Gotta Be You

What happens after Jules and Harry get engaged? And what happens when Jules introduces her best friend, Carmen, to Niall? Will he break up with Demi for her or will they keep pretending that they weren't attracted to each other since the moment they met?

*Author Note:* Hey guys! So, this is the sequel to Operation Haylor, which you can find on my profile if you haven't read it. Unfortunately, Josh, the awesome guy who co-wrote Operation Haylor with me, isn't going to be writing any of Gotta Be You (unless he wants to do a bonus chapter or something, which has been discussed, so look out for it possibly).

3. Chapter 3

“Harry!” I exclaimed, jumping up and throwing my arms around his neck. He put his hands on my hips and kissed me. “What are you doing here?” I asked him.

“Niall and I decided to drop by before we head out with the other lads,” he told me.

I turned to look over my shoulder at Carmen's reaction to this, but all I saw was my bathroom door being slammed shut. My head snapped forward again as Niall entered my room and closed the door.

“What's the rush man?” Niall asked. “She's not going anywhere,” he said.

“Aw, you rushed up to me?” I asked Harry, gently grabbing the back of his curls.

“He slammed the car door and ran up to your room,” Niall told me, sitting down on my bed.

“Aw!” I heard Carmen's muffled voice from the bathroom.

“Is that Carmen in your bathroom?” Niall asked.

“Oh. You remember her?” I asked him, peering at him from behind Harry.

“Yeah. 'Course I do,” he said.

I looked back up into Harry's eyes. “Carmen,” I called. “Why are you in the bathroom?”

“It was supposed to be a surprise!” she called.

“What was supposed to be a surprise?” Niall called, standing up. I knew she was talking about her hair. I heard Carmen lock the bathroom door as he walked up to it and knocked softly.

“The girls are going to see tonight!” I pointed out.

“I know that,” she said.

“Come on, it's just me and Harry,” Niall said to the door.

“No,” Carmen told him.

“So what are you and the boys doing tonight?” I asked Harry as Niall continued to plead with Carmen.

“We're just going out to the pub,” he told me.

“Harry if you feel as though you have to drink before you marry me-” I started, teasing him.

He quickly cut me off with a kiss. “You know that's not true, love,” he said. “I'll probably only have a taste. It's what the boys wanted to do,” he told me.

“And there'll be no strippers, right?” I asked him.

“'Course not,” he told me, kissing my nose.

“Why do you even care?” Carmen called.

“I...” Niall started. He hesitated, thinking for a moment, before pressing his face back up against the door. “I want you to feel comfortable,” he said. “I don't want ya to have to be stuck in the bathroom while we're here.”

There was a pause before she called, “Shouldn't you guys get going anyway?”

“Yeah. You better leave before the girls get here,” I told Harry playfully. “I'll get in big trouble if they catch you and Niall here. No guys at bachellorette parties, you know? Except for the strippers.”

“Strippers?” Harry asked, his eyes wide. “You're going to have strippers but I can't?”

“I'm joking,” I told him. “No strippers, either,” I said. “I'm surprised Nialler let you come here, though. I seriously think I would get scolded by the girls.”

“Oh, yeah, well,” Niall sputtered out quickly.

“I was driving,” Harry cut in, saving him. “But nothing would've stopped me from seeing my girl tonight,” he said.

I grabbed his face and kissed him again and he pulled me closer to him.

“Alright love birds,” Niall said. Harry and I drew apart. “Save that for tomorrow.” I hugged Harry to me, closing my eyes and enjoying the embrace of my soon-to-be-husband, as Niall said, “Bye Carmen.”
“Bye Niall,” she called.

“See you tomorrow, Carmen,” Harry called as he let me go.

“Bye Harry!” she yelled back.

“See you, Niall,” I said.

“See ya, Jules,” he said.

Carmen popped her head out of the bathroom the moment she heard Niall close the door, just enough so I could see her face. Her smile was bigger than I'd ever seen it.

“He wanted to see me,” she said, joy, hope, but also certainty, filling her eyes.

I smiled back at her and shrugged. “Maybe he did.”

Niall popped his head back into my room. Carmen shrieked and quickly slammed the bathroom door shut again.

Niall laughed. “Crap!” he exclaimed. “Bye again, Jules,” he said to me.

I laughed. “See you Nialler,” I said. He closed the door and I listened to his and Harry's footsteps on my stairs. “Harry wanted to see me,” I whispered to myself. “We're getting married,” I let the words dreamily float out of my mouth, as if I couldn't control it. I couldn't believe all of this was really happening.
