2. Chapter 2

I ran back upstairs and into my room. Sophie was sprawled across my bed snoring. I walked over to her, she reeked of alcohol. I took her shoes off and pulled her dress over her head. I rummaged through my dresser to find a t-shirt and and shorts for me and her. Getting her dressed was a lot harder than getter her undressed, but she never woke up. I turned the lights off and crawled in bed next to her and drifted off.

I was woken up by my alarm, I had to be at work in an hour. I got up and flipped through the clothes in my closet trying to find my uniform, not really a uniform just khakis and a plain color polo of your choice. I got dressed and went to the bathroom to brush my hair and teeth. My hair was a tangled mess, and it didn't help that my hair was thick and curly either. I finally got all the tangles out of it and pulled it back. I started brushing my teeth occasionally glancing back in my bedroom to see if Sophie was still asleep. I spit out my toothpaste and washed off my brush. I grabbed my jacket and and keys and crept down the stairs. It was seven-thirty to my surprise my mum was already awake. “Hey mum can you check on Sophie a few times while I'm a work?” I asked leaning up against the door frame to the living room. “Rough night?” She asked back looking up from her book.

“Yep..thanks” I replied as she gave me a nod of her head. I pulled my jacket on and started for the door.

“Non-fat, decaf, whole milk, caramel cappuccino.” A girl that looked very high maintenance ordered at me. I gave a fake smile and turned around to the machine rolling my eyes. I finished making her drink and turned around and handed it to her and she gave me the money. “Thanks.” She rudely said. “My pleasure.” I mumbled under my breath. Only ten more minutes until my shift was over and I could go home. “Rickie the table in the corner by the window needs a refill.” My boss Jane yelled at me. “On it.” I yelled back getting the coffee off the warmer and walking towards the table. I refilled their drinks and turned around to go back when I ran into someone almost spilling the coffee. “I'm sorry.” I said looking up to see familiar curls and green eyes staring at me.

“You just like spilling drinks on me don't you?” Harry jokingly asked. I rolled my eyes and walked back to the counter, he followed. “Are you stalking me now?” I asked when we got back to the counter.

“I saw you in the window, there's no hiding that flaming red hair of yours. How's your friend?”

“My mum called and said she gave her stuff for her hangover and when she was feeling better left.” I replied before turning my back to him. “Did you have fun getting her naked then sleeping with her? It would've been more fun with me there.” He laughed. I rolled my eyes at him in disgust.

“You should really stop rolling your eyes, it makes me thing you're have an orgasm.” He said giving me a wink. “Are you always so vile and sexual around girls you've just met?” I demanded.

“I'm sorry Rickie. I was making jokes.” I replied back grabbing my hand. I looked down then back at him and pulled it away. “My shift is over.” I said before turning around and heading to the back room to get my things.

When I finally clocked out I walked back to the front to leave, to discover Harry was still there standing by the door. I just walked past him and out the door, he followed like always. “You got a ride home?” He asked jogging up next to me.

“I like close, I'll walk.” I usually take the bus but I didn't want to chance having to ride a bus with him.

“More like a mile and a half, let me drive you.” He begged.

“I like the fresh air and exercise.” I replied not looking at him.

“Well I'm not letting you walk alone.” He said looking over at me, I just shook my head. We walked for a few minutes in silence before he said anything. “I get the feeling you don't like me very much.” Harry stated. “You aren't particularly my favorite person.” I told him looking over to him. The wind was blowing threw his curls, it's not that I didn't find him attractive. I mean he was tall, tan, you could tell he was fit, his eyes were gorgeous, and his hair was just. My thought was interrupted when he said something. “Sorry what?” I asked confused.

“I said I wasn't as bad as I came off to be, and I'd love to show. Can I take you out?” He asked touching my wrists so I stopped. I looked at him, he was used to getting any girl he wanted, but I just didn't like him. “Sorry I'm busy.” I told him starting to walk again.

“I didn't even say when.” He said catching back up with me. I let out a sigh

“Well you see.. um Sophie has cat, yeah and it, it just died...and I have, I have to go to the funeral.” I lied

“You suck at lying, and that's the worst excuse ever.” He said laughing. I turned my head and smiled, I didn't want him to see. We finally reached my house and he walked me up to the door. “Come on, say yes.” He pleaded. I unlocked the door and opened it a little.

“Sorry Harry, no.” I replied back shaking my head and stepping inside.

“Can I at least have your number?” He asked looking straight at me.

“Okay. 555-Nope” I laughed pulling my keys out of the door.

“Oh come on.” He smiled and laughed too.

“Yeah no.” I said before shutting the door. I let out another sigh and just smiled hanging my head.

“Who was that?” My mum asked. I looked up and saw her standing in the hall.

“No one.” I quickly replied moving away from the door an towards the stairs.

“Uh-hu...” My mum trailed off turning to go into the kitchen. I got into my room and crashed on my bed. My bed started vibrating and I started looking for my phone I forgot here this morning, my bed still smelt like alcohol. I finally found it and saw a text from Sophie.

Sorry about last night, thanks for taking care of me.” I smiled and replied before getting up and ripping the blankets and sheets of my bed to wash. I threw them in a basket and carried it downstairs to the laundry room and threw them in the wash. I went back up stairs to see another text from Sophie.

