45. Going Home

It has now been 3 ½ month since Brittany left (and its almost the end of November/beginning of December)

Knock Knock knock

“I’ll get it,” Jess yelled and walked over to the door. I was walking down the steps when I heard her shout, “Louis Tomlinson!”

I stopped dead.

“Yeah, hi, um, does Brittany Tom live here?” Lou asked.

“Yes, she does, but she isn’t home right now,” Jess lied.

“Do you know where she is?”

“I believe she’s at the store.”

“Do you know when she’ll get back?”

“I’m sorry, I don’t.”

“Ummm, okay. Is it fine if I just wait outside for her?"

“Of course,” she said.

“Thanks,” Louis replied, and I heard the front door shut.

I ran up the stairs to my room and slammed the door shut. I went to my bed, and fell on it crying.

“Knock knock?” Phil said and he, Jess and Derek walked into my room.

“Are you okay?” Phil asked and I shook my head.

“Are you going to go out and talk to him?” Derek asked, and I shook my head again.

“Are you sure? He looked really sad and worried.”

“How can I?” I cried and sat up.

“I’m sure he’ll understand,” Phil told me.

“No, he won’t. I’m pregnant with what is hopfully his child and have yet to tell him. He is going to hate me for not telling him.”

“How about you just go to the door and talk to him? You don’t have to open it, and he doesn’t have to see you,” Derek suggested and I nodded.

“Or you can go to the window.”

“Okay,” I said and slowly made my way to the guest room across from mine. When I opened the window a gust of cold air hit me. "Louis?" I yelled.

“Brittany? Is that you?” Louis asked and jogged over from the front door. He was wearing a heavy jakcet, and I didn't blame him, it was freazing out.

“Umm, yeah, it is.”

“I missed you,” he said and I didn’t respond. “How are you?”

“Terrible,” I replied and I felt tears in my eyes.

“Is everything okay?”

“No Louis, nothing is okay!” I yelled angrily.

“What’s wrong?”

“Everything!”

“Just tell me what’s wrong!” When I didn’t answer, he added, “Please, just let me help you!”

“There’s nothing you can do Louis!”

“Let me help you!”

Tears were flowing down my face. There was nothing that he could do to help me.

Everything was wrong, and nothing could be fixed.

“There’s nothing you can do!” I yelled again. I saw a cop car pull to a stop in front of the house, and two cops got out.

“Ma’am, is everything okay?” One of them asked and I nodded.

“Is this man bothering you?” the other questioned.

“A little,” I replied. “I don’t even know what he’s doing here.”

“Sir, why are you here?” a cop asked Louis.

He took a deep breath before answering. “To apologies.” After a moment he added, “Do you hear that Brittany? I’m sorry for what I did to you. I really am. I wish I could take back everything from that night so things could be back to the way they were. Will you please just come back? I miss you.”

“I don’t care!” I shouted back.

“What did you do to her?” One of the cops asked him, and I was afraid of his answer.

“Ummmmm, well, for starters, she’s best mates step sister, and is practically family, and I took her to a club, go her drunk, and then slept with her.”

“Why don’t you just tell the world,” I yelled.

“I could, but I don’t know how I could nicely say it in one hundred and forty characters or less,” he replied sarcastically.

“Go fuck yourself!” I screamed.

“You don’t want Danny learning swear words, now do you?” he asked. “You do have Danny, don’t you? You didn’t lose him, did you?” he angrily.

“No, I didn’t. The only person who would have lost him, would have been you!” At this rate, it wasn’t my fault that I was angry. I was pregnant, hormonal and very mood and it didn’t help that I had someone yelling at me.

“Who’s Danny?” an officer asked.

“My friends kid that she took,” Lou told them.

“So this is an argument over custody?”

“She’s not even the mum,” he said and wildly gestured towards me.

“She kidnapped him?”

“No, not really,” he replied.

“How did you even know where I was?” I asked.

“We checked your credit card history,” he answered. “We would have been here sooner, but you just had to go to America, didn’t you?”

“Yep.”

“If it makes you feel any better, Paul is relived that I’m finally talking to you since we’ve been harassing him for the longest time.”

“Why?” At this point, the cops had gotten bored and walked away since there wasn’t a real problem.

“We’ve known where you’ve been for over three months, but since we wouldn’t have been able to fly over the ocean or across America and get back in time for the next concert, we weren’t able to see you.”

