6. Second Day

When I woke up I forgot I was at the tree fort. I looked around, heart pounding in fear. I saw Trevor next to me sleeping and I relaxed remembering where I was. I got out of my bed and looked around the room for the first time. The walls were my favorite shade of red and the bed was black and white. On both sides mahogany wood nightstands sat. There was sketch pads and notebooks on one nightstand and I smiled remembering how much I loved to draw and write. The other nightstand had different colored candles and a fire emblem necklace on one of the candles. A flat screen T.V faced the wall opposite the one my bed as well as a door leading to a closet. On the other wall was a book shelf and a couch so I could read there if I wanted, and a dresser for my clothes. On the other wall was a window that showed the ground floor and some of the sky. I noticed storm clouds approaching fast with lightning bolts shooting out. I walked over to the dresser and opened it to find all kinds of cool clothes. I slipped off my pajamas and I put on some dark jeans and a gray tank top. I walked over to the closet and opened it to find hoodies of all colors. I was in heaven and of course I had to look at all of them. I finally decided on a blue and white checkered hoodie and slipped it on. When I got done exploring the wonders of my room I went into the main room of our house. On one side where about 4 steps leading down to a living room. a fire place was at the far wall and a flat screen T.V was above it with a gaming console hooked up to it. I got closer and realized that it was an Xbox. Trevor told me about them, but i haven't seen one in a long time. I moved on to the other room which was a kitchen. I walked over and got the chills as my bare feet hit the cool tile floor. I made myself breakfast and ate as i turned on the T.V to see what was on. I was still wondering how we had T.V when we had to hide the fort from mortals; and it's not like they pay for it. I finished what i was eating when Trevor walked out and sat down next me.

"Well good morning, I thought you'd sleep all day." I laughed and kissed him. He kissed me back and put his arm around me.

"And miss seeing you all day? Not a chance." He smirked at me. He got up and made himself breakfast and sat down next to me again.

"I see they gave us an Xbox to play on. We are never going to get any training done." He laughed and got up and turned it on and handed me a controller. "You've played this once before when you were young so I'm sure you'll get the hang of it." He slipped in a game and sat back down next to me. We started playing and I had no idea what to do at first but I got the hang of it and not to show off was pretty damn good. I could hear the wind picking up and the rain hitting the roof of the house. Then, there was a knock on the door. Trevor got up and opened it.

"Oh, hey Zander. What's up?" He said to Zander who was beaming and laughing to himself.

"Oh, nothing just giving you guys a day off." He said winking at me and Trevor, I turned around.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"Well this electrical storm didn’t start itself. Your welcome by the way." Zander said laughing. He ran towards the couch and jumped landing in the couch on the side of me. "So what you guys playing?" Zander asked picking up another controller and adding himself to the game.

"Doesn’t matter what were playing Zander. Cuz' I know you can't beat me on it!" Trevor said smirking at Zander and walking back to join me on the couch. We played video games for a while longer and I listened to the occasional cussing from Zander and Trevor. I just smiled and kept on playing. After a while, there was a knock on the door.

"It's open!" Trevor called and Gabriel opened the door and walked in.

"So Zander decided he didn't want training or choirs to do today?" Gabriel asked all of us.

"Dude, choirs are so over rated like really I just want to train and relax. Why don’t Matt and Alex just take care of it?" Zander whined but kept his eyes glued to the game.

"Because they actually have jobs at the city Zander. That they have to go to every other day so no one is here except for us to do the house work. And without them we wouldn't have money and then we wouldn't have the gaming systems or anything really for that matter." Gabriel said back to Zander. Gabriel sat down and grabbed the controller and also added him self into the game.

"Yeah yeah. What ever, that doesn't make the choirs suck any less." Zander said. Then, there was a flash of lightning right next to the house and a huge crack of thunder shook the house. Alex walked in with her snow white hair soaked and her clothes drenched. Her gaze would have killed all of us if it was possible and we all turned around to see her.

"Oh..... He-" Zander couldn't finish before Alex cut him off

"Zander Hunt did you make this storm?" Alex said through clenched teeth.

"I have no idea what your talking about Alexandra Blaire." Zander said smirking at her. "Why would I do something like that? I mean you know how much I love doing choirs." He turned back towards the T.V again. Her face was getting strawberry red and she stormed out of the house, making sure to slam the door on her way out.

"Well that was interesting." Gabriel said in a dull tone. I turned my head sideways in confusion.

"Why was Alex so pissed off? Besides the storm and Zander being an dou-"

"Hey now no need for harsh words." Zander cut me off. I cleared my throat and spoke again.

"Sorry. Even though Zander was being a real pain I thought she was the calm and collected one?" I said to all of them.

"No Matt is the calm and collected one. That's why he’s kind of our leader because he handles everything better than most." Zander said to me.

"Also Alex is like our mom in a sense and just like mom's are caring and nice they can also get mean and strict when the kids, or us if you will, don't behave or cause mischief." Gabriel said looking accusingly at Zander.

