4. Caput Draconis

The creepy thing was that while I was running around the castle looking for my dormitory, I found out that the paintings and portraits would talk. Eventually, I gave up finding the dormitory and asked a friendly looking painting.

"Excuse me, Miss. But could you please tell me where the Gryffindor Common Room is? I'm a little lost, you see."
I said and the woman looked at me.

"Ah, I'm figuring you must be a first year. Go straight and turn right, there, you'll see a flight of stairs that go up. You'll come to a stop in front of the Fat Lady. She's a good friend of mine."
The woman smiled, and I thanked her. Running off, taking her directions. I came to a stop in front of a portrait of a Fat Lady and all she said was, 'Password'.

I didn't know the password because the prefect never told me.

"I don't know the password. The prefect never told me anything about a password!"
I said, starting to panic. She suddenly disappeared and left me standing there for a few minutes before the door opened and out walked Hermione in her pajamas.

"There you are! I was getting worried that you might have lost your way! Come on in then. The Common Room is massive!"
Hermione said, pulling me inside.

"What was the password?"
I asked

"Caput Draconis."
Hermione muttered before reminding myself never to forget it. My jaw dropped when I saw the Common Room. It was huge! There was a fire place and soft-looking furniture. A book shelf was placed in the corner with various books and the Gryffindor crest was hung above the fire place.

"Go on upstairs and get changed then. It's already quite late. You're lucky. You get a dorm to yourself. Not many people get the privilege of privacy. Your things are all in your room."
Hermione added, pointing to another flight of stairs which probably indicated where I should go.

"Alright. I'll see you in the morning then."
I said, running up the stairs and looking for my name on a door. It was at the end of the hallway just like my room at the orphanage. I pushed it open to see a fire place and a four poster bed. My personal items were already all set out on the tables. I pulled open my bag from earlier and pulled out some comfortable pajamas and took a quick shower in the bathroom that was attached to my dorm.

It was cold and I was glad that there was a fire to keep me warm. There was a fairly large cage at the corner of my room which I knew was for Snowball. I wondered if Professor Dumbledore had something to do with this. I placed Snowball in there and he seemed happy with his new home. I climbed into my bed and saw the crescent looking moon from my window. Closing my eyes, I soon fell into a dreamless sleep.
