Tanya is a 13 year old girl, who lives with her mum, dad and annoying older brother Lucas. He never leaves her alone, and he is always pestering her! She finds out that she actually has a long-lost identical twin sister, but they got separated at birth. Tanya can't wait to meet her sister, and she is so excited, but there is something not right about this. Little does Tanya know that a dark secret is being held back, but was it really her family holding it back or Tanya herself?

23. Hospital

Tanya lay still, no movement going on inside her body. Her brain froze, telling her to just stay still and not move a muscle. Her mum sat by her side in a hard blue chair, clutching Tanya's cold hand, her head bent onto it. Her mum was tired, black bags starting to appear under her azure blue eyes. She was trembling the whole time, having no idea what was happening to her daughter. A kind-looking nurse popped her head round the door, asking permission to enter the small room. Tanya's mum smiled back at the nurse, eager to hear the news she had to tell. "Mrs Marshall. We have some good and bad news about Tanya. Which news would you like to hear first?", asked the friendly smiling nurse politely. "The good news please.", replied Tanya's mother. "Well, we can tell you that Tanya is in safe hands, and control her fainting. However, the bad news is we still do not know why she is fainting so much. She may have a temporary illness or a permanent one. Professional doctors are examining her body every night to try and get one step closer to finding out what may be causing this. But at this precise moment, we don't know what's happening inside her small fragile body." The nurse smiled again at Mrs Marshall. Tanya's mother sat there in complete shock, her eyes looking at nothing in particular. Her hands were clasped to her face, covering her mouth. Her eyes were now glazing over in salty wet tears. She was determined to not let them fall though. She had to stay strong for her ill daughter. A speaker in the room sounded, the receptionist calling Mrs Marshall to the reception desk at the entrance of the hospital. The nurse promised to stay with Tanya until her mum got back. Mrs Marshall stood up slowly, taking one last glance at her child and walked out the door. She walked slowly down the winding corridors and past crying hurt children. A woman and a man sat by themselves in a waiting room, no one else around them. The man was covered in blood, and the woman was comforting him by rubbing his shoulder. Mrs Marshall carried on walking, eventually arriving at the reception desk. She placed her right arm onto the top and leaned over, looking expectantly at the receptionist. "Hello Mrs Marshall. We have been informed by the local police that your husband, Mr Marshall, has been involved in an arrest with five other people. A young boy going by the name of Dom or Dominic has been rushed to this very hospital by ambulance because of severe internal and external injuries." Mrs Marshall stood at the desk, shaking once again. Her daughter was in hospital, having fainted. She had run away earlier that day to find her twin sister. Her husband had been arrested. He had hurt her daughter's boyfriend. What else was going to happen to her today? Nothing else could possibly get any worse. The next thing she knew, two paramedics were rushing past her with her 16 year old son on a trolley...
