Twist In My Story

5. The Day Before The Big Move

October 5th

"Have you figured out where we are staying until we get a house?" I ask.

"No, not yet."

"I could call Niall," I say.

Jesse stiffens as I say his name and he looks at me.

"What?" I say.

"Why would you need to call Niall?" Jesse asks through clenched teeth.

"I was going to ask him if he knew of any places or if we could just stay with him," I say trying to keep my cool.

I feel like yelling at Jesse for acting like this, but I know that not blowing my top is the answer for the situation right now.

"No, it's okay. I can find a place online."

"No, Jesse. I am going to call Niall for recommendations. If he offers for us to stay with him though, I am going to take him up on it."

Jesse doesn't say anything and just packs for our flight tomorrow. I roll my eyes and walk out of the room with my phone. I dial Niall's number and wait for him to answer. One ring. Two rings. Three rings.

"Hey, Morgan!" Niall exclaims.

"What's going on?"

"Well, I was calling to tell you what's going on. Jesse and I are moving to London." I pause to wait for his reaction.

He is silent for a few seconds. "T-that's great! Awesome! When are you guys getting in London?"

"We are getting on a plane tomorrow morning. I have a question about what hotels to stay at there. What would you recommend?"

"You don't have to stay at a hotel. I have room for you and Jesse here if you want," Niall says quickly.

"That sounds great! Thank you so much."

We visit for a little bit and catch up. I haven't talked to him in a few weeks because he has been so busy. He talks about his busy schedule and gives me updates about the boys. It's nice to talk to him again.

"Well, I am going to go ahead and pack. I am trying to pack as much as I can tonight that way we have less to move when the time comes," I say.

"Alright, love. If you need me to, I can pick you up at the airport too."

"No, that's okay. We have already scheduled a taxi to pick us up. Thanks though."

"Okay. I'll text you my address."

"Okay, thanks again Niall! See you tomorrow!"

"Alright, bye."

I hang up and go back into mine and Jesse's room. Jesse is still packing and avoids looking at me. He needs to realize that Niall is just my friend. I don't get why he acts so funny about him. It annoys me.

"So, I got us a place to stay," I say.

"Let me guess, Niall's?" he asks.

"Yep and you need to stop being so weird about it. He's just a friend."

"I know, I'm just afraid it won't stay that way," he says quietly.

"Jesse, you are being possessive and I don't like it."

"Sorry, babe. I 'm just a little worried."

"Well, don't be."

I start packing my stuff and feel a little nostalgic as I do so. I am leaving a city I have lived in my whole life to go to a country and city I have never been in before. I'm going to miss Lubbock, TX a little bit just because family and most of my friends live here. Jesse seems like he has no feelings about leaving here. At the same time though, most of his friends have moved on from this place and have gone to do greater things in bigger cities. I just hope I'm making a good decision.
