The Hunger Games: Fresh Blood

Ok, so I love the Hunger Games. This is basically what I think the 76th Hunger Games would be like if there was no rebellion. Enjoy :)

12. Katniss

At the breakfast table the next morning, we begin to explain to Sofia and Tomas about the way today will work. First Sofia will have 4 hours with me for content with me, and Tomas with Peeta. Then they will have 4 hours presentation with Effie. After breakfast Sofia and I head down to her quarters to work on content.

I begin straight away. "I wan't you to act charming, but fierce as well. Hard to beat, but also likable. That way all the audience will get what they want. Can you do that?" I ask.

"Yeah, sure. I think. Let's try it anyway,"

I ask her questions and she answers them. "What do you find most impressive here?"

"The people, they sure have a good taste. Of food that is." Sofia answers, playing the likable card.

"Now tell me about that 12," I ask, wandering what she will say.

"Well, the gamemakers were drunk." She pauses. "But at least a few of them must have been watching." I laugh at that.

After an hour I think we have pretty much covered everything, how she should react to certain questions etc. I tell her she can go, when I remember one last thing. "Sofia, just remember, don't be afraid to lie." She nods and leaves the room. The rest of the morning I wander up on to the roof. Memories come flooding back to me, times with Peeta on the roof. If I am honest, I still have no idea what I feel for Peeta. However, I have become so used to the star-crossed lovers thing that it almost seems real. I sit on the grass, and pick at a clump of grass. After a while, Peeta comes to join me. "So...?" I question him. I am curious to know if Tomas is as winning as his sister.

"I was done in an hour. Not much to coach. First idea, he was perfect."

"What was your first idea? Acting caring or acting fierce?" I ask. I know he told me, but I wasn't listening.

"Fierce, and protective of his sister. You know, like, a 'hurt my little sister and you will regret it' kind of thing, to put off the other tributes as well."

That was a good idea. We sit in silence for 2 hours. I pick at grass, smell the flowers. I actually feel relaxed. Around 1, we go down to the dining hall.