“Where’s everyone else?” I asked.

“There in the bus outside of the concert hall. We had a big argument over who gets to talk to you, and I won.”

“Well, I’m not going to say anything else until you’re gone and someone else is here,” I said sternly.

“Who do you want?” he asked, and I didn’t respond. “Liam?” I said nothing. “Zayn?” Silence. “Niall?” I took my shoe off and threw it at him. “Is that a yes?” I threw my other shoe at him. “I’m going to get Niall, and send him over. I won’t come with him.” I still said nothing, and he started to walk away.

When Louis got to the car waiting for him, he turned back around, and went to where he was again. This time when he talked, he used a softer voice.

“We noticed that you went someplace weird a few days ago. You paid with your credit card.” I didn’t say anything. “Britt, please, just say something. You know what place I’m talking about.”

“Just go get Niall,” I said so quietly that I wasn’t sure if he heard me or not.

“Brittany, please, I don’t want to have to say this out in the open. I’m not sure who’s listening.” When I didn’t respond, he said the one thing that I knew he would eventually ask. “Are you pregnant?”

“Just go get Niall,” I said sternly.

“Is it mine?” he questioned slowly.

After a couple of moments I said, “Go to the door,” and I closed the window. I walked down the stairs, and stopped with my hand on the doorknob.

Someone walked up behind me and put a blanket on my shoulders and then his arms around my waist. “Go and talk to him,” Derek whispered.

“I don’t know what to say,” I replied.

“Just say anything. It’ll be okay. I promise.” I nodded and he gave me a kiss on the cheek and went and joined Phil, Jess and Danny on the couch.

After another moment of thought, I opened the door.

Louis was sitting on the ground by the door with his head on his hands. He didn’t look up when went and sat by him.

He put his arm around my shoulder and I leaned into his chest. I let the tears silently fall from my eyes.

“I’m so sorry,” he whispered.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked and pulled me closer to him.

“There wasn’t anything that you could have done.”

After a few moments, he asked, “Is it mine?”

I didn’t want to answer that question. None of the boys knew what happened when I got here, and I didn’t want to tell him.

“Unless I had sex with someone else at the club it is,” I told him and we both chuckled.

“I know for a fact that you didn’t. I stuck by you that whole night.”

“I love you Louis,” I told him.

“I love you too Brittany,” he replied and kissed me on the top of my head.

“Well, you’re going to have a kid now,” I joked.

“Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?”

“No, I wanted to find out with you, but I never had the guts to call you.”

“Britt, you should never be afraid to tell me anything.”

“I know, it’s just, I didn’t know what to say to you.”

“Well, at least I know now,” he said and I heard the smile that was in his voice.

“Do the other guys know?”

“Yeah.”

“Will you still accept me back?”

“Britt, you could have went on a murder spree and asked us to hide you and we would have. We would have lied to the cops about your whereabouts and gone to jail for the rest of our lives if we had to.”

“So, is that a yes?” I asked.

“That’s a yes.”

“Wanna help me pack?”

“Sure,” he said and stood up. He offered me his hands and pulled me up.

When we walked inside, Jess, Derek and Phil were sitting in the living watching the telly and Danny was crawling around the floor. The smile that was on Louis’s face grew at the sight of the child. I stopped Louis from running over and picking up the baby.

“Danny,” I said, “This is of the boys who I’ve been telling you about. This is Louis.” Danny excitedly crawled over to Lou. When Danny got to him, he grabbed onto Louis’s pant leg and pulled himself into a standing position.

Lou went and picked him up and held him in his arms. “You’ve gotten so big,” he said with a smile.

"(Baby sounds that started with and ‘L’ sound as if Danny was trying to say Louis name),” Danny replied and gave a toothy smile of him own.

“Come on,” I said, “Let’s go pack.”

Lou put Danny down and followed me back upstairs.

“He’s adorable,” he said as we got into my room.

“Harry makes cute babies,” I replied.

“Well, with both of our looks, your personality, and my singing ability, this baby is going to be the most epic baby ever,” Louis said with a cheek smile as he took a step closer.

“It just might be,” I replied and Louis tilted his head and brought face closer to mine. My heart beat got a little faster, and I’m not sure if the babies liked that or not.

I turned my head, and Louis looked at me weirdly. “Give me your hand,” I said to Louis, and he did. I took it and put it on my stomach.