Movie tonight?”

Sure meet you there at 8.x” I replied back. It was one now so I had some time to kill, starting with food. I walked to the kitchen to make some macaroni and cheese, one of my favorites.

“So who was that Rickie?” My mum asked again as soon as I walked in. I got a pot and started filling it with water ignoring the question. “Rickie.” My mum demanded. I turned the water off putting the pot on the stove. “Just some guy that helped me get Sophie home last night, he ran into me on my way home from work.” I told her getting the box of mac' and cheese from the pantry.

“Do you like him?” She questioned making me drop the box. I bent down and picked it up. “I'm taking that as a yes.” She said before getting up and leaving. When the water started boiling I poured the noodles in and let them cook. When the macaroni was cooked I turned off the water and strained it before mixing in the cheese. I made myself a big bowl, I hadn't eaten anything all day and I was hungry. I scarfed down the first bowl fast and finished off the rest in the pan. I cleaned up the dishes and went to the laundry room to put my things in the dryer. When that was done I ran upstairs to find something to wear. I finally picked something out, some black skinny jeans with rips down them and a plain white v-neck and some black vans. I looked at the clock on my bed side table, four. I had four more hours to waste so I decided to take a shower.

I went to the bathroom and stripped down. I turned on the hot water and stepped in. I just let it run over me for a few minutes before actually cleaning myself. I took my time, I pampered myself. When I finally finished I shut off the water and stepped out drying myself off with the towel. I went back into my room and found some clean underwear and a bra and put it on. I brushed out my hair and let it air dry, taking a blow dryer to it would make it frizzy. I wiggled into my jeans and puled my top over my head. I went back into the bathroom to finish getting ready. I brushed my teeth and styled my hair, there wasn't I could do to it, I just pulled it half up half down. I didn't wear make-up so the time I would've spent doing that I spent reading. I always loved books and I had just got a new one. I laid on my stomach and began reading.

I finished a chapter and looked at the clock seven-thirty. I put it down and slipped some socks on then put my shoes on. I grabbed my keys and bag and took off down the stairs. I locked the door behind me, I knew my mum would be asleep when I got because she had to work in the morning. I headed down the sidewalk towards the theater. I met Sophie out by the entrance. We decided on some romantic comedy I had only seen advertised a few times. We bought out tickets and went in to get some seats.

“Well that movie was stupid.” Sophie said as we walked outside, I nodded in agreement. We started down the sidewalk to her car so she could drop me off. I didn't want to walk home this late by myself. “Rickie!” I heard my name yelled in a familiar voice, I knew exactly who it was before I turned around. “Harry.” I said with little excitement in my voice as I turned around. Harry walked over to Sophie and I with an unfamiliar friend. “Are you sure you're not stalking me?” I jokingly asked.

“I promise I'm not.” He replied looking straight at me, his eyes were piercing. “You're not walking home are you?” He asked worried.

“No, Sophie-” I was interrupted.

“Actually I just remembered I have ...things to do. That Rickie isn't allowed to do.” Sophie said smiling at me then at Harry. “So can I take you home?” Harry asked. I ignored the question glaring at Sophie for doing that to me. “Please?” He begged.

“Alright fine.” I gave in.

“Alright, oh and this is my friend Zayn, he is here visiting for a while.” Harry told us. Zayn smiled

“So Zayn those things I have to do, you want to help me?” Sophie asked. I knew what she was doing, I don't date much and she wanted Harry and I alone. “Sounds cool.” He said smiling.

“Let's go. Bye Rickie.” Sophie smiled motioning Zayn towards her car. I looked over to Harry who was staring at me. “What?”

“You're just different, in a good way.” He answered before turning in the direction we had to walk. We walked for a short while before reaching his car. It was black, I didn't know the brand but it was nice. He opened the passenger door for me and I climbed in. I watched as he walked around to the driver's side. He climbed in and started his car and I buckled up. He pulled away from the curb and started down the road. “Let's get to know each other.” He stated

“Favorite breakfast food?” He asked. I kinda laughed at the weird question.

“Uh I don't know, cereal. You?”

“Let's say pancakes. Color?”

“Purple. You?”

“Blue. Coffee?”

“I don't like coffee.” I confessed.

“What? You work in a coffee shop.” He laughed and smiled looking over to me, I shyly smiled back.

“I need a job and they were hiring.” I told him. We pulled up to my house and he turned the car off and got out. I unbuckled and went for the door but he already had it open. I got out and he shut the door then proceeded to walk me to my door. “So about that date...” He trailed off as we got to my door.

“If I say yes will you stop stalking me everywhere I go?” I joked, he smiled I didn't notice until now but when he smiled he got dimples, really cute dimples. “So that's a yes?” He asked. I nodded my head.

“Let me see your phone.” I told him, he uneasily handed it too me. I could tell he didn't want to. I sent myself a message. “Now you have my number.” Handing his phone back to him. Our fingers touched and I look at him, his eyes were on mine. He broke away putting his phone in his pocket so I looked towards the door putting the keys in. “Goodnight Harry.” I said before shutting the door.
