You're My Strength

When life became hard, Rebecca Gale wanted to give up. But her friends gave her strength to move on. But will their support be enough for Rebecca? Or will she just give up in the end?

4. The Visit

“I love outside food.” I mumbled as I ate my Peri-peri chicken.

Yes, we were at Nando’s since Niall picked the place and we didn’t want to argue.

“Were the food in the hospital that bad?” Liam asked me, failing to stop smiling. “IF you call it food.” I replied, putting emphasis on the word ‘if’.

All of us started to laugh but our laughter died down when two, possible, fans came by.

“Hey Becca!” One of them smiled and I was confused why they were talking to me when the boys were here. “Are you ok? We heard.” One of them asked.

“I’m great. Thanks for asking.” I replied as I smiled at them. And what they did next took me by surprise.

“Have this flowers. We were supposed to give it to you in the hospital but you weren’t there anymore.” One of them said.

Harry got the flowers and let me sniff it. It smelled wonderful.

“Do you want an autograph?” Zayn asked the girls since he was the nearest to them. “Please?”

Soon enough, the boys were passing the paper around the table, signing their names on it. We also had a group picture. ‘We’ meaning, including the girls and I.

When they were gone, we all went back to eating, casually talking and making jokes.

Once we finished, I carried the flowers and slung my bag on my shoulders. I then intertwined my hands with Harry’s as we went out.

“We’ll give you two time alone.” Liam said as he and the others went the other way.

I smiled at him and let Harry take me somewhere.

“We’ll have to walk, ok?” Harry said and I simply nodded my head. Walking will be good. After all, I bet I was laying on the bed for at least a day.

When Harry and I passed by a news stand, I couldn’t pry my eyes away from a specific magazine.

“Harry, wait. Let me just buy that.” I pointed to the magazine and he looked at me. “You sure?” He asked and I smiled weakly.

Harry let go of my hands and let me talk to the vendor.

I grabbed the magazine and scanned it. I paid for it and put it in my bag as Harry and I continued to walk.

Fifteen minutes later, Harry and I stopped at the cemetery gates.

“Why are we here?” I asked Harry sourly. “I just thought that it will be a good idea to bring you here. You weren’t here during the funeral.” He reminded me and he led me to my family’s grave.

My family owns this house-like place in the cemetery so when we die, our bodies will all be in the same house. It was expensive but my parents wanted one.

Harry and I entered the house or whatever you call it and the smell of flowers were wafting in the air.

“Go on.” Harry encouraged me to walk towards my family’s graves.

I took a deep breath and walked nearer.

“I’m sorry.” Were the first words I said.

“I’m sorry for not being there earlier. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to save you. I’m sorry that you had to die this way. But please always remember, I love you lots. I’m trying to move on but I can’t. I miss you three too much. But please guide me. I know you’re up there. So please guide me. Life’s been hard. So please be my angels, ok?” I laughed a little. “I love you Leah, I love you mum, and I love you dad.” My voice breaking.

“Leah, I kept your Barbies in my flat. You could always swing by and play with them. I’ll play with you, too. Just tell me since you’re my baby eight-year old sister. Remember that, ok?” I wiped my eyes and nose. “Mum and dad, I’ll be a great person to make you proud. So that my life’ll be worth it. I love you, ok?”

I then put the flowers the fans gave me on top of their tombstones. I kissed it good bye and walked over to Harry.

“Are you ok?” He asked me and I nodded my head. He wiped my tears and he held my hands.

As we walked, my gaze was locked on our entwined hands.

“The boys are outside.” He told me as he snaked his arm around my waist.

Harry opened the door for me and when we were in, everybody was silent.

I sat on Harry’s lap and buried my face into the crook of his neck.

“Thank you.” I mumbled as I closed my eyes, tired from all the crying I did.
