You're My Strength

When life became hard, Rebecca Gale wanted to give up. But her friends gave her strength to move on. But will their support be enough for Rebecca? Or will she just give up in the end?

1. Prologue

“I’m sorry but nobody survived.”

Those awful words ran through my head over and over again. I couldn’t seem to accept the fact that they’re dead. I’ve been waiting for them to call and tell me they escaped. I’ve been waiting for them to call and tell me they’re ok but they didn’t.

It was supposed to be our family day. My parents and little sister were supposed to go with me to the carnival. But they didn’t make it.

When I drove to their place, all I saw was their burnt house and dead bodies. It was too much to take in and I couldn’t help but break down.

People sympathized me but I didn’t need their sympathy. What I need was my family back.

I curled up into a ball on the floor. I missed hearing my little sister’s laugh as we played tag. I missed my mum and dad scolding me for staying up late or going home past my curfew.

I miss them.

In the end, I went to my bathroom and took out my razor. My escape.

With trembling hands, I slid the razor on my arm, making a line of blood on my arm. I stopped but the blood didn’t. Droplets fell to the floor and I watched my life being taken away.

“Becca?” My boyfriend, Harry, called from outside. I didn’t reply. I wanted to die now. I want to be with my family in heaven. I want to see them.

“Becca!” Harry pounded on the door. “Becca baby, I know it’s hard but please come out!” He yelled. He continued on pounding when I heard the other boys come.

“Becca!” They all yelled but I didn’t answer. I was too weak.

I looked at my arm, more blood was flowing out. I fell to the ground and closed my eyes as memories came flooding back.

“Becca!” I heard Harry yell just as the door separated from its hinges. “Call an ambulance!” He yelled as I said my good bye to the world.

“Stay with me.” Harry whispered as he carried me.

“Ambulance is here!” Liam yelled and opened the door for me. The paramedics took my baby away from me and onto the stretcher. I went in the ambulance and held Becca’s hand.

“Becca baby, stay with me.” I cried as I tightened my grip on her hand. The ambulance doors closed and the ambulance started to move.

“What happened?” One of them asked. “Deep cut on her arm. Probably blood loss.” Another one replied. But I couldn’t care less on what they’re talking about. I just cried harder, scared I might lose her.

When we arrived, the paramedics took Becca’s stretcher and laid her on the bed and nurses pushed her to the ER. I followed them but the nurses pulled  me back.

“You can’t go there sir.” One of them said but I kept on fighting back. “Becca. I need to be with her.” I cried.

“Mate, let’s go.” Louis held onto my arm and made me sit in the waiting area. I reluctantly obliged. I sat on the chair, my hands still shaking.

“What if I lose her?” I asked them as I cried. “You won’t mate.”Niall tried to convince me. “Stay with me.” I whispered again.

Every passing minute was torture. I didn’t know what was happening. Becca needed to survive. The world wouldn’t be the same without her.

“Uhm, who’s here for Rebecca Gale?” The doctor asked. The boys and I stood up and I walked over to him. “How is she?” I asked, my voice breaking. “She’s ok.” He said which made me relieved.

“Can I see her?” I asked the doctor. He nodded his head and pointed to a room. I went in and there was my baby, unconscious.

Tears brimmed my eyes as I grabbed a chair and sat beside Becca’s bed. I held her hand and scanned the bandage over her cut.

“You don’t have to do this.” I whispered. I kissed her knuckles and stroked her cheek. “I love you Becca.”
