Give me love

"Give a little time to me, or burn this out. We'll play hide and seek, to turn this around. All I want, is the taste that your lips allow,"
Sometimes love can be found in the most unexpected places. Sometimes, you fall for the wrong people. Keigan Summers is a wallflower, who minds her own business along with her best, and only, friend, Harry Styles. Lyrics are her life, music is her escape.

Makenna Ross is your typical popular girl - dating the quarterback of the football team, Liam Payne, best friends with the rest of the team. She's got everything she ever wanted, except for one person.

What happens when the two worlds collide? It's always been said that love is blind - it sees no age or appearance. Can love pull through, this time, though?

Give Me Love

Chapter Five:

Keigan's POV

Someone is calling my name as I leave the school yard.

"Keigs, wait up!" It's Harry.

I stop walking. An out-of-breath Harry runs up beside me, placing a hand on my shoulder, attempting to catch his breath.

"What's up?" I ask him.

"," he pants. I gasp.

"You kissed Makenna at her locker after talking about prom king and queen, and Liam saw?" I say. He nods.

"Harry!" I shout. "Why would you do that?!"

"I don't know!" he exclaims. "I'd never been kissed before, I wanted to know what it felt like!"

"If you wanted a kiss so bad, you could have just asked me." I sigh, exasperatedly. He groans.

"I am never showing my face at school, ever again." he says.

"Wait, what did Liam do?" I ask.

"He was just shocked. He asked me to leave, and I left," he says. I furrow my eyebrows.

"Oh," I say. "Are they still together?"

"I think so," he replies. My heart sinks.

"Hey, Keigan!" my name is shouted again. This time, it's Liam.

"Hey," I breathe, smiling. When he sees Harry, he narrows his eyes a little. Harry coughs, awkwardly.

"I'll call you later, Keigs," he mumbles, running off.

"Are you two dating?" Liam asks me. I burst out laughing, but slap my hand over my mouth to stop myself. I blush.

"Uh, no, definitely not. We're just really good friends," I say. He nods.

"So, are we going to work on the song again tonight?" he asks, falling into step beside me.

"What about Makenna?" I ask.

"She's fine. I explained to her what happened last night, and I told her I was busy tonight,"

"Oh," I say. "Okay, then."

"Awesome," he says. We walk to Liam's house, but this time, someone is home.

"I'm home, mum," Liam calls out.

"In the kitchen!" A woman calls back. Slipping our shoes off, we walk over to the kitchen.

"Hi, Li," the woman says, embracing Liam in a hug. Then, she notices me. "Oh! Hello there!"

"Hi," I say, quietly.

"What's your name?" she asks me.

"Keigan," I reply.

"What a lovely name! You can call me Mrs. Payne, or Karen. Or Mrs. P, if you want. It's more hip."

Liam groans, smacking his hand against his forehead. "Mum!"

I laugh. "I like your mom,"

He smiles. "Mum, we're going upstairs to work on our project. Don't bug us."

"Alright, alright. Sheesh!" she catches my eye, and sends me a wink. I smile, before following Liam back up the stairs.

We sit down on the floor again, just like last night.

"So, how about we start the verses?" Liam suggests. I nod.

After throwing around lyric ideas for a while, we've come up with a few that we like.

"Wish I could freeze this moment in a frame and stay right here,"

"I hope I'm not a casualty, hope you won't get up and leave,"

"Or did I dream that we were perfectly entwined? Like branches on a tree or twigs caught on a vine,"

"I think these are some pretty good lyrics," he comments. I nod in agreement.

A few minutes later, Mrs. Payne calls up the stairs.

"Liam! Two of your friends are here!"

My heart beat starts to accelerate. Two more people? Two of Liam's friends? That means that they're popular.

Oh, god.

I hear footsteps pound on the stairs, and two boys enter the room.

The one has a tall, dark brown quiff, with blonde highlights in it. He has tanned skin, deep brown eyes, and is quite muscular.

Man, he's hot.

The second is nearly the complete opposite, with a blonde quiff, fair skin, and striking blue eyes.

He's adorable.

"Who's this?" the blonde one asks, gesturing towards me. His irish accent surprises me.

"This is Keigan," Liam says. "We're working on a project together. Well, we were, until you two rudely interuppted."

They roll their eyes.

The dark haired one steps forward.

"I'm Zayn," he tells me. Is that a Bradford accent I hear?

"And I'm Niall," the other says.

I manage a nod.

"Does she talk?" Zayn asks.

I roll my eyes. "Yes, I talk."

"Oh," is all he says.

