white noise chocolate

We all have our problems and with ours we need each other in order to solve them. We need to help each other, we need to understand each other. We need to love each other, make each other feel one another. Another. Other. Kiss me Niall, please, because there won't be another. Love me Niall, please, because I need to feel your touch before I go.

5. Stay

Ireland's POV

I entered my apartment like I did every morning, right after I go biking and after I go to the local sweet store and buy cuts of the dark chocolate.

When I did enter, the candle jars were empty of wax--or just nearly, and the Niall guy was laying on my couch again. I thought we accomplished this the other day, he was to leave.

I don't understand, though, why he just keeps appearing and telling me he pays for this place. I pay the bills, well my dad does and everything still seems to be working. I just want him to leave, get out of my home away from home.

I walk closer into the living room and nudge Niall on his shoulder. His head falls, still asleep.

"Niall," I said, shaking him. "Niall!" I say louder and he stirs. "Get out."

"Hmm?" He squinted his eyes and smiled. "Mm, you smell like chocolate. I like when my hallucinations smell good."

"What the fuck are you talking about?"

"You know," He readjusted himself on the couch, and then looked up at me again. "LSD provide the most wonderful hallucinations, but you are the first human-looking one. Usually I'm surrounded by falling diamonds if it's snowing or a sun made out of an orange."

"You're high?" I almost screamed.

"What?" He chucked, "Of course not."

"You just said you took LSD?"

"I did?" His eyebrows raising. "Oh no, that's just a comparison."

"I'm sure," I was getting angry. "Get up."

"What? But why would I leave this marshmallow I'm sitting on?"

"Ugh, it's a not a marshmallow it's my white couch imported from Spain. I don't like when your pretty little ass is sitting on it."

"Pretty. Little. Ass," he chuckled. "I like you."

"Yea well right now I don't like you."

"You're cute when you're mad," he muttered looking up at me.

"I'm always mad."

"Then you're always cute."

"Ugh--."

"If only you weren't in a coma," he let his head fall back as he laughed. "I would love to see you naked."

I ignored his provocative words and went back to previous words, "Coma? What are you talking about?"

"Oh that's right," he put his hands behind his head. "You're a ghost, I don't get it though, cos your perfect little body is laying in the hospital."

"Niall," I placed my hand on his shoulder, my fingertips just skimming his skin along his collarbone.

He looked up, his blue eyes like an ocean. "I don't get how you can touch me."

I bite my bottom lip and he brought his hand up to my cheek. My eyes widened slightly but he soon pulled away. "Niall, what's going on?"

He exhaled, "I have no fucking idea."

"Will you help me?"

"Possibly, but right now I'm not much of a help. Your ceiling fan looks like a propeller, your eyes look like ice ponds and it's currently raining bullets which means we are under attack in the Birmingham area. I repeat we are under attack!"

"What?" I looked out the open window and saw rain hitting the concrete. "It's water. Wait--is this what you see when you under the influence."

"Oh and much more, you should see what a jar of mayonnaise and pubic hair looks like."

"Alright," I said slowly. "Gross. Can you possibly come with me?" I was trying to get him to a bed, hide him under the covers so he would quit trying to be a soldier in the military.

"Ugh, no," he said. "We need to stop moving, before they discover our hiding place."

I crossed my arms and looked at him with concern. "Does this always happen when you're on LSD?"

"What? This is no drug effect," he was loosing it. The more I talked to him the worse it got, and I was starting to believe he was making fun.

"Niall this isn't funny."

He looked at me with wide eyes, almost like what I said was bizarre. "I'm not laughing."

"Okay, so where are we?"

"Birmingham."

"Good now what year?"

"1940."

"What? Oh fuck, you need to get off this high."

"What high, why do you keep blubbering about drugs?"

Blubbering? "Niall, there's no war. We aren't under attack." I made myself feel brave and brought my hands down on his shoulders. "Calm down," I said making full contact with his eyes.

I took one step further and was soon straddling his hips. "Why are you so addictive?" He asked up at me.

"Why do you get addicted to everything so quickly?"

"The reaction, the side effects the smell."

"What am I?"

