1. Chapter 1

                                                   Emma's POV

"Brandon!" I  screamed, chasing him through the house. "Give me back my diary!" This wasn't the first time I had caught my brother Brandon reading my diary, no matter where I hid it he always managed to find it. I really had to learn to hide it more carefully.

"Mom! Brandon is reading my diary again!" I yelled, although she probably hadn't listened. Lately she had spent all her time talking to her boyfriend Mark. I personally didn't like Mark, because he was taking my mom away from me.

"Mom, you should read some of the interesting stuff in here, like about what her and Jared did at a party last weekend." That was it. I was going to kill him. It's not my fault my friends chose the partying and drinking lifestyle. I didn't drink alcohol, so most of the time I tried to avoid going to those partys. But sometimes I had no choice, because either my boyfriend Jared, or my bestfriend Mackenzie, dragged me along. Lately I had been tired of being so popular, and doing whatever my supposed 'friends' told me to do. Thats the only reason I'm so popular is because I do whatever they tell me to.  To be honest, I absolutely hated being popular, it isn't the real me. But I don't know what I would do if I lost all my friends, even though I hate them. Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.

Brandon walked up to me and handed me a letter from school. I opened it and started to read it, with Brandon trying to read it over my shoulder. It said

 Dear Emma Rose,

I have been noticing that you have been falling behind in math lately, and I wanted to notify you as soon as possible. If you don't get your grades up by the end of the semester, then I will have no choice but to kick you off of the cheerleading squad. I will also want to have a meeting with you mother. I hope that  this letter will push you to do better in school.

                                                                                                                                 Sincerely,

                                                                                                                                      Principal Davis

No, they couldn't tell my mother anything. My mother was a lawyer and she had been very successful in life, and she wanted the same for us. She expected me and my brother to get straight A's. If she found out I was failing math, she would probably kick my ass. I would be grounded until I got my grades up. That night as I went to sleep, I tried to think of a way to get my grades up -- and fast.

--

Last night I figured out a way that would help with my math. I would get a tutor to help me. This morning when I went into school, instead of finding my friends, I went to the office to sign up for a tutor. After I signed up, the secretary told me to come back at the end of the day, and my tutor would be here waiting for me. The next part would be having to explain to Mackenzie that I couldn't hang out with her after school anymore, and that I would have to quit the cheerleading squad. I found her in her usual  spot, at her locker with her boyfriend Devin.

"Mackenzie, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked.

"About what?"

"Just come here." I pulled her into the girls bathroom with me. I didn't know how I would be able to do this.

"You see, I have been falling behind in math lately, and I need to get my grades up, so I got at tutor." I started.

"And?" she interrupted. She seemed annoyed at me for some reason.

"That means I will be busy studying most of the time, so we won't be able to hang out after school everyday like we usually do. And it means that I have to quit the cheerleading squad." I said it as quick as I could. I was eager to get out of here because I was about to face the wrath of Mackenzie.

"What? You can't quit! Your the head cheerleader! We need you there!" she screamed.

"Yes i can, and thats what I'm doing. For now, your the head cheerleader. I'm quitting and thats final. Now goodbye." And just like that I waled out, proud of myself.
