26. Chapter Twenty-Six

"So," Todd began after he got over his general shock.  "How are you going to tell them about all this?"  He gestured to the tree and then to me.

"I'm still wondering whether I will. Sometimes I think "yeah, go for it" and then I feel that they would just laugh and pull me out of school," Todd approached his car and jingled his keys in his pockets. I watched him as he walked in a kind of stride and all of a sudden I felt lonely. Life without Todd was often bland and simple.

"How is Cassandra?" My stomach knotted and I clutched it. Holding my fist to my mouth I choked back vomit. My face flushed and I broke out in a sweat. Todd turned around.

"I broke up with her. Hey, are you all right?" He patted my shoulder and I brushed him off. Maybe I was getting a bug.

"Just tired from all of the magic. Hey, do you think we could drive past Drake's house? Not stop but just so I can see him up in his room."

He smirked and tugged my hand towards the car. "You are so pathetic."

Drake was not alone. His room was occupied by one other than himself. The same with his lips.

Lilah was in his bedroom as well. The lights were on in the room and he was on top of her on his bed. His shirt was off and so was hers - I hoped that was the only thing removed from their bodies. Tears welled in my eyes as we drove past and Todd hit the accelerator immediately, hoping I wouldn't see. Oh, but I did.

I checked my makeup in the mirror and sighed. Black tears stained my cheeks and I was red and splotchy all over. The hairs on my arms were like steel poles and my stomach lurched again. Throwing open the door, making Todd slam his foot on the brakes, I vomited into the gutter and fainted.

Someone patted me with a wet towel as I woke. The flannel was cool and refreshing against my head but my jaw was still clenched, fighting back more of my stomach. Opening my heavy eyes, my cousin sat next to the bed. Todd's sister.

"Hey," she said softly, stroking my cheek. I moulded at her touch - so soft!

"Um, hi," I croaked. She laughed at my deep voice and patted her stomach. Her hand sat on a large bump that made her shirt stretch and her eyes glow. Her dimples suddenly appeared as she grinned.

     "Surprise. I'm pregnant!" She screamed.

Oh no. How many times had I vomited?