"Everything," he breathed. "I love the reaction of you appearing before me, the side effects of you leaving and the smell of you. Damn the fucking chocolate," he placed his hands on my waist; it was like an electric current. "Do you taste as good as you smell?" He hummed his last sentence.

I couldn't speak, I wasn't sure what to say. I've never been so attracted to one person, he was also like a drug.

"Can I kiss you?" I whispered.

I wasn't sure if it was the drug or actually him speaking, but I nodded. His hand came up around my neck and pulled me forward. I could feel his hot breath tickling my lips. His presence was so close, so addicting, so--.

"Niall!" Someone was banging on the other side of the door. "Niall open up you fucking bastard!"

My head quickly turned towards the door, but Niall kept looking up at me. The knocking was persistent, and I tried to get up, but he kept me press down towards him.

"They'll break down the door," I said.

"Let 'em."

I licked my lips, anger and annoyance pulsing through me. "Niall--."

But the door already opened, a guy maybe about Niall's age came in. His close-shaven hair was brown and his lips were pursed together. I've never seen someone with such gentle features look terrifying.

"Hello Liam," said Niall.

"I'm going to fucking kill you," he warned as he walked over to the couch. He stopped behind me and then in the briefest time his hands went through me and collided with Niall's shirt. My eyes widened, Niall looked up at me.

"What's wrong with me?" I ask close to tears.

"Liam stop!" He yells, pulling Liam away from him. He stumbled back and Niall placed his hands on my face. "I'll explain to you, alright? Just go to your room while I handle this."

I nodded almost automatically as I got up from the couch and walked to my bedroom, looking back at Niall as his eyes were glued to me. He nodded and I closed the door, my body sliding down the hard darken wood.

Niall's POV

"How many drugs are you on?" Liam asked me, his temper still high but wavering.

"I'm not on drugs," I lied.

"Stop lying." Fuck. "Let me take a wild guess, LSD? Am I correct?"

"Yes," I muttered. "I'm not seeing hallucinations."

"Oh, okay," he started to circle me. "So you just talk to the wind now?"

"What? No. Her name is Ireland."

"Okay, so you have an imaginary friend."

"She's not imaginary."

"Alright, Niall, whatever you say, but you want to know how my time is?"

I rolled me eyes, "No."

"Well I'll tell you anyway," he showed a face of fake enthusiasm. "So I wake up this morning and first I'm greeted by Danielle who for some reason begs for my forgiveness. I tell her to go away and not even an hour later another knock, almost exactly the same way I knocked on your lovely new door. So I answer it and what do I get the most terrible blow to my stomach. When I ask who the motherfucker was he told he was Anthony and that he has some unpaid credits."

I swallowed. "I never gave him your address."

"He's  fucking drug dealer, Niall. He figures out where you live, he doesn't have to ask for your permission."

"Liam I didn't realize. I'll pay him and he'll never bother you again."

"It's alright," he said waving his hand in front of me. "I already paid him, for your stupid decision, but I have one lovely request."

"Which is?" I stood up, standing my ground.

"I'm going to put you through the same fucking pain your drug dealer did to me."

I bit my bottom lip, "Fine."

A slight smile touched Liam's face as he brought his hand, folding it into a fist and bringing it forward into my stomach. I doubled over in pain, my knees hitting the floor.

"If you ever even look at a drug dealer," he crouched down in front of me. "I'll kill you." Then another hard blow to my face as I hit the floor. "I don't like hurting you, Niall," I heard the door opening as he continued, "but I'm just trying to help you."

The door closed, and I stayed on the floor for a couple minutes before getting up. I stumbled over to Ireland's door and when I entered her bedroom she was on her bed. The duvet pulled tightly to her chest as I saw the tears running down her face.

I was still seeing things, but I blinked it all away as I came closer. I sat on the edge of the bed and exhaled.

"I'm sorry," I started.

"Please, Niall, don't ever let him come back," she muttered.

"I promise."

"Can you stay?"

I looked towards her, "What do you mean?"

"I want you to stay. I feel safe around you."

I reached for her hand and I successfully folded her hand in mine. "I'm not going anywhere."
