59. With the Boys

I was sitting on my bed scrolling through tumblr when my phone started to go off, and for the first time in a week it was one of the boys.

“Hey Lou,” I said as I answered the phone and I moved my laptop off my lap.

“Hi Britt,” he replied softly and I smiled. “How have you been doing?”

“I’ve been worse, you?”

“Not bad, but I miss you.”

“I miss you too.”

“Do you want to come back to us yet? Or do you have any idea when you’ll want to come back?”

“Well, honestly,” I said, “I’m fine with coming back whenever.”

“Good,” Louis replied and then hung up. Then my bedroom door opened and Louis ran in, slamming it behind him and jumped into the bed next to me. “Miss you,” he said and then pulled me in for a kiss.

“Missed you too,” I said against his lips and after a minute or two I pushed him back. “You came to get me?”

“Of course! Why wouldn’t I?”

“How did you know that I would be ready to come back?”

“Well, I called Meghan and I asked her how you’ve been doing and she said that you kept saying that you missed me, and then I called your mum and she said the same thing. Then I flew out here and hoped that you wanted to come back.”

“Are the other boys with you?”

“Nope, just me.”

“Good,” I said and I wrapped my arms around his neck, “because I’ve really missed you.”

An hour and a half later, Louis and I were on the One Direction privet jet back to the States.

Ten hours after that, we were in Texas and Lou and I were walking into the tour bus where the rest of the boys were.

“Brittany!” Niall screamed and gave me a hug. “How’s my favorite little sister doing?”

“I’m fine,” I lied and Niall pushed me back to look me in the eye.

“Are you sure about that?” he questioned and I  nodded.

“I’m pretty sure,” I lied again and Niall seemed to fall for it.

“Stop being a Brittany hog!” Zayn yelled and pulled me from Niall and hugged me. Then Liam pulled me away from Zayn, then Harry pulled me from Liam, and then Louis pulled me from Harry.

“Back off my girlfriend,” he said seriously and glared at his band mates.

“Where’s Danny?” I asked and Harry ran up the steps and came back down holding the little baby, and when he saw me, he started making baby sounds.

“Someone’s missed you,” Harry said and passed Danny to me.

“Hi,” I said in my baby voice and bounced him. “Have the boys been taking good care of you? I really hope they have because if they haven’t, I might have to hurt them.”

“We’ve been taking care of him,” Liam informed me and I looked at him.

“Promise?”

“I promise.”

“Good, because I don’t want anything to happen to this sweet little thing,” I said as I ran my hands through Danny’s slightly curly hair.

“Dinners almost ready,” Liam announced and then there was the sound of a timer going off and he ran upstairs.

After dinner, I washed the dishes, with the help of Zayn, and then all of us laid on the couch’s and watched Djange Unchained.

When the credits started rolling, Niall said, “Well that was violent.”

“Really? What part?” Louis replied.

“Stop the sarcasm, Tomlinson,” I said to Louis and hit him on the sholder.

“I would, but it’s in my genes, so I can’t.”

“I swear to god if this child turns out to be a sarcastic little shit like you, I will go crazy.”

“You’re probably going to go crazy,” Harry said and I chuckled.

“I probably will.”

“Who votes we go to bed? We have to get up early tomorrow for interviews and then a signing,” Liam said and all of us nodded.

As all of us started walking towards the stairs, someone grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to the couch.

“Britt?” Louis said and turned around.

“I just want to talk to her for a sec,” Harry told Lou.

“Okay,” Louis replied and jogged down the stairs.

I turned to face the curly haired boy. “Yes?”

“What’s wrong?”

“What do you mean?” I asked innocently.

“Brittany, I know you. I probably know you better than the others do, so I know that something is wrong.”

“I’m fine,” I lied, and Harry knew I lied.

“I’m not an idiot. Is it what happened a week ago? I get that it’s hard for you. I really do, and you know that you can come and talk to me about anything, right?” I nodded. “I know that you don’t like bothering other people with your problems, especially Louis, but when we had out little thing going on, you would talk to me about things that had been bothering you, and I really didn’t mind. I actually enjoyed listening to you talk about things, it made me feel like you trusted me.” When Harry was done with his speech, he said, “Are you crying?”

I chuckled and nodded. “Yeah, that was sweet and I’m tired and hormonal.”

“Awww, you think I’m sweet,” Harry said and leaned forward and gave me a hug.

“Of course I think you’re sweet. You’re a little, well tall, curly ball of sweetness.”

“Okay, now let’s go and take you downstairs to bed, alright?”

“Okay,” I said and I unwrapped my arms from Harry. He stood up and then offered me his hand, which I took, and then he pulled me into a standing position and we walked downstairs.

