Finding My Soul Mate. A 1DFanfic.

13 year old Lucy hates her life. Her older sister, Amy doesn't have a care in the world about her and her dad is a work-aholic. Without a mum in her life she has nothing better to do than run away from home, making a soul mate along her travels, Niall Horan from One Direction.

38. Remembering and the interview.

"Lucy?... Lucy?" I groaned and flipped my body over, so my face was in the pillow. "Lucy, dad's here. Wake up!" I smiled and turned back to face them. "Hey love, how you doing?" He asked me. I nodded once and blinked, not trusting my voice. "Do you want me to get you anything?" I could tell he was trying to be sweet. I mean, I may be in hospital and everything and I may have lost my memory, but I'm still the same and so is he. Why should he have to be nice just because I can't move or because I only have one arm? OK, maybe he could be a little nice but it's going to feel weird. I cleared my throat. "I could do with a glass of cold water." I smiled. My dad got up and walked out of the room. A couple of minutes later, he walked back in with a glass of water and his phone pressed to his ear. He handed me my water and sat on the chair. "No, I can't my daughter is in the hospital and she needs me right now." I heard a muffled sound and then my dad spoke again. "Great, that's fine. Thanks for understanding." He ended the call with a smile. "Who was that?" I asked, taking a sip of my water. "Just my boss telling me that I could have the rest of this year off. He said I would still get paid but he's knocking one hundred off my normal amount." He smiled again as the doctor walked in. "I see you're awake" He smiled. "How's the memory?" He pointed to his head with a pen and walked over to the machine next to my bed. "Still the same, I don't remember much but I think I kind of remember Liz and Holly." Doctor Cartwright nodded and writ something on the clipboard in his hand. "Hopefully, your dad and sister will help with your memory more today. You'll need to take this medication every two hours for your knee, arm, collar bone and ribs" He placed a box of some kind of tablets on the small table next to my bed. "A nurse will come in and help with the other medication you need which will have to be injected into your left arm-"

"What left arm?" I laughed but then it turned to a frown. I guess to make myself feel better, I make jokes out of the situation. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. In this case, it didn't work. "You will also need some food at around 2." He continued, ignoring my statement. "OK, what time is it now?" He looked at his wrist. "Only ten o'clock." I nodded and thanked the doctor before he walked out.

"Eloise? Eloise Allen?" Both of their eyes went wide. "You remember her?" Amy jumped up and grabbed my hand in hers. "I think so!" I tightened my fingers around Amy's hand and let a little scream out. "That's amazing, love. I'm proud of you!" My dad was almost as excited as me. "Proud of me? It was you that helped me remember my best friend. Thank you!" We all hugged and carried on talking about my past, filling me in on everything that's happened and the people I've met.

"Dad, could I just talk to Lucy for a second?" Amy stood up and looked down at my dad as he sat next to my bed. "Sure thing. I'll be in the cafe downstairs."

Amy looked at me with a sad smile. "What? What is it?" I asked, worried. "Do you remember him, them?" She looked to the ground, sat down and held my hand. Who was she talking about? "Remember who?" Her eyes met mine again. "Niall, Louis, Liam, Zayn and Harry?" I thought about it. "Those names mean nothing to me. Were they important to me?" I started to worry and my hand shook as it sat in Amy's. "Does One Direction ring any bells?" She then asked, ignoring my previous question. I shook my head, no. "I guess I'll just have to remind you then or at least try." Just as she was about to carry on, two men, one with a camera, the other with one of those fancy microphone things you use for TV shows and films and a woman with a voice recorder, walked into my room. "You guys can't be in here!" A nurse shouted from behind them. "I'm so sorry miss, I couldn't stop them." She spoke to me. "That's alright but who are they?" I looked at Amy then to the people who had just walked in. "They're from the news department. They want to do an interview with you that will be broadcast all over the world, about your accident." I didn't know if this was even legal but they were here anyway so I thought I'd be nice and accept. After all, they did travel here just to interview me and I will be on television! I nodded at the nurse but she didn't leave. "I guess it wouldn't hurt." I smiled at the nice looking lady with blonde hair.

After they explained to me what would be happening, they began the interview.

Harry and Liam followed me into the living room as Zayn and Louis walked into the kitchen. I switched on the TV and flopped down next to Liam on the sofa. After flicking through all the channels, I found nothing was on so I settled on the news. I noticed Liam was on Twitter answering questions and following a few fans and Harry was doing something on his phone. I turned my attention to the TV screen. A big sign saying 'BREAKING NEWS' flashed up on the screen so I turned it up. A woman with blonde hair showed up with a microphone. Liam's attention was also on the news now. The woman stood in front of a white wall and a door to the left of her. A hospital maybe?

"Hello there, my name is Elizabeth Evans and I'm here at the Central Hospital in Ohio, America." She took a quick pause. "Yesterday at around noon there was a car collision including two cars on the off road about an half hour away from Ohio's famous amusement park. One car, driving recklessly, lost control and spun off the off road and smashed, with great force, into another car containing four passengers. Those of the names of Andrea Shipton, Elizabeth Shipton, Holly Carter and Lucy Catchpole" My heart sank in my chest. Lucy Catchpole? The Lucy we all know and love? It can't be. I turned the volume up a little more and got Harry's attention. Zayn and Louis has just walked in so I told them to shut up and watch the news. "The incident left all families in fright at the thought of losing one of their close family members. Thankfully all passengers are alive and well." Pictures of the car wreck and incident scene showed in the bottom corner of the screen. Two cars badly smashed, one on it's side, the other on it's wheels. The news reporter explained more of what happened and the words that caught my attention most was "And here I am with one of the passengers, Lucy" The camera moved to face a beaten down girl laid on a hospital bed. She waved to the camera and gave a smile. "Hi, sorry I'm not looking my best. Haven't had a shower in a while." She laughed and grabbed someones hand. "It's lovely to meet you, Lucy. I wouldn't know how to feel if I was in your position right now. Tell us what's it's like and how you're feeling?"

