Our Destiny (Sequel to Fallen)

It's been a year since Karla started to remember, and everything looks perfect. It feels perfect. But the burden from her being an orphan, and both of her parents dying because of her, keeps adding more weight on her shoulders. When Justin and Karla find themselves in a situation they can't get out of, will their love be enough?

19. Lack of oxygen

Justin's POV

My heart sunk deep into my chest as I watched her run away into the cornfield. I truly loved her, with all of my heart. Believe me, I didn't want to die either, I mean, who does? But if I had to choose between my life ending or hers, the choice was obvious. I quickly turned around to face him. Rhett was now standing on his feet, and his face was bright red of rage. "Look boy, I wouldn't mind hurting you, but right now you're just taking up my precious time here, what you're trying to stop is inevitable." He said and shrugged his shoulders. I took a deep breath and looked at him. "I can't let you hurt her." I said and tried looking as confident as possible. "Fine mate, but you'll regret it." He said, and suddenly he came running against me with a loud scream. In the last second I moved to the side, causing him to storm into the corn. I went in after him, but he was gone. Oh crap. Of course he ran to get Karla. I moved too impulsive and didn't think before I acted, instead I gave him the perfect opportunity to come storming after her. I was completely blind in the dark cornfield. I stopped mid step and listened. The silence was devastating, you would've thought that he would make somewhat of a noise. All I could think was that Karla had to be safe, nothing else mattered. Suddenly I heard a noise behind me. Before I could turn around I felt an arm wrap around my neck. I couldn't breathe. I struggled and grabbed the arm that continued to choke me, but I was too weak. "Stop struggling, boy." I heard Rhett say behind me. The lack of oxygen made me useless. The edges of my sight started to turn black, I could feel my body failing me. At least my last thoughts would be of her. "I love you, Karla." Then, like a miracle, the pressure was released. I dropped to the ground, grasping for my breath. I heard a loud sound behind me, like someone fell. Then something that sounded like wood. I felt hands on my back and heard rapid breathing. Didn't it sound familiar? I looked to my right and saw a face I thought I'd never see again. "Karla." I said, still out of breath. I grabbed her waist and pulled her into my embrace. "You're okay, you're okay." I whispered in her ear. "I'm okay." She whispered. I kissed her scalp gently. "I love you so much, I couldn't just leave you here to die I had to do something I-" "Shhh." I silenced her. I felt her warm tears on my chest. "I love you Karla." I said and held her tight to my chest. I put my chin on her head and looked at the ground behind her. And there he was. The blood was dripping from his head and a baseball bat was laying beside him. I had one badass girlfriend.

-2 hours later-

"That's everything." Karla finished. Her cheeks were wet from all of the tears. I squeezed her hand and looked over at the police officer at the other end of the table. He exhaled loudly. "This man won't be going anywhere, we have him now. I bet you two are exhausted, you should go home, get some rest, we'll come back to you soon." Then something hit me. Mom. "Come on Karla let's go." I stood up and put my arm around her. "Wait here." I said when we got out to the hall. I let go of her and took out my phone. I had at least a hundred missed calls, most of them from dad. I pressed his name and put my phone to my ear. He answered before I heard the second beep. "Justin! Are you okay? Your mother has told me all she knows. She told me you went to look for Karla." I could hear the tears in his voice. I don't blame him. I would've been worried sick if I was in his position. "Yeah dad we're both fine, we're just about to leave the police station. I'll explain everything soon, how's mom doing?" "She's stable, the doctor's says she'll be fine." I looked over at Karla. She was wiping away the tears from her cheeks. "We'll come over tomorrow, I don't think we can deal with more in one night, bye dad." "Bye." I put my phone in my pocket and walked over to her. Once again I pulled her to my chest and embraced her. "Everything will be okay." I whispered and stroked her hair. "It'll be okay."

A/N Because I haven't updated in about a month (sorry) so to make it up to you this chapter is longer than others. The end is though near! D:
