48. ohohohoho

“What makes you think that??” Niall asked.

He shrugged. “I can feel it, but I won’t let it happen.”

Niall looked at him questionably. “What do you mean..”

“I mean that she’s my girlfriend. Louis already broke her heart once, he’ll do it again for sure.”

I glared at him through my closed eyes.

“Aren’t you guys in a fight..” Niall started.

“From now on, I will be the best boyfriend ever. In fact, I’m going to call her right now.” I felt him smirk as he walked away.

“This isn’t a game! My sister isn’t the prize of a contest, you know that right Harry?” He warned severely.

“Hello Sweetie-” He was already speaking on the phone.

I inhaled deeply and decided to play my wake up. I groaned and stretched as I sat up on the couch. I acted confused as if I’d just woken up and got up rubbing my eyes. I yawned.

“Did I miss anything?” I asked Niall with a smile.

“Not much.” He growled looking at Harry and walked off to his room.

I shrugged and got off from the stool I sat on at the counter, grabbing my keys out of the glass bowl in the entrance. I got out of the flat quietly, not to be too suspicious.

I stopped in midtrack, wait I don’t even know where she lives. I pulled out my phone and started to write a quick text to Harry. “Yo mate where’s that Starbucks you went to when you saw V-” I paused. Way too risky. He’d know I’m going to see her. I carefully erased the message and put my phone in my back pocket. I fumbled with my hands trying to think fast. What was beside that Starbucks? What was Harry going to do that day?

And then it hit me. The library! He had a book Liam had asked him to drop off, he must’ve stopped by Starbucks right after. I hopped into my car and drove off. I parked my car on the street on the corner where Starbucks was. I got out and walked around. I walked down the alley of trees and houses and tried to figure out which one would be hers. I tried looking into the windows until I saw a girl, a petite blonde girl wipe away tears as she shoved picture frames into her garbage on the curb. Could it really be her? I started to hurry towards her and then realized: maybe she won’t want to see me. But Harry said she might still like me, right? I quickened my pace again, and watched as she started walking up the stairs to the door of an apartment. Once she was in, I wouldn’t know which number hers was. I ran towards her and got in just as she was waiting for the elevator.

“Vanessa!” I shouted as she walked into the elevator. She looked up and when she saw me, she looked terrified. Definitely not the reaction I was going for. I held open the door and followed her in. The doors closed and she stood beside me staring at the silver doors. I turned towards her. “I’m not going to hurt you.” I reached out and undid her crossed arms. She looked at me with big eyes. “I’m sorry you know. For everything.” I honestly had no clue what to say. I hadn’t exactly planed out how she’d react. She bit the inside of her cheek.

“Louis are you just fooling around or?” She finally spoke.

I choked on my breath. “What?! No! Of course not!” I reassured her.

The door finally opened and she walked out. I followed. She pulled her keys out of her pocket and stuck them in the key hole. She turned it and unlocked the door. She opened it and walked in. “I don’t even know what I’m supposed to believe. From anyone anymore.” She muttered.

“Did you and Harry have a fight?” I asked. Didn’t he just call her being all lovey?

She wiped away the mascara on her cheek. “Oh god did I really face the real world looking like this?!”

I laughed. “You look fine.”

“Why are you here?” She cut me off.

“I just realized I was wrong. I still love you..” I nearly whispered the last part.

She bit her lip. She’s driving me crazy and I don’t even know if she knows it.

“Vaness, if we keep denying to each other, but in reality really want to be together, were only punishing ourselves.”

*Vanessa’s POV*

He’s got a point. Obviously I still love him. He reached out and put a hand on my cheek, tracing my face. He took a step closer. Our foreheads touched. I sucked up the ball in my throat.

“Lou..” I closed my eyes. “I’m with Harry.” I said, but never pulling away.

“Aren’t you two in a fight? I’d never put you through any kind of misery again.” Our stomachs were now touching, our hips bumping into each other with each miss step.

“This would be considered cheating.”

“You’re right.” He said as his lips got closer.

“It’d be wrong.”

“So very wrong.” He said as he crashed his lips to mine.
