A woman finds herself in a dark room, and begins to uncover deeply buried memories.

Short story. Based on the poem 'confession' by janice windle. I orginally wrote this for an english essay.

6. Painful memories

The image faltered.

She was beginning to understand it all. Butterflies flew over her stomach, and the image of the man she loved was all she saw. She could remember every detail of him now.

The shape of his face, the colour of his eyes, the smell of his skin, the texture of his hair… Tears welled up in her eyes. Wet, salty emotion poured down her face and splashed over her dull, stiff clothing. Why was she crying?

She was in love, so why did it feel like she had been kicked in the stomach?
