Hey there Delilah

Laurel and Aaron are travelling up to Yorkshire to visit his parents, little does Laurel know that he's planning to leave with her as his fiance. But what if something gets in the way? Something that means only one of them would come home.

2. Our song

We’re driving down to stay with my parents for Christmas, Laurel had never been to Yorkshire before so she was excited to be honest I never really saw the appeal of it myself but I think it’s because she’s a city girl and deep down quite fancies herself as a farmer’s wife. That was the purpose of the trip really not to make her a farmer’s wife but… mine, Mum and Dad were in on the whole thing they’d helped me plan it for months and months. Our song came on the radio “Hey there Delilah” and she looked at me with those angel blue eyes, glinting in the sun and begins to sing along-

“Hey there Delilah, what’s it like in New York city

I’m a thousand miles away but girl tonight you look

So pretty, yes you do-“

This was my cue; I joined in with this perfect creature that I had the pleasure to call my girlfriend and hopefully one day my Wife.

“Time square don’t shine as bright as you

I swear it‘s true

Hey there Delilah

Don’t you worry ‘bout the distance

I’m right there if you get lonely

Give this song another listen

Close your eyes…”

She closed them as part of tradition, showing off her incredibly long and thick lashes.

“Listen to my voice it’s my disguise…”

I leant over, various parts of the car sticking into my body and gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead. She was mine and both of us knew it.
