Crystal Waters

Topaz and Sapphire are for the most part two average sisters. They lived with their Mom and Dad in a wealthy home. One day, they came home to their mom sobbing, all her belongings gone. Their father had disappeared and taken all of their money. Later that year, their mom went missing. Not because she left, but because she was killed. They want to get revenge. One more thing,

They're Mermaids.

5. Stalkers

Topaz

I groggily roll out of bed the next morning. I stretch my back from the rock solid bed and wander over to Sapphire's bed and wake her up. We quickly gather our bags and head down to the lobby. I decide to skip breakfast and go hunting on the way to the library. I head out to the stables to get the seahorses while Saph refills our canteens.

"Hello girls, did you get a good rest?" Star nuzzles my side and I stroke her head. Kona comes over and I saddle her up. I put Star's saddlebag on and tie Kona onto it. I lead them outside where Sapphire is waiting with our juice.

"Hey, thanks for filling those up," I say as I hop onto Star's back.

"Ya, no problem, thanks for getting Kona," She kisses Kona on the cheek and unties the rope.

"Ready," I ask eagerly.

"Yup, let's go to the south side by the library and hunt for a little bit. The sheep head are bountiful there!" She replies with a flourish in her fancy accent. I giggle and we head out.

I readjust my trident on my back as we head to the caves to tie Star and Kona up. They nicker patiently as we swim out.

"We'll be back soon," I smile, wave, and catch up to Sapphire. I decide to practice with my spear so I switch out the heads on my trident handle.

Sapphire decides to cover the reef while I swim to the depths. We'll meet in the cave. I swim down. Deeper, and deeper. 12 ft... 24 ft.... 45 ft.. 50 ft. I stop to catch my breath and dig around for my dive light. I shine it around and spot a shimmering tail. The sheep head has just enough time to swim out of the way as I launch my spear at it. I miss it by an inch and angrily retrieve my weapon. I glide into deeper water by the rocks and see a movement in the coral. I go to the other side and the trout glares at me from its spot in the rocks. It doesn't have time to even process the thought that there is something coming its way, until it's too late. My spear is embedded into the trout's skull. Good, I think, this should be enough meat for a day or so. Sapphire is already waiting for me with a bundle of minnows in her net and a small sheep head. I drag the huge trout to the surface.

"Hey, looks like you got a nice catch for breakfast," She grins at me.

"Yup, and thats enough minnows to feed Kona and Star for a week!" I giggle and pat Star's head affectionately while I split the trout head between her and Kona. "That's enough girls, you get minnows later," I emphasize the word later and slide the fish into my saddle bag. "Ready? We need to head to Aquatica Library and do some research for Arsenal," Saph rolls her eyes at the mention of our Father's name, I agree, Some Father. We call him father because he doesn't deserve to be called "Dad".

Sapphire takes off at a full gallop towards the library. "Hey! Wait up!" I shout, laughing, as I urge Star to go faster. In no time, we arrive at the library. Saph and I lead the dolphins to the stables and tie them up. We go back to the front and get a good look at the famous library. The tall building looms over us as we swim in. The librarian greets us as we head over to the computers. I type in the name Arsenal Waters, and tap my fingers on the desk impatiently as the page loads. Sapphire stands above me nervously biting her nails, as she does when she is nervous. I gasp as the page pops up and we finally realize what new horrors await us.