"What do you guys want?" Liam asks.

"We were gonna see if you wanted to come grab a milkshake with the rest of the team, but it looks like you're a little busy," Niall explains.

"I'm sure Keigan can come with us!" Liam says. I look at him, glaring. "The team wouldn't mind."

"I guess not," Zayn shrugs. "She can come."

"Come on," Liam drags me out his bedroom door, leading Zayn and Niall.

"Liam!" I hiss "I don't want to!"

"Why not?"

"I..I'm sort of shy," I blush.

"I know that," he says. "Just stay with me, okay?"

I nod, taking a calming breath. "They probably won't even notice me."

"Why wouldn't they?" he asks as he slips on his shoes.

"No one notices me. You literally had to run into me to notice me," I point out.

"I thought you were new?" he says. I sigh.

"I've been at this school since freshman year."

"Oh," he says, surprised. "Sorry."

"It's okay. I'm used to it." I grab my jacket, and pull it on.

We walk behind Niall and Zayn, who are having their own loud conversation. I watch as Zayn pulls Niall in for a hug, placing a big kiss on his cheek.

"Are they gay?" I ask Liam, causing him to burst out laughing.

"No, that's just the normal for the team," he explains. "Want a run down of their names, just so you know?"

I nod.

"Alright, here goes," he says. "Niall, Zayn, Louis, Josh, Andy, Sandy, and a whole bunch more but I don't really talk to them. Oh, and there's Coach Paul. But he won't be here. And me, of course."

I try to let all the names sink in.

When we reach Milkshake City, I can tell the team is already here, as the restaurant is quite loud.

"Want anything?" Liam asks me. I shake my head.

"I didn't bring any money," I say.

"My treat," he tells me. I shake my head, once more.

"It's okay," I say.

"Alright, have a seat with the boys, I'll be right back."

He slips off to line, leaving me alone. Well, not exactly alone. I sit down beside Niall, who smiles at me, before returning to his conversation with his friends.

Thankfully, Liam comes back not soon after. He hands me a chocolate milkshake.

"I didn't want you to have nothing," he says. I smile, accepting the shake.

We talk for a bit, having our own conversation, until someone catches my eye.

"Liam, I'll be right back," I say, running over to the boy who is now sitting, sipping a milkshake alone.

"Harry!" I say. He turns to look up at me.

"Hey, Keigs," he smiles. I sit down across from him. "What are you doing here?"

"Liam's friends made me come," I reply. His eyes open wide.

"You're here with the football team?" he asks "That's so cool, Keigan!"

I shrug. "Liam is the only one who will talk to me."

As if on cue, Liam walks up beside us.

"Mind if I join you?" he asks. I shake my head, and he sits down beside me. Harry avoids eye contact.

"Hey, uh, Harry, right?" Liam says. Harry looks up, nodding. "We're cool, okay? I know you've never been kissed, and you just wanted to try it out-"

"How did you know that?"

"Makenna told me," Liam explains. "Anyways, you don't need to be scared of me."

Harry smiles, slightly.

"I see why you like him, Keigs," he says.

I smack Harry upside the head, hissing, "Harry!"

"Oh, sorry," Harry whispers.

"What?" Liam asks.

"Nothing," we both reply.

"Okay," Liam says. "So, Harry, up for Prom King, eh?"

"Uh, yeah," he mumbles.

"Good on you!" Liam smiles. "I'm going to the prom with Makenna, so I'm hoping she'll win queen! Who are you going with?"

I feel very left out of this conversation. I take a sip of my milkshake.

"Uh," he says "Keigan."

I spit my milkshake out all over Harry.

"Ew!" he says, while Liam laughs.

"Sorry!" I say, reaching over to wipe him up with some napkins.

"I thought you two weren't dating?" Liam says.

"Oh, we-" I begin to say.

"Are," Harry finishes for me. "Oh, we are."

"Cool!" Liam smiles.

"Hey, Li!" someone from the football team calls.

"I've got to go," Liam says. "Come back over once you're done." he tells me. I nod, as he walks away.

I turn to Harry.

"Why would you tell him we're dating?!" I exclaim, in a whisper. Harry rolls his eyes.

"Do you know anything about guys?" he asks.

"Uh, not really, no." I say.

"Guys want what they can't have! By being in a "relationship", Liam will get jealous, and start to like you!"

"Right," I say. "Like that will happen."

"I promise, it will."

"Whatever," I sigh. "So I guess that means I need to buy a dress for prom?"

"Yep!" he says, cheerfully. I smile.

"This better work," I say.

"Oh, it will."