“You go have fun with your interview,” I said and gave Louis a quick kiss.

“I’ll try,” he replied before jogging off to where he was doing a one on one interview.

Since all the boys were doing single interviews, I walked over to where Paul was leaning up against a wall with Danny in a stroller by him.

“’Sup,” I said and I gave him a head nod, which he returned. Then I picked Danny up from his stroller and leaned against the wall.

“Sup,” he replied.

“It’s a lot warmer here than it is back home.”

“I know. How was seeing your mum and everyone?”

“It was a lot of fun. I really missed them.”

“How’s Meghan been doing?”

“She’s fine, just missing her boy-toy is all.”

“Yeah, I’m thinking she would be. And I’ve told her to give me a call any time she wants to come and see Liam. Even if it’s only for a few hours.”

“She knows she can do that, it’s just that she’s at University an-.” I was cut off by someone yelling my name.

“Britt! Brittany!”

“I think your boy-toy wants you,” Paul said and I chuckled, handed the baby to him and walked across that large room to Louis.

“Yes?” I said and Louis scooted over on the couch.

“Would you like to join me?” he asked and wiggled his eyebrows.

“Do I have much of a choice?”

“Nope,” he said and I sat down and he through his arm around me and turned to face the male interviewer. “As I was saying, I do have a girlfriend, but I hope she won’t be my girlfriend for much longer.”

The interview gave him a weird look and I added to what Louis was saying to make things more clear. “He wants me to marry him, but I’ve told him, ‘no,’ six times already.”

“Why would you say no?” the man asked in a Texas accent.

“Well, I’m just waiting until he asks me the perfect way, but what he doesn’t understand is that the perfect way doesn’t have to be dazzling, jaw-dropping or expensive, it just has to be thoughtful and caring, and, well, perfect.”

“Okay,” Louis said and nodded his head and stroked his chin in thought. “Not dazzling, jaw-dropping or expensive. Hmmmmmm.”

“Okay, well, I’m going to let you get back to your interview,” I said and I started to stand up, which was becoming a pain, but Louis pulled me back down.

“No, you’re going to stay.”

“You’re not going to let me go, are you?”

“Not at all, now next question?” Louis asked the interviewer.

“Okay, ummm,” he mumbled as he flipped through the cards he was holding. “Do you have any names picked out for the babies?”

“Baby,” I said quickly and stiffened.

“What?” the man asked.

“I’m having a little girl,” I stated.

“I thought it was twins?”

“Nope,” I said and shook my head. “Just one little baby girl.”

“And, no,” Louis jumped in, “We haven’t even discussed names yet.”

“Okay, well, can either of you do a Texas accent?”

Louis started laughing. “I’m pathetic at accents. It’s quite hilarious how bad I am at them.”

“He’s not lying,” I added.

“You’re pretty good at them, aren’t you?” Louis asked and I shrugged and then started taking in a semi-acceptable stereotypical Texas accent.

I mean, I’m not that bad at them, but I’m also not the best. I never lived in Texas. I’m a hardcore Nebraskan, born and raised for most of my life. I haven’t been to Texas, in what, golly gee, I’m thinking it’s been about ten years since I’ve been here. Then again, I did move to the U.K. when I was either in my eighth or ninth year. I’m now going to stop talking in this accent because I feel like I sound like an idiot since I can’t talk in any accent besides a normal American one.”

The interviewer gave and a small applause. “Not bad,” he said. “Not bad at all.”

“Thank you, but really Louis, I’m going to let you continue with your interview. Bye,” I said and gave him a quick kiss and then I pushed myself off the couch, with the help of Louis, and I walked back over to where Paul was standing.

“Not bad,” Paul noted as I took Danny back from him. “And that was a great way to let people know that you’re having a girl. You’re going to need to start doing that.”

“Was that sarcastic?” I asked and Paul shook his head.

“Not at all. If you hear anyone say something about twins, correct them immediately and eventually people will catch on and quit saying it.”

“So, you’re not going to announce that I had a miscarriage or anything, right?” I asked and he shook his head again.

“Not unless you want me to.”

“I don’t,” I stated and Paul nodded.

“I understand completely. My wife and I went through the same thing a few years ago.”

“Really?” I asked in shock.

“Yeah, but I didn’t really tell the lads. They don’t need anything else on the minds.”

I went and gave Paul a hug, and Danny was squished in between us, but the baby didn’t seem to mind that much . “It’s okay.”

“I know, she was only a few weeks along, but now were trying for another.”

I pushed back from the hug. “TMI, Paul. TMI.”
