4. Raw

The rest of the night passed in a blur. A string of artists took the stage and I was overwhelmed with how many talented people were in attendance.

Taylor got her time to shine as she got up to perform her much anticipated - and demanded by fans - All Too Well from RED.

To say it was a moving, emotional and raw performance would be an understatement. Taylor really bared her soul on the stage. It was almost as if we were back in our bedrooms in high school sharing with each other.

I can't deny that I cried during and after the performance. I felt so proud of her in that moment. And I shared the heartbreak that fueled that raw and exposing performance. The lyrics reached places within me that I thought had been forgotten...

When Taylor returned to her seat, I stood to meet her and we folded into each others' arms. I still had tears in my eyes and more pricked at my eyes when we hugged. I felt her own tears on my shoulder and cheek as she pressed close into my body. "I'm so proud of you, Tay! That was amazing and raw and... Tragic. But now they can see how you feel. And soon, I know you'll climb high and be higher above them than you already are. And you'll show them... You'll prove them wrong. I just know it!"

"Thank you darling! I'm so glad that I'm here with you tonight. I wouldn't want anyone else by my side." She turned her head and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

I smiled back at her and we took our seats. Hugh came back on stage and began introducing the next Grammy category. Without looking, I lifted my hand and placed it on top of Taylor's in her lap.

Without looking down or worrying, she  took hold of my hand and squeezed it in response.
