Anything can happen

Melanie never liked One Direction.

Liam never believed in love at first sight.

But Anything can happen in one night.

5. Stars

"Seriously, Lucy, does my hair ACTUALLY look alright?" Lucy smirked at me and nodded.

"You seem a little too into this, don't you Mel? Especially considering since it's a dare and you don't really need to put an effort in..."

"Erm, actually I put an effort in where I go," I replied as I flicked a bit of hair off my shoulder. I felt her staring at me.

"No, but seriously Mel, this is good. You actually fit- I can see a future."

I ignored her and picked my purse. I pulled the dress down a bit and smiled at the mirror. "Right, I'm off! Make dinner- that has chicken involved." She blew me a kiss and I grinned as I slammed the door behind me.

Speeding down the stairs and having opened the door, I looked up at the clear night sky. My favourite part of the day was always just gazing up at the stars in the middle of the street. To anyone else who may have been watching, it would have looked like a girl in a bright red coat with a large smile staring at the sky. The thought made me smile wider.

"You look beautiful."

I spun road and my mouth fell open. "Why do you always do that?"

"What?" Liam replied

"That.. that randomly popping out of the bushes without me knowing. We were meant to meet in the cafe!"

"Well, it's nice to see you too!" he responded with a small smile and then opened a car door. "Ladies first."

"Erm, I'm not getting in a car with a stranger... with my luck, I would be murdered before I said Cheetos."

"Cheetos?" he burst out laughing.

Taken aback by his sudden laughter, I stared at him. "That's not funny."

"I know, but you make me want to laugh."

"You know that's an insult right?"

"No, I just complimented you!" he said, in an almost I-don't-understand-women tone.

"Yeah, but you're suggesting that you are laughing at  me."

"Okay, be quiet and get into the car."

A small smile slipped and I saw his face brighten at it. I got into his car, which looked quite expensive but since I understood nothing about cars, it didn't really bother me. He quickly got in and said, "So what kind of music do you like?" whilst twiddling with the speakers.

"One direction," I replied immediately- with strong sarcasm- and his laugh boomed in the car.

His laugh sounded like the twinkling stars that were gazing down at us, and that made my heart bounce a little.

The engine whirred and he started driving. I knew he wasn't taking us to the Cafe but for the first time in my life, I went along with the ride.
