27. Epilogue

We were on our feet in seconds, rushing the man and the other boy who had come into the tent. I went to summon my fire and send them back but flame wouldn't come to my hands. All I could manage was some pathetic smoke.

Cole took advantage of the sudden distraction I had and punched me straight in the jaw, toppling me over. Leaping over me he continued to punch me in the side and neck. With a defiant roar, Zander pushed him over and it seemed that he couldn't get his powers working either. The other boy ran up to him and started to punch him too.

They started to spar with their fists and occasionally weapons. I drew my sword which thrummed and almost came to life in my hand. Cole was quick to draw his sword too. I was slightly smaller than my own but still deadly. We fought, sometimes me gaining on him and other times him gaining on me. I was losing energy but Cole looked like he was not letting up. Out of the corner of my eye Zander hit the ground with a thud as the other boy's handle hit his temple, knocking him out cold. Then it was two against one and I was falling towards the ground as a sharp pain came to my face again.

"Pathetic, they can't even fight well with out their powers." The other boy said.

"And they call themselves gods." Cole said with a chuckle. I felt myself being raised from the ground, my vision  fading fast. I tried desperately to send a message to someone. Anyone who would listen. But no response ever came. We were alone.
