19. The Library and Break

Lea woke up two days after the attack on Justin. It was Saturday, which meant no lessons. Fawks had not gotten Raven a salmon yet, though.

Lea decided to spend her weekend in the Library. Soon after, Hermione joined her. They worked on opposite sided of the Library, each going through half. Lea got through half of her half that day.

She went through the rest on Sunday, Hermione had just gotten through one shelf on her side. On Monday, Lea went to Severus for help.

"I need a pass for the restricted section of the library, Severus," Lea said to him.

"Why," Severus asked, not looking up from his desk. Potions had just ended for the day.

"For research on the Chamber."

"Here," he said, scribbling a note. He thrust it into her hand, clearly hating the fact that he had said he would help her.

Lea read and memorized that whole section in two school days. She decided to leave Hermione to her work and wonder around the castle.

Lea passed the time until Christmas break that way. She decided to go home for Christmas.

When she arrived, Lea walked into a baby shower. Lea's mother was talking with some women that were apparently new to their small village. Lea found out that her mother was having a baby girl.

Lea's mother came and hugged her. "This is my daughter Lea, everyone," her mother said as she pushed Lea in front of her. The women all greeted her.

Lea soon learned that they had come to study at the college. Lea was a little over whelmed and went up to her room to sleep.

The next day Lea was making herself and her mother breakfast when her mother came downstairs. Suddenly there was a huge BANG outside. They both ran to the door.

To Lea it sounded like someone apperated. It was actually a blue Chevy. It had broken down in front of their house.

A man in a dark blue suit stepped out of the car. He walked up and asked if there was a phone he could use. They let him use the house phone. Half an hour later, he left with a tow truck and Lea didn't see him until much later.

Lea decided that, during break, she would open a vault at Gringotts. She dumped 3/4 of her money into it. She kept the rest in muggle money, just incase she needed it.

Lea's Christmas was uneventful after that, until Severus came to talk to her. Apparently, the Minister of Magic wanted to talk to her. It was to find out about her shape-shifting powers.

Lea's mother was anxious about the meeting. She only calmed down after Lea told her that she could sit in with her and if she thought the Minister did something that was thought to be inappropriate, Lea's mother would stop the Minister.

He came two days later. The Minister was a short man with sandy blonde hair, a pot belly, and had on a green blower hat. He wore a black and green robe and small little glasses.

"Let's get this started, shall we," he asked Lea. The Minister had a small, meek voice, that sounded as if he needed to clear his throat.

"My name is Cornelius Fudge. I am the Minister of Magic," he said introducing himself.

"Lea Talbot, this is my mother Amelia," she told him. "Did I do something wrong?"

"No, I want to discuss your unusual powers. It is my belief that you are very strange."

"Do not call my daughter names, Mr. Fudge," Lea's mother told him.

"I meant no offenses, ma'am. I was just trying to.... literate how unique these powers of hers are if what is said is true," Fudge said.

"They are, now if you'll excuse me, I must go back to the school," Severus said. He had stayed to see the Minister in. Lea smile a goodbye to him and he left with a BANG.