“Oh my god,” he gasped after a moment.

“I think the babies like you,” I told him.

“Wait,” Louis said and his eyes widened, “Did you just say babies? Like, baby in the plural form?”

“Yep,” I replied and he smiled.

“Well, this is going to be fun.”

“It sure is,” I told him and he went to kiss me again. I turned my head so he kissed my cheek.

“Is there still something going on with you and that Derek guy?” he asked and I nodded. “Is that the reason that you don’t want to kiss me?”

“That, and you got me pregnant,” I replied simply.

“And that a reason because…?”

“I don’t like you,” I told him. “Not in that way at least.” I saw Louis frown, and I felt bad for lying.

“Really?”

“Yeah, and I don’t want to be with someone just because I’m going to have their baby.”

“But-,” Louis started and I cut him off.

“No buts, now help me pack.”

An hour later, we were done packing and I was in the car on my way to the tour bus. It was sad telling Derek and Phil good bye, but they seemed happy that, well, I was happier.

Derek was okay with everything, and I told him that a girl will be very lucky to have him one day.
It was a mutual decision to end our relationship, and Derek didn’t look to surprised over what happened.

Before I left he told me that he knew I had feelings for Louis and that he was a really lucky guy since he gets to spend the rest of his life with me.

That confused me slightly, but I just nodded like I understood and gave him a hug goodbye.

When we finally got to the tour bus, I was scared to walk in.

“Come on Britt. They’re excited to see you,” Louis said with Danny in his arms. I nodded, and went and opened the door.

“Brittany!” everyone screamed. They all jumped off the couch and ran and hugged me.

“I missed you,” Niall said and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“Never leave us again!” Harry yelled.

“I forgot how much work they were to take care of,” Liam informed me.

“We barely survived without you,” Zayn added.

“Okay, okay. Everyone back off of the preggers chick,” Louis announced as he walked in with Danny. The boys let me go, and Lou put Danny on the ground.

“Do you remember this place?” I asked the baby and he nodded. “Do you know who these people are?” I asked and he shook his head. “Okay, so this is Liam, Zayn, Niall and your daddy. Do you got that?” He nodded.

“Who am I?” Niall asked.

“(Baby sound that starts with a ‘N’ sound)”

“And me?”

“(Baby sound that starts with a ‘Z’ sound)”

“Me?”

“(Baby sound that starts with a ‘L’ sound)”

“How about me?” Harry asked.

“(Baby sound that starts with a ‘D’ sound)”

“Danny you’re so smart,” I said and he smiled.

“But do you know her name?” Niall asked and pointed at me.

“(Baby sound that starts with a ‘B’ sound)”

“You really are smart,” Harry told Danny and went and picked him up.

“Idea,” Niall gasped and Louis glared at him for using his saying. “Britt, Lou, why don’t you two go shopping or something, and we’ll watch Danny.”

“You okay with that?” Louis asked and I nodded.

“I love that kid to death, but he’s always with me.”

“Then let’s go,” Louis said with a smile and he started towards the door.

“Okay, but there’s something’s that you need to know before I leave you with him. Give Danny lunch at one, put him down for a nap at two, at four give him a snack, and at six thirty give him dinner if we’re not home. He has food, toys and diapers in the diaper bag. Do not swear around him, if he’s standing stay by him, don’t let him crawl up the stairs unless you’re right behind him the whole time, don’t let him near any sharp objects,” Louis took my hand and started pulling me towards the door, “or table corners. If I come back here and he’s hurt in any way, I will kill you,” I said and the bus door shut.

“I’m pretty sure that he’ll be fine,” Lou told me, and then there was the sounded of a crash coming from inside the bus.

“Everything okay!” Niall yelled, and Louis kept pulling me towards the car.

“He’s going to get hurt,” I said, but Lou ignored me and made me get into the car.

“Relax,” he told. “Nothing bad is going to happen. And if something does, I won’t stop you from hurting them.” At that, I smiled.  “Now where do you want to go?”

“I don’t care.”

“Okay, Don, will you take us to the nearest mall?”

“Of course,” the driver/body guard said.

“What do we need at the mall?” I asked.

“Well, when we were packing up your room, I noticed that you didn’t have a lot of maternity clothes.

That’s going to change.”

“You’re amazing.”

“I know.”
