13. Chapter 13

Rickie's POV

I quickly shut the door behind me and ran into the kitchen where my mum was. “Is it here?” I eagerly asked rushing into the kitchen and scanning around on the tables and counters. “Sorry love, it didn't come today.” My mum said sympatheticly getting up to give me a hug. I was expecting an important letter to come in the mail that was supposed to be here today. “It's fine.” I sighed hugging her back. “I'll make your favorite tonight.” Was all she had to say to make me feel better.

“Chicken salsa?!” I confirmed. I felt her nodding her head above. “I love you mum!” I exclaimed before giving her a kiss on the cheek and retreating to my room. When I go inside my room I turned and looked in the mirror, I looked a complete mess in every way. My hair was frizzy and untamed, my make-up was slightly smeared and I had giant bags under my eyes. I grabbed my brush and started with my hair. Having curly hair and not brushing it is not a good idea, I had so many tangles. I stripped off my clothes and threw them in basket next to my bed. I walked into the bathroom and started the shower before stepping inside it. I let the hot water run over my body, replenishing it.

I climb from the warmth of the shower to the coldness of my bathroom some time later. Drying myself off and wrapping the towel around myself. I went over to my vanity, picking my brush back up to brush my hair once again. I was half way done brushing my hair when I noticed something sitting on my that wasn't there before. I turned away from the mirror and walked over to my bed and picked up the plain envelope sitting there. I gently opened it and the contents of the envelope fell out onto my bed. A small silver paper airplane pendant and with a note. I picked up the note and noticed someone had wrote on it. “Since you're mine, I thought you might want something of me.” - Harry. I picked up the necklace admiring it's beauty, I noticed Harry always wore something around his neck but never saw what it actually was. I put the necklace on and stared into the mirror, it was the only thing I was wearing.

I finished getting dresses and headed downstairs. “Hey mum, was Harry her?” I asked confused.

“Yeah, he said you left something in his car and he ran up to give it you. You were up there shouldn't you know this?” She asked turning away from the stove. She seemed a bit taken aback when she noticed my still damp hair. “Oh, well if I knew you were in the shower I wouldn't have sent him up there.” She joked before turning back around to tend to the food on the stove. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and sent Harry a quick text, just a simple thank you. “The food will be done in a couple of hours.” My mum informed me before she turned and walked out of the kitchen. “I'll be back later I'm going to Janis' house. If you could just watch the stove occasionally that would be perfect.” She told me before giving me a kiss on the forehead and and leaving out the door. I was home alone. I walked over to the couch and flipped over the back of it. I stayed like this for a while, with my legs hanging over the edge until I decided to get up and do something. I took my phone off the counter and decided to call Sophie. “Sophie we need to talk.” I said promptly after she answered he phone.

“About what?” She questioned on the other end

“He gave me a necklace today, like he would wear it and he gave it to me.” I rambled out.

“Well sounds to me that he really actually likes you and you need to stop freaking out and breathe!” Sophie yelled over the phone. “I guess you're right.” I confessed

“Of course I'm right.” She laughed

“Thanks Sophie.” I told her before hanging up the phone. I got out of my seat and went to check the chicken before laying back on the couch to take a nap.

I'm not sure how long I was awake before getting woke by the door bell ringing. I lazily sat up and slouched over to the door to answer it. To my surprise I saw Harry standing there towering over me. “Uh Harry, what are doing here?” I tiredly asked.

“I'm on break and I wanted to make sure everything was alright, you weren't really yourself in the car this morning.” He confessed, still standing on my doorstep not moving.

“Yeah sorry. I'm fine I was just expecting a letter this morning but it didn't come. Everything is fine. Sorry for worrying you this morning.” I leaned into the door frame to get closer to him, I caught him glance down at my chest real quick before looking back up at me. “So you like it?” He smiled. I laced my fingers around the pendant and nodded my head and smiled back at him. “Well I have to get back to work, I'll see you later.” Harry wrapped one arm around my waist and pulled me into his chest. I stared up at him, he luminous green eyes staring back down at me. He moved closer down to me and his lips brushed against mine before he fully pressed them against mine. Our lips moved in sync with each other, I felt his tongue slide against my lips. I parted my lips slightly letting him invade my mouth. My senses exploded as he moved us back into the door frame then leaned more into me. I moved my hands down his chest to his hips. Harry's hips bucked ever so slightly. As Harry pulled away the tingle in my lips remained. “You make it so hard to leave.” He whispered before backing up. “Bye Rickie.” He nodded before turning to back to his car parked against the curb. I turned back into the house shutting the door behind me, blushing uncontrollably. It was nearly five by the time my mum had gotten home and the food was done. “What did you do while I was gone?” She asked before taking a bite out of her chicken. “Oh nothing, just slept and stuff.” I replied trying hard not to blush again.

After I finished eating I stayed around to help my mum with dishes. “So this relationship or whatever it is. It's nothing serious is it?” My mum asked as I put the leftovers in the fridge.

“I don't know my mum, we only just kind of started.” I told her leaning up against the fridge.

“I just don't want you to get hurt or it get too serious for you.” She had a concerned look on her face.

“I think I'll be fine.” I replied back taking a sip of my drink

“Well what about university? You don't want him holding you back.” She protested.

“What's your problem?” I snarled

“I don't want to see you get hurt Rickie that's all. How well do you even know this boy?” She asked

“I know he wont hurt me or pressure me into anything mum.”

“I was a teen once and I know how they work, he'll get what he wants and when it's not good enough anymore he'll leave.”

“He isn't like that.”

“You barely know him Rickie!”

“I know he's not like dad!” I yelled back at her and as soon as I did I regretted it. I saw little tears form in her eyes as she stared at me from across the kitchen. “Mum I'm sorry I didn't mean it. I..” I trailed off

My mum stared at the ground for a while before raising her head to look up at me. “Then you wouldn't have said it.” I stood there frozen and watched as she walked out of the kitchen and down the hall to her room. I don't know who I was more upset with, her or myself. I felt a cool wet tear run down my cheek.
