Crystal Waters

Topaz and Sapphire are for the most part two average sisters. They lived with their Mom and Dad in a wealthy home. One day, they came home to their mom sobbing, all her belongings gone. Their father had disappeared and taken all of their money. Later that year, their mom went missing. Not because she left, but because she was killed. They want to get revenge. One more thing,

They're Mermaids.

7. Adrenaline Rush

Topaz

As we ride Kona and Star to the library, panicked thoughts fill me. What if we get caught? What if Neptune finds us? All of our work will be lost! We'll never find Arsenal! I push those thoughts away and keep riding. The plan plays over, and over in my mind.

1. Go in with your trident, and disable the alarm.

2. Sapphire will go grab the book while I print out the research papers

3. Go out the back door and to the stables.

4. Sleep in the stables for the night and head out to "Sapphire's Surprise Location," before dawn.

I take a deep breath, we can do this! Sapphire looks at me and grins. Kona and Star come to a screeching halt in the front building. I quickly tie them up and swim to the top of the building. Saph goes around the side to disable the sensors. I'm relatively decent with security systems , well, I would need to be, escaping the palace to hunt. Cut blue wire, leave red, push yellow button. I remember from sneaking out in the mornings, good timesBEEEEEEEP! System Disabled. The words flash on the screen, and I slide down the ladder. Saph picks the lock with her bobby pin and the doors pop open. I quickly head over to the computers and print out the research. The door to the stable is unlocked as I quietly open them. Sapphire is already there with Kona and Star, comforting them from waking them up in the middle of the night. I prepare our beds on the hay and lay down. Wow, I think to myself, a lot has happened in the past few days. I slowly drift off to sleep thinking of what our punishments would be if Neptune were to catch us.

I wake up to Sapphire screaming in my ear.

"Seriously, you didn't have to yell," I say rubbing my ear.

"At least it's better than slapping you with a rotten fish," She laughs and I roll my eyes. "Well sleepyhead, are you ready to ride? We are going to Juneau. It's the best salmon hunting in the Pacific!"

My mouth waters at the mention of salmon. I never get tired of eating fish, and salmon is my personal favorite. I haven't had salmon since my mom took Saph and I on a salmon hunt when we were young. I can't wait, it's going to be so fun. I greedily dig into the last of our smoked trout while Sapphire feeds Kona and Star the last of the minnows. I pat them on the back and decide to ride bareback. Luckily, the dolphins don't have to be left behind once we arrive at the breeding grounds. They are really good fish trackers, and salmon are fast so they have to catch them for us. We use them how land dwellers would use dogs or birds to hunt. Star starts whinnying with excitement, she knows what is coming. Neptune bought them already trained to hunt, they know the word "salmon." Although Neptune never had time to take us hunting, they still remember that word. Eagerly, I climb onto Star and Saph, likewise onto Kona. We take off at a slow gallop, wanting to save our energy for the rapids up ahead. I know that I can never go back to living in the palace. Getting to do anything you want, living on your own, pure freedom. I feel the water in my hair, and the smooth movements of Star's swimming, and yet again, that overwhelming adrenaline rush comes over me.
