One More Night

Lately in Dawn's life, things have been... Traumatic to say the least. First her parents die, not in a car crash but suicide. She has no idea why though. Then the next day her friends start disappearing one by one until there's hardly any left. What's been happening? Why is everyone dying? What's wrong with the town?

10. Chapter Six 3/3

I fell to my knees, kneeling down before my fireplace that stood in front of me. I felt like the strong and ferocious flames were almost mocking me, telling me that I was weak. The tears were streaming down my face and before I knew it, I was full out crying.

"Dawn..." Rosa whispers under her breath. She knelt down beside me and put one arm on my shoulder to calm me down. But then something hit me. My dad didn't take the car to work today, he walked and the person he usually gets a ride home from wasn't in today.

"It was him!" I exclaim, jumping up and knocking Rosa over. She picks herself back up and looks at me confused.

"Who?" She asks. She really is clueless isn't she? I wonder how many times she got dropped on the head as a child... I'm joking.

"Who do you think? New guy!" I shout, pointing to his house through the window. I hear my mother getting up from the couch and slowly making her way over to me. I already know whats shes going to say to me...

"Dawn! Don't you dare accuse that nice man of this! Just stay out of this and go outside! And don't go near that man's house! I don't need you making a fool of our family in front of the neighbours!" She growls, a hint of anger and sorrow in her tone of voice. I gasp in aspiration and slowly take two steps back. Did she really just say that to me? Am I a fool? Maybe I shouldn't have judged him so quickly. After all it's like that old saying "Never judge a book by its cover."
