5. Awakening the beast

One week later…

Natasha was worried… Jake still wasn’t out of his coma. Again she felt mixed emotions, but for a different problem, one she wasn’t even prepared for... She came running out of her room and slammed Barry’s door open, almost breaking the hinges off. Barry jumped from his couch and looked at Natasha and asked, “Natasha, what’s wrong?” Natasha exclaimed “Barry, I’m pregnant.” Barry was stumped. “Sorry could you say that again? It sounded like you said you are pregnant.” He said cleaning his ears out. “Barry, I’m pregnant with Jake’s child.” She said again. “Wait, you are telling me that you and Jake ‘got together’?” He asked. Natasha only gave a nod as an answer. “I’m scared Barry. Not because of the child, but because Jake is in a coma and he can’t hear the news and what’s even worse, he won’t remember me or anything.” She said crying. Blade came rushing into Barry’s room. “I have news, Jake is awake.” He spoke. Everyone jumped from joy. “Natasha, why are you wearing loose clothing and not your armor?” Blade asked skeptically. “I just found out I am pregnant with Jake’s child.” Blade stood there like a zombie with a blank expression. He regained his composure and asked, “I’m sorry what did you say?” Natasha was getting irritated. She yelled, “I SAID IM FREAKING PREGNANT WITH JAKE’S CHILD, CAN’T YOU PEOPLE HEAR!?!” Blade apologized and said, “This is unexpected. We are going to help Jake regain his memory and then you can tell him, until then you are only going to help him regain his memory, just acting as friends, got it?” Natasha nodded and went to the hospital to go see Jake.

Jake was sitting in his bed, remembering nothing. A doctor came in and spoke, “Good morning, how are you doing today?” Jake asked confused, “I have a huge headache. Who am I? Where am I?” The doctor looked at him and asked, “You don’t remember anything? What do you know?” Jake replied tilting his head sideways, “English.”

Natasha was walking through the bazaar side of the city. She decided not to go visit Jake as it would only make her more depressed. She rather started to search for Barry’s girlfriend’s house. She wanted to meet new people, maybe someone she can talk to. She knocked on the door and a woman opened it. “Oh hey there you must be Barry’s friend. Please come in.” Natasha stepped in and saw the girl’s apartment was the same as her, only everything is hot pink and dark red. “I like your house.” Natasha said with a smile. “Thank you.” The woman said “I’m Chelsea by the way. Sorry that Jake has memory loss. What did my cousin do this time?” “Wait, you and Jake are cousins?” Natasha almost yelled in shock. Chelsea gave her a nod as a response and said, “Yes, he was always taking care of himself and me too when I went to visit him, and even when he were little he tried to protect me from my abusive parents when he visited me. He had a rough past, and not remembering who he is, his friends or even his pregnant girlfriend is hard. Congratulations on the baby by the way.” “Thank you.” Natasha said rubbing her hand over her stomach and muttering to herself, “Jake, please remember me soon, I want you with me.”

Meanwhile... Outside the mountain…

The guard was walking around, not wandering from his patrol post. There was no wind, no clouds, no noise, and just cold dead silence… until there was a long howl along with a few more. The guard rushed inside and ran towards the tower. He came into the control room and exclaimed, “Zombies are on the move! They are closing around our mountain and I heard the howls. It sounds like there about a thousand of them out there by now.” Blade turned around and spoke, “get the defenses ready… alarm the gunners.” The guard ran back out and rang a type of bell to signal the people of an impending zombie attack. Everyone ran into their homes and prepared for the coming zombies. Blade looked at the village from the tower and asked, “How is Jake performing? Did he at least remember who HE was?” A nearby medic answered, “He regained memories from his childhood up to when he first discovered his powers and we are currently training him how to use it, hopefully it will speed up his ability to regain his memory.” Blade rested his hand on the medic and said to him slowly, “Get him into his armor and ready him for the rising storm, we must protect the village from the zombie virus as best and as long as we can.” The medic stepped onto the elevator and it descended onto the base of the tall tower. He rushed down to the training hall finding Natasha and Barry watching Jake train. He came up to them and said, “We need Jake to suit up and come with us, there is a huge zombie mob forming around the mountain and he is our best hope.” Natasha, surprised at the news, stood up and scolded the medic, “Listen, I don’t care if it is Blade or the freaking leader of the zombies that is giving this stupid order, but Jake is not ready, he still has memory loss and I cannot afford to lose him!” Barry held Natasha back and told the medic to get Jake ready.

