The Pre-life Afterlife

1. God of the Gaps

I wasn't even born when I slipped away from the Earth's grasp. Slowly, quietly, my brutal kicks subsided, and left in my place was nothing - a tiger with no stripes, a jar with no lid, a puzzle without a piece. Whichever way you envisage it, I'm the stripes, the lid, the puzzle piece - the small part, so tiny, yet it makes the world of difference. I am that seemingly unnoticeable part, which makes such a dent on the inside of those who would have known me, but that dent still refuses to be shown on the outside. Like when you're making orange and pineapple squash, I'm that one part juice which matters so much because without it you've just got  water.
