2. The new Duchess of Dorset

The vows have been said, the music has been played.

I am the official new Duchess of Dorset.

William and I walk past the grounds from the ballroom to the main palace, while mother, father, Evelyn and Marie return home in a carriage. We enter the palace and William leads me through the great hallway to our bedroom, all the while holding my hand. I stare, mesmerized at the golden paintings and the many chandeliers hanging down from the ceiling. He opens the door of the master bedroom and holds the door open to lead me in. I smile shyly and follow through after him. The door shuts with a loud 'bang' and the sound echoes a long way, right back down the hallway.

I spin back round from the door and my eyes travel around my new bedroom. So grand. So large. And so beautiful. The walls of the bedroom are covered in paintings once again, and gold is everywhere. The headboard of the bed is lined neatly with a spiral twist of gold, the table is neatly cornered with traces of gold, and of course, there are another few golden chandeliers hanging down from the ceiling, gloriously catching the light from the window directly opposite, and the shadows of sunshine dance around the room. I look in awe around the room and a small giggle escapes from my parted lips.

"What is it that you find so funny, may I ask? Duchess of Dorset?" William asks, holding his hands behind his back, smiling broadly at me.

"I have just never seen a room like this my entire life. I have never imagined seeing one, I used to dream when I was a little girl, to one day see something as marvellous as this. And now, my dreams have come true." I explain, still smiling.

"Marrying a Duke certainly has its advantages. I hope to fulfil many more of your dreams." he says softly, tracing my lower lip with his thumb. I freeze, not knowing what will happen next. He steps forward and quickly plants a soft kiss on my lips. He pulled away, and I look up at him, shocked.

"Come, a tour of the palace." he decides, and offers his outstretched hand once again, I take it, an he leads me out of the door and down the vast and grand hallway for the second time of many more to come.