After getting him suited up he was standing at the entrance gate of the mountain. Even standing a few meters away he can hear the pounding on the gate and the groans from the hungry zombies. He was scared. No, he was terrified. There he was… barely able to remember himself and now he is facing zombies with his own powers he scarcely knows about, but it is time to man up. He drew in a deep breath, focusing on the task at hand. He formed his tiger claws and got in position. He looked sternly at the door. No more Mr. Nice guy. He stood there, not making a movement as the outer walls of the mountains slowly open. The zombies rushed in groups of five, each going a different direction. All the turrets and men armed with guns started blazing all over, reducing the zombies. Jake jumped high up in the air, dust trailing behind him. When he started falling, he drew his arms back as he plummeted to the ground. When he landed on his feet he punched the ground beneath him, and thanks to his double muscle mass, caused the ground to crack and shake. He smiled seeing a few groups of zombies falling into the new formed fault-line. Jake leaped forward and broke the skull of a nearby zombie. He spun around and gave the next zombie a hard uppercut. The zombie was sent crashing into more zombies, acting like a bowling game. “Strike!” Jake shouted out loud. With the speed of a cheetah and other animals, he zoomed past the zombies, knocking them down as he passed by. He killed most of the zombies by himself.

More zombies poured out of the mountain gates and they looked angry, Jake could swear half the state of Texas was coming in. After killing all of the zombies, everything was quiet. Jake stared at the open mountain gate like he was expecting more, and he got what he was waiting for. Under his feet he can feel the ground trembling. He stood still, like he was glued to the spot. He saw a zombie, but nothing like those he fought before. This zombie was bigger than the average, had double the biceps and muscles and looked UGLY! The zombie growled and groaned. Jake ran up to him and punched him in the gut. The zombie looked down and swatted Jake away like a little insect. Jake got up and approached him again, this time hitting the zombie square in the jaw. Jake moved swiftly and dodged the zombie’s attacks. He punched and kicked every inch of the zombie’s body, but still had no effect. The zombie effectively scratched Jake across the chest. Jake ripped off his ruined upper-armor and saw the damage. Three slash marks, followed by little blood seeping out the large wounds. He felt something inside of him, a beast, fueled by rage and something else, was waiting to be unleashed. He pushed the feeling down and ignored it. “Sharpshooter! I need backup!” Jake screamed into his earpiece. Barry replied, “We know, were watching it as we speak, keep him busy, I got a gift for the big guy.” That was something. Jake looked back to see the zombie, but when he turned his head he was met with a right-hook punch from the zombie. Jake held his ground, kicking the place one man (or zombie) would never wish to be kicked. The zombie groaned and held his groin area. Jake smiled and, like spider-man, shot out streams of webbing onto the zombie, holding him in place. Sharpshooter came running in with an old shotgun. He slid under the zombie and shot him straight in the face. The zombie stopped struggling and when Barry kicked it in the back, it fell onto the floor like a tree. “Timber!” he yelled out victoriously. He can’t think without a head (hopefully).

“Well that was fun.” Sharpshooter said amusingly. Jake chuckled and clutched his head, as if his having a seizure. “Hey are you ok?” Sharpshooter said. Jake didn’t respond because he was in too much pain. Natasha came down from the tower and ran up to Jake. Jake was gasping for air. His mind was feeling like liquid, memories flowing back into him. He finally looked up and saw his two friends look at him. “I… I remember… everything. I REMEMBER!!!” He shouted at the top of his lungs, tears of joy running down his face. Natasha was so happy and kissed Jake. Sharpshooter gave Jake a nice bear-hug. “It’s good to have you back, but what made you remember?” He asked. Jake replied, “When you two came rushing towards me to help me, I remembered how I helped you at the helicopter and when I saw Natasha, I guess I can say I remembered how much I loved her.” But Jake felt something was wrong, like the battle wasn’t over yet. A figure came out of a nearby shadow. Jake saw white eyes when he looked at the figure. Natasha and Barry also looked at the figure. Jake was shocked to see who the figure was when his face was visible. The figure spoke with a deep and evil voice, “It’s good to see you again… brother”