"And she also just wants what’s best for us and doesn't want her planning and scheduling to get all messed up. We all no how she gets when we mess her planning up or unexpected things factor themselves into the day." Trevor pitched into the conversation. I nodded showing them that I understood and they all un-paused the game and we continued playing. It stayed like that for awhile until most of the day had past and everyone was getting tried.

"I might go home Trev." Zander said to Trevor. "You should come over, I got some new games since you left that you don't have and I know I can beat you on them." Zander shot Trevor a challenging glace.

"We will see about that. I'll be over there soon." Trevor looked at me "what about you Hailee? You want to come along too?" I was about to politely decline when Gabriel spoke up.

"Actually I was wondering if Hailee wanted to hang out with me for a little bit before the evening." Gabriel looked at me and smiled.

"Yeah sure I'll come hang with you. Depends on where we will be going though." I asked him.

"Oh, some place cool I can promise you that."

"I better not regret tagging along."

"I don't think you will." Gabriel and I smiled as we exited the house with Trevor and Zander ahead of us going a different direction then us to get to Zander's. Gabriel lead us to a platform, opposite the on we landed on.

"Is this it?" I asked laughing a bit to myself.

"Not even close we haven't even gotten to where I want to take you yet." Gabriel said to me.

"Well then what are we doing? It's not like we can fly its raining above the trees and this, if you haven't noticed yet, is a dead end."

"Is it really a dead end? I see tons of different ways to get down, up, or around. You need to take in your surroundings before you think you’re trapped." He grabs hold of one of the vines near the platform. Realizing what he meant and how we were going to get down I felt stupid I didn't see it.

"Meet you down there." He said as he ran and leaped grabbing one of the vines and sliding down it. I backed up and spotted where I would grab when I jumped. I ran and jumped, free falling before I grabbed one of the vine and slid down it like he did. My feet hit the hard ground and he stood there, arms folded, smirking at me.

"Not bad for your first time I'll give you that." Gabriel said to me. "Now to get where I actually wanted to take you."

We walked for seemed like hours but i really didn't mind much. I watched as colorful birds flew in the treetops above and small animals run around the ground. I guess I couldn't call them small, the smallest animal I've seen was up to my ankle in height. Pandora had all kinds of animals but they were all supersized. I mean the wolves were 5 feet usually, I was glad that animals either befriend us or avoid us. I also realized why the mortals didn't come into the woods, because they didn't want to get killed.

"Were here." Gabriel said to me and I was so caught up in my thoughts I didn't see that we came to a small clearing with brush on the opposite side of us. Gabriel looked at me and smirked. He put two fingers into his mouth and let out a low whistle. At first there was nothing, but then I heard feet running on the ground and the crunch of leaves and sticks on the ground. A giant leopard taller than me jumped out of the brush and tackled Gabriel. He started laughing and i saw his eyes go purple and the leopards eyes glow purple too. "Easy girl, how have you been?" He said to the animal and scratched behind her ears. She purred and licked his arm.

"Her name is Nepita. She's my spirit animal." He gestured for me to come closer. Nepita glanced at me and lowered her back and backed up.

"It's ok she is good. She is a friend, Hailee meet Nepita. Nepita meet Hailee." Gabriel said nudging her side. She stopped backing up and stared at me a moment.

"Hello Hailee." She said to me and they went back to purring and rubbing up against Gabriel. I glanced at Gabriel in confusion. I didn't think that animals could talk in Pandora.

"Did she just?"

"Talk? Yes, see when you get your spirit animal it bonds to you and you are one with the animal. We share everything so she shares my language. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to talk." He said explaining it to me.

"Can anyone have a spirit animal?" I asked him

"Not mortals. Only we can have spirit animals because we are more one with the world and were natural. You can have one two Hailee, didn't you know that?" Gabriel said looking shocked.

"No I didn't know I could have one. Could you show me sometime?" I asked excited that I might actually get to have a spirit animal.

"Yeah, tomorrow we can. You have training with me and we can work on that. Promise." He smiled sweetly at me.

"Awesome. I am glad I came now, I can't wait for tomorrow." I said laughing a little. He smiled and rubbed Nepita's nose.

"We should get going though. The sun is setting and we don't want to make Alex any more pissed." He said winking at me.

"No I really don't want to make a bad impression on only the second day." I said laughing a bit more. He hopped onto Nepita's back and pulled me up on her back with him. He leaned next to her ears and said something in a dialect I didn't know. She ran forward towards the way we came. What took us almost a hour to walk Nepita covered in ten minutes. When we got to the tree fort I hopped off Nepita and rubbed behind her ears.

"Thanks for saving me from walking." I said to Nepita.

"Anytime Hailee." She said back before darting off into the woods. The storm had past and we flew up to the base.

"I'm gonna go to bed. Night Hailee see you in the morning for training." Gabriel said hugging me and walking into his house. I walked past Zanders house and saw that Trevor and Zander were still playing video games. I walked past his house giggling to myself as I heard Zander cursing at Trevor and Trevor laughing as he beat Zander again. I walked into our house and opened the door to my room. I threw my hoodie on the ground and switched my jeans for sport shorts. I slipped into my bed and sent a thought to Trevor telling him I was home and going to bed. I fell asleep soundly but little did I know that tonight would be the last time I would sleep well.