"If I'm completely honest, I don't know how to feel myself but I'm liking it here, obviously apart from everything that happened. The food here is great so that's good, the doctors and nurses are really nice about everything. The only thing I don't like are the beds, they aren't the comfiest things but I'll have to get used to it I suppose." She laughed and blinked rapidly a couple of times. "Good and how long do you expect to be in here or at least this room?"

"I'm not quite sure how long I'll be in the hospital but I don't mind, I have my dad and sister with me to help me remember things and keep me entertained but as for this room, I'm actually hoping I could try and walk around a little if I feel up to it tomorrow." Lucy smiled at the camera and itched her nose. "That's good. If it's alright with you, could you tell us about your injuries you suffered from the accident?" The reporter asked in a hopeful tone. "Sure. Well I should probably mention my memory first 'coz that's the worse. As the other car hit ours, it hit on the side I was sitting at so my whole body jerked and I hit my head really hard so the doctor that has been treating me, told me that I had memory lost and wouldn't remembering anything or anyone from my past and that's what I meant by my dad and sister are helping me to remember. It was quite scary at first, I didn't remember my sister, Amy and I made her cry by shouted for help when she grabbed my hand which I still feel bad for. Erm, I lost my left arm in the accident as well, as you can see." The camera turned to what used to be Lucy's full left arm. Tears were streaming down mine and Louis' face at this point. She seemed so calm about the whole thing. "I don't really like to look at it because it reminds me of the whole thing and I feel ugly and self cautious. I've tried to move it like I would with my normal arm and it does move but, I don't know, I just hate it!" Lucy started to cry as she prodded the stud with her right hand finger. "Luckily none of my ribs broke, they just bruised badly. My collar bone is bruised too so it hurts when I move my head or upper body. I also smashed my knee cap on the back of the passenger seat, my entire left side is covered with bruises, gashes and cuts and apart from a few cuts on my face and right side, that's it." My mouth dropped open as Lucy told the reporter how many injuries she has. I wish I was there with her because I would just hold her. "Well you're a brave girl in my opinion, Lucy. I bet your parents are proud of you" The camera was in view of both Lucy and the news lady. "I know that my dad is because he told me a couple of hours ago but as for my mum, I wouldn't know. She died when I was only four, in a car crash but even though she isn't here, she'd be proud of me, I just know she would." I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't watch Lucy as she laid there. I couldn't listen to the hurt in her voice. So I switched the TV off. The room was silent. None of us said anything or knew what to say for that matter. We'd be in America by the end of this week because the Ireland leg of the tour only had seven shows and we've done five already. But honestly, I don't think I could wait that long to see her. Someone finally spoke up, it was Louis. "My baby sister!" He cried into Zayn's shoulder. Zayn rubbed his back while he hugged him. "Why? Why did this happen to such a lovely girl?" He literally screamed. "Louis, we're all in shock but shouting wont help." Harry spoke. "I will shout when I want to, Harry! That girl is like my little sister!" Harry sighed and gave up on trying to calm Louis down. "Her memory, what if she doesn't remember us?" Zayn then says. He's right. I don't think I'd be able to live if Lucy doesn't remember us. She means everything and more to me. I could talk to her about anything, have meaningless conversations with her at 3 in the morning and laugh with eachother, play fight, cry to eachother but most importantly, I don't think I'd be able to put up with that face that the girl I'm falling in love with, might not even remember me. "Lets just get to the end of the week then we'll be in America. When we get there, we'll figure things out from there, OK?" Liam asked. We all nodded and wiped our tears away. I just hope, I'll even get on my hands and knees and pray if I have to, that Lucy remembers me, remembers us.

When those people from the news station left, my dad came running back into my room. "Did you see that?" He panted deep breaths and place his hands on his knees as he bent down. "Yeah, I'm came running up the stairs because the lift was taking the P." My dad isn't the one to swear so instead of saying the actually word he says the first letter. "Why did you run up? I'm fine, you know?" I laughed a little as he sat down on the edge of my bed. "I know baby but, I don't even know why I ran." We all laughed. "Do you remember anything else?" He asked me. "Well I definitely remember Eloise now and Liz and Holly. The name Josh keeps popping up, who's he?" I looked from my dad to Amy, then back to my dad. "He's a boy you met on the plane when we moved to America. You became really good friends but he lives in London near our old house." Amy explained. I nodded and tried to think more about him. Josh... brown hair... brown eyes... "Daisy?" That name popped up in my head as I thought about Josh. "I think she's Josh' little sister." I nodded and thought some more. Dancing... He likes dancing... Josh... I remember something about him calling me.. Lala?  "Joshy!" I remembered him.

My memory was slowly, but surely, coming back to me! They smiled at me as I squealed. I'm so happy that I'm starting to remember some people. Some more names popped up in my head but my eyes started to close. "Get some sleep, kiddo. We'll be here in the morning." Amy's face was the last thing I saw before falling into a deep sleep.
