Tanya is a 13 year old girl, who lives with her mum, dad and annoying older brother Lucas. He never leaves her alone, and he is always pestering her! She finds out that she actually has a long-lost identical twin sister, but they got separated at birth. Tanya can't wait to meet her sister, and she is so excited, but there is something not right about this. Little does Tanya know that a dark secret is being held back, but was it really her family holding it back or Tanya herself?

2. Promise

Tanya breathed  a routine to calm herself down. She was so excited but so nervous at the same time. She didn't know what to do. Her mother then came into her bedroom and peeped round the door: "Tanya, listen about this sister thing. I'm not sure you should do this, no matter what your brother says. Sorry, but I don't think you're ready, darling." Her mother smiled at her kindly, as if to say 'don't be mad'. Tanya shaped her red lips into an 'o' shape and stared at her mum. She couldn't believe her ears! She could feel the blood running up her neck, her blood boiling in her hot body. How could she do this to her? Right on the day! Tanya clenched her fists by her sides and opened her mouth as wide as she could. She suddenly screamed at her mother - "How could you do this to me? How could you say to me hours before I am going to meet her to tell me that I can't! You can't stop me from meeting my sister than you never let me see in the first place! I'm thirteen years old, I deserve to know now! She needs to meet me too, I'm sure. We're twins, mum, you can't let this happen!" Tanya collapsed to the carpeted floor and threw her head into her sweaty hands. She couldn't help herself, and just burst into tears uncontrollably. Tears seeped through the ridges in her hands, like a river meandering through the mountains. Her mum just stood there, not knowing what to do. She went to walk towards her daughter, then changed her mind. She slowly walked out the room to give her daughter some time alone. Tanya glanced up towards the wooden door and looked back down again. A heavy sigh escaped her lungs, on the verge of more tears, threatening to pour down her wet face. Sunshine shone through the window still, as if welcoming people outside into the warm wide world. Birds were singing happily without a care in the world, getting along with their everyday lives. Tanya wished that right now, she was one of the jolly birds, soaring through the open blue skies, doing whatever they pleased. To feel the wind rushing against her feathered wings as a bird would be an amazing feeling, Tanya thought. She pulled herself up with the support of her bed, and wiped down her clothes to get out the creases. Tanya closed her eyes and opened them again swiftly. Another sigh escaped her lungs and she looked out the window. Tanya walked towards it, and whispered to herself: "My sister. Ever since I found out you existed, I vowed to find you and meet you. Now this chance is in my grasp, there's no letting this go. My sister, I keep my promises. I'm coming to find you."
