats. "Where have you been? Did you forget your grounded?" Dad snaps as he sternly looks toward me. "Uh.. It was my fault. I insisted on taking her for dinner seeing as neither of us had anything. Sorry" Dad just nods at him and tells me to go in. I stand at the door with dad; watching Harry go back round to his after saying goodbye. Who knew how in some way today has actually been a good day.
