Lauren was having the dullest day of her life. She'd woken up, got dressed for school and her little brother spilled cereal all over her literature essay she'd spent two weeks working on.

Life couldn't get any worse.

Or so she thought.
Now, she has Death to contend with, just as she was going to get a nice coffee and a hot fresh do-nut.

There may be a sequel to this soon, so keep an eye out if you're interested! :)

8. Reaper asks How?

'I'M SORRY REAPER!' I shouted over the wind which whistled around me as though I was in a gale, the rain lashing against my skin like needles.

'Are you really?' His voice echoed angrily through the air, vibrating the bones in my body.

'DON'T YOU DARE SAY IT!' He yelled, stepping forwards angrily. He grabbed me by the shoulders and pulled my hair up so I was staring into his eyes.

'You have no idea how it's like to be disfigured in such a way, with your prefect face.' I shook my head.

'You're wrong.' I whispered, knowing he could hear me.

'Show me if you speak true.' He said, pushing me away from him. The wind and rain had quietened slightly, but Reapers eyes were still a crimson red.

Slowly, I peeled off the damp layers of clothing; my school jumper, then I half unbuttoned my white shit, pulling it up so he could clearly see the huge scar that stretched from the base of my hip up and around my back to my shoulder blade.

The weather instantly changed back to peaceful, and I quickly buttoned up my shirt again, shaking from the cold.

 'How?' He asked.

'When I was a kid, some guy decided to force entry into my house. My Dad was away at work, my older brother at school. My Mum was knocked out, and he didn't like the noise I was making. He grabbed a kitchen knife and... I screamed louder, so he made it deeper, and took longer. He liked my pain. Our neighbour called the police at my screams, and he ran off, leaving me bleeding on the floor, nearly unconscious with blood loss. I was lucky to survive.'

I saw his eyes flash red again, but he controlled his anger.

'Who?' He asked through gritted teeth.

'He's dead now. Don't worry Reaper.' I said, shivering.

'You're cold.' He said, and held out a long white dress. Suddenly, a bright warm light flooded the sky. He'd summoned the sun.

The Desert Sea sparkled under its light, and I warmed up immediately. I smiled and gave him a hug.

'Thanks Reaper.' I whispered.

'Get dressed. I'll be back soon.' He stroked my hair again, and disappeared.
